It is also clear to see that Project Cars 2 does benefit from additional CPU cores, though the performance boost is far from linear. This is why Slightly Mad Studios does not recommend that anyone plays this game without at least a quad-core CPU. The games map is bland and really cluttered which is undeniable but I wouldn’t say it’s a generic zombie game. DR4 on the other hand is simply bad and uninspiring in every way, and doesn’t hold up on its own.įor how supposedly “meh” Dead Rising 3 was I see it as a great Dead Rising game but with the community, it comes down to a personal preference sorta thing. I would even call it great, just not as a DR title. Having said everything I said, DR3 is still a relatively decent game in its own right. What was once a series known for challenging players not just in combat but with their approach to the game in general (being conscious of time, memorizing the map and weapon placements among other things) quickly became a series about being as wacky as possible and killing as many zombies as possible (oh, and you don’t have to worry about weapon locations, because as soon as you pick one up, you get an infinite amount of those weapons from your locker, including op combo weapons) Once DR3 was being developed it was a 100% totally different team with a totally different set of agendas and priorities for the series. The first DR was a masterpiece because they had an incredible team, and DR2 was amazing as well because even though it was Blue Castle they were still being guided by the original director on what to do and how to make the game.

I know a lot of people on here have being viewing this game with a little more warmth since DR4 turned out to be the biggest “fuck you” to the series it could possibly be, and I agree that it is by far worse than DR3 in just about every way, but to me DR3 is hardly a DR game. That’s because the incredibly large majority of DR3 survivors aren’t escortable, but instead idle npc’s that lack any character or backstory, and are essentially just carbon copies of each other. DR3 is the complete opposite, not just in a visual sense but also in the sense that it completely lack character, uniqueness and charmĭespite the map being incredibly large when compared to the previous two games, it only manages to have HALF of the amount of escortable survivors that were present in even DR1. Music is playing, lights are shining, and it’s just this bright, colorful environment to mess around it. Yes, no one is actually shopping in the mall, but it’s still a mall you’d expect without the zombies. Part of what made the first two DR games really interesting to play in is that while the circumstances of the games are rather bleak and dreadful, the mall/casino completely contrasts against it and really gives the game a unique charm.

The world is dull, grey, gloomy, and just not very fun to explore. A key, fundamental trope of DR is that every choice you make has a consequence, which makes every weapon you pick up, every survivor you save, and every mission you do have a real value to it. Everyone knows how DR4 completely abandoned everything that defined the series and everything that made it special, but DR3 was the beginning of it all.Įven though there was technically a timer, it could have just as easily never been there since they intentionally gave you so much time to do everything that the sense of urgency and pressure in the prior games were nowhere to be seen.
