#— yoon jeonghan “fireworks”
established relationship fluff 0.8k words
With December just entered, your city was showcasing a fireworks display to pair the Christmas light’s switch-on. It was something that happened every year, but not something you always attended. But, your boyfriend managed to coax you out with him and his friends to join them and watch the display.
“Can’t have you freezing out there, hm?” Jeonghan reminded you whilst he continued to wrap the thick, woollen scarf around your neck. His eyes were focused on your anxious expression, your bottom lip tucked between your teeth and your eyebrows drawn upwards. “Baby, we don’t have to go if you really don’t want to, you know that right?” Jeonghan reassured.
Your eyes darted up at him quickly. He looked more worried than disappointed. But you felt guilty nether-the-less, you wanted to go with him. “No, no. I want to go, I’m just - not good with large crowds, busy places, they make me anxious.” You breathed, averting your gaze to the floor, whilst your fingers absentmindedly toyed with each other. “So, just stay close to me, ok?”
There was a sparkle in Jeonghan’s eyes, and a pleased grin pulled at his face. He pulled you close to his chest, your favourite cologne of his clinging to his puffy coat.
“Of course, I won’t let my baby out of my sight for a single second!” He beamed, head snapping towards the direction of which Seungcheol called for everyone at the front door. “You ready?” He asked, and you nodded in confirmation, letting him take your gloves hand in his, leading you outside.
Expectantly, the town-centre was packed. Full of families, couples and groups of friends; your anxiety immediately sky rocketed just at the thought of being neck to neck with so many people. Jeonghan quickly recognised your sudden spike of nerves and gave your hand a quick squeeze, making you look up at him.
“I’m right here.” He comforted you with a soft smile. Feeling slightly reassured with Jeonghan right by your side, you felt your heart begin to ease. You were going to enjoy this night even if it took everything in you!
You wrapped your free arm around his for more security, and you all wandered further into the crowd of people, not wanting to get an awful view. Seokmin, Soonyoung and Jihoon all strayed off to buy food and drink at the small food stalls displayed just for tonight, and the rest of you settled yourself in a less busy spot. You observed various people in the crowd, tuning out the other loud boys conversations; you were unaware of Jeonghan’s eyes focused solely on you, soft with adoration. When you looked up suddenly though, he made no attempt to look away, unashamed of his silent and not-so-subtle admiring.
“You look so pretty tonight, you know?” Jeonghan murmured, loud enough for only you to hear. You felt your face burn up, but managed to hide it well as your face was already buried in the many layers of your scarf, but Jeonghan couldn’t miss the way your eyes shone with fondness.
“Just tonight?” You teased him with a giggle. Jeonghan only rolled his eyes, biting his cheek to try and fight the smile that he couldn’t hold back. The other three had found their way back from the food stalls, Soonyoung barking out for someone else to grab one of the cup-holders before he dropped an entire order of drinks on the floor. You chuckled at the immediate chaos the boy brought with him, taking your own drink and passing Jeonghan’s to him. Jihoon began to pass out various types of food, all steaming hot and appetising enough to make your stomach grumble with impatience.
It wasn’t long after, the display was about to begin. There was a timer counting down the seconds until the 30ft tall Christmas tree would light up. Jeonghan had one arm wrapped around your waist, watching you as you counted down with an excited grin.
“4, 3, 2, 1 ..”
There was a sudden flood of light, and the tree lit up at once; loud cheering erupted throughout the area. Before you even had the chance to look up at your boyfriend, he’d already grabbed ahold of your jaw, turning you to face him before he dipped down, capturing your lips in his own. His thumb stroked softly against the apples of your cheeks and he gave it a few seconds before reluctantly pulling away. There was a mix of coos and groans of disgust from the boys behind you - but both you and Jeonghan managed to block them out.
“I love you.” Jeonghan stated simply, the dopey smile never dropping an inch. You mirrored him, eyes wide and sparkling with affection. There was a loud whistle and a thunderous boom, and then an explosion of reds and blues and all different colours in the sky, and the cheering erupted again. Jeonghan watched fondly, as you eyes reflected the fireworks perfectly, before they drifted back to him.
“I love you too.” You replied with delay, wrapping your arms securely around his torso, letting your head rest against the beat of his heart.

#— xu minghao “platonic”
friends to lovers angst & fluff 1.08k words
“Minghao, what’s wrong with you?” You asked, with a sharp pang in your heart. His eyes avoided you, darting to every area of the room that didn’t have you in sight. Usually, you would go to Minghao’s house every weekend to hang out, and usually when you left to go anywhere you wouldn’t leave without saying ‘I love you’. It’s always been said platonically, and that was a problem that’d only recently occurred to Minghao. Like a ton of bricks, it crashed on him. He didn’t love you in the way he should’ve; and so it only felt wrong to say it back to you, when he knew his meaning was far different to your own. But now, you stood in the doorway, refusing to move and letting the bitter air inside. You had the face of a smacked child, and your heart felt heavy.
“Nothing is wrong Yn, just go to the shops before it’s dark.” Minghao sighed, waving his hand to usher you out of the door. He didn’t have the strength to argue with you, nor did he have the words to explain, or the excuses to justify.
“Why aren’t you saying it back, did I do something wrong?” You asked. Perhaps you were acting childish, it wasn’t a big deal anyway. You weren’t sure why it hurt so much, like a punch in the stomach, a stinging pinch in your heart; it wasn’t like Minghao was obliged to say it back to you - it’s not like you were committed to each other or anything. That’s when you put the pieces together. You weren’t committed to each other, Minghao didn’t have to love you like you loved him, and it stung - everything stung, from the ache in your heart to the tears in the back of your eyes.
“Yn why’re you making such a big deal out of this? Just go to the shop, it’s getting late and I don’t want you walking around in the dark.” Minghao gulped. He really wanted to move on from this, he hadn’t given himself enough time to prepare a confession, and admitting his feelings in the heat of the moment he knew could potentially destroy your friendship, and he cherished you too much by now for that to happen.
“No, say it back.” You retorted firmly, eyes glaring into him. God this was pathetic, and you for sure felt embarrassed but you couldn’t stop yourself, you needed to hear him say it back to mend at least a little bit of your breaking heart. “We always say it to each other, for years we’ve always said it, why are you suddenly being like this?”
The tears in your eyes were humiliating you, this all felt so immature; Minghao was right, you were making a big deal out of it, but it was out of your control now. And Minghao could only watch silently, mouth agape and heart racing. He didn’t expect it to affect you this badly - he didn’t expect it to affect you at all! The words he needed to say were clogged in his throat and he was frozen in place on the sofa. The two of you were just staring in a dead silence - apart from your snivelling and the cries you tried to swallow down. If there was one thing Minghao hated most in the world, it was seeing you in any kind of distress.
“I love you.” He said suddenly, a bit too fast and eager than he intended to say it, but he said it. He shot up from the sofa, rushing to console you in your sensitive state. His words made you cry a little harder and you tried to step away from his touch, purely out of shame and mortification. “I love you, okay? There, please don’t cry.”
“You’re only saying that because I told you to!”
“No! I do love you Yn,” He exclaimed. It was all coming out now, and Minghao had no power over the words that were waterfalling from his mouth. “I mean it, I’m not just saying it for the sake of it. It’s just,” Minghao breathed in, thinking about how he was putting this friendship on the line. But, there was no going back now. “It’s just, I really love you, in a way that I definitely shouldn’t. And I didn’t wanna say it back because it, well, it hurts. Knowing that, you know, we don’t love each other the same-”
“Says who.” You blurted, your glossy eyes wide and hopeful. Minghao was taken aback, finding an inability to form any kind of sentence at all. “Who said I don’t love you like you love me.” Your throat was closing up and your legs were about to give in and buckle.
“Do you mean that,” Minghao uttered breathlessly. “Promise me you’re sure of what you’re saying right now.”
“I’m sure, I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
And that was Minghao’s green light. His hands flew to cup both sides of your face, screwing his eyes shut before he had a single second to hesitate, and he connected your lips to his. A wash of relief flooded his body when he felt you reciprocate immediately, not one moment of delay in your actions. If he could, he would’ve stayed like that forever - but his chest was tightening with the lack of air, and so he pulled back. When your eyes met, you never missed how his pupils expanded, practically taking up his whole iris.
Whilst the two of you stared at each other, his hands never left your face; his thumbs stroked against the apples of your cheeks. The warm, fuzzy feeling in your chest could only expand so much before you burst into a beaming grin, a song of laughter, which sounded just so heavenly to Minghao, erupting from the back of your throat. Your arms latched around the back of his neck as you pulled yourself as close to his chest as humanly possible. And the two of you stayed like that for a while, tight in the others embrace.
“I’m going to go to the shop now,” You said when you broke away, the dumb smile never leaving your face. Minghao’s expression only mirrored yours though. “I love you.” You said, eyes widening in a playful manner as you waited expectantly for his answer.
Minghao only laughed loudly and wholeheartedly, leaning in again for a sweet, but brisk kiss. “I love you too..”

#— jeon wonwoo “sun&moon”
established relationship angst & fluff 1.2k words
“You're the sun, you've never seen the night
But you hear its song from the morning birds
Well, I'm not the moon, I'm not even a star
But awake at night I'll be singing to the birds.”
“What do you think brings soulmates together?” Wonwoo asked. The question caught you off guard slightly, the heavy question interrupting the long period of silence between the two of you. From the stars, your eyes shifted, settling on your lover besides you. His eyes stayed ahead, hiding behind his glasses; dots of stars mirroring against his newly polished lenses. There was a somewhat doleful expression glossed over his face, his bottom lip tucked between his front teeth — something he’d do when overwrought or out of sorts. In an attempt of comfort, your hand grabbed onto his, intertwining your fingers together. Wonwoo didn’t budge.
“I’m not sure. I think fate just finds us, guides us along to our lover, ya’ know? And, I think fate treats the patient with kindness; the more you go out of your way and try to find your soulmate, the harder it gets. They’ll come naturally, when you least expect it. Then, things seem so much brighter, so much better and,” You were rambling again. Your lips pressed shut and your eyes darted up at Wonwoo. “What do you think?” You asked curiously.
“I,”He breathed quickly, giving himself another second to think. “I’m not sure.” He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the sky, afraid that if he looked at you for anything more than a single second, he’d crumble. It was silent again after that.
“What’s on your mind, Woo?” You questioned him. There wasn’t a response from him right away, and you didn’t expect there to be. You let him take his time to try and put his words together, stroking the knuckles of his hands with the pad of your thumb. Every so often, he’d open his mouth to talk but then quickly close it again.
“Do you really think we’re soulmates?” He asked, suddenly.
You looked at him, assessing his expression, but it was still and never-changing. You blinked, and your eyes watched the cluster of stars above you. “I think we are, yeah. I’ve had a feeling of completion ever since I’ve been with you. I can’t say that my heart really felt empty before I met you, but now, it’s full, overflowing!” You responded with a growing smile. “I’m absolutely sure we’re meant to be, Woo! In every planet and universe, our names are written together. We’ll find each other in every life, the universe will always bring us back to each other, I’m sure of it.”
Wonwoo could feel the dry lump in his throat grow, he swallowed thickly. His face burned red but he blamed it on the cold weather.
“Do you not think we’re soulmates, what’s got you thinking otherwise?” You asked, your curiosity blending into something unfamiliar, perturbation.
“It's not that I don’t think we’re soulmates or anything,” Wonwoo sputtered, worried he’d got the wrong message across. “It’s only that, well, we’re so different.”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“Nothing, there’s nothing wrong with being different! I love how different you are to me, it’s a good contrast I just,” Wonwoo trailed off, growing frustrated and his poor communication, his thoughts and words were clashing. “You’re like… let’s say, the sun. You’re the sun, you’re bright, cheerful. You’re kind and caring and everyone sees it, everyone loves you because you’re just, good to be around, it’s healing to be around you, people just feel better when you’re around. You’re beautiful, you’re passionate about so many things and you’re so good at what you do; you’re so optimistic and you’re always helping everyone when they’re down and you’re just, well, nothing like me. I’m dull, I’m gloomy. I’m quiet and awkward and can’t keep a conversation to save my life. I can only see the bad in things, people feel drained after they’re around me and I just,” He breathed shakily, feeling as if he was talking way too much - but you had an expectant look on your face, wanting him to finish his sentence. “I just don’t understand why the universe would bring someone like you to me. I can’t help but feel like you need someone better. Someone who matches you more, you know.”
“Wonwoo…” You uttered. Guilt began to consume you, you only wished that you’d been able to recognise Wonwoo’s insecurities earlier and be able to help before it festered into this. In the dim moonlight, you could just make out the reflection of fresh tears against Wonwoo’s cheeks. “I… I’m sorry you feel like that. Whether you choose to believe my words or not is your choice but — I think you’re more than enough for me. You're blind to the things that I see in you, you don’t realise what a beautiful person you are. And, some people have lovers who match them well - where they’re almost the same person! Some people need that kind of person in their life. But, there’s a lot of people like us, who’re completely different from each other. Polar opposites. The universe doesn’t treat any person the same, and for us - they gave us someone from the completely other end of the spectrum! I like it that way, I think we compliment each other well, we ground each other, you know?”
And after what felt like an eternity, Wonwoo finally turned to face you. The solemn expression remained on his face and tears continued to leak from his eyes. Even out of everything Wonwoo had pointed out about you, all of your perfections, he didn’t fail to recognise how awful you were around crying people. It made him laugh lightly, your stiff and tense body, wary wide eyes watching him. Wonwoo was quick to wipe his tears to try and rid you of your unease, laughter not yet leaving him.
“Did I say something funny?” You laughed with him, thinking back to your speech. Wonwoo shook his head and scooped you into his arms. There, you melted in his touch, content that you made him feel at least slightly better than before.
“No, you just look so scared when people cry. It made me laugh.” He answered, damp cheek pressing against the top of your head, his hand running up and down your arm. “You’re always so good with your words, you know.” He mumbled and you smiled, thanking him kindly. “I’m sorry for that outburst, it just came out of nowhere really…”
“You shouldn’t apologise, clearly you’ve been holding that in for some time,” You said, craning your neck to look up at him. “I love you a lot, really.”
Wonwoo smiled bashfully, his cheeks blossoming with a deep shade of red. Even after all your years and months together, maintaining eye contact with you in your intimate moments still made him shy and nervous, and so he quickly screwed his eyes shut, leaning down to connect your lips to his. He pulled back with a breath, briefly meeting your eyes. “I love you too, a lot … really.”

#— kim mingyu “horror house”
established relationship fluff & humour 1.6k words
“Am I not right in saying that you said this would be romantic? This doesn’t seem very romantic to me — no offence.” Huffed a very disappointed Mingyu. Latched around his left arm was you, a tight grin on your face. Earlier that morning, you told Mingyu that you planned out a date for you but didn’t spare any details - only stating that it would be very romantic, but as Mingyu stated; it was the furthest thing from it. Because here the two of you were, in the entry of a ‘horror house’. You didn’t want to lie to him, but you knew it was the only way that you’d get Mingyu to come here with you.
He wasn’t the best when it came to scary things. He didn’t like to watch horror movies, he hated hearing your many ghost stories that’d always have him leaving all the lights on in the house at night. And so, he wasn’t exactly thrilled to be entering a horror house - especially foreseeing the teasing he’d be getting from you when you guys left. Plus, his disappointment was plausible. He really did think that you guys were gonna have a sweet, romantic date that he’d been looking forward to all day - but now his heart was racing as the queue was shortening quickly. “You’re not mad are you?” You asked him smally. He looked down at your big, apologetic eyes and sighed inwardly. If he really thought about it, it could be romantic in a way: you two stuck together as he speeds the pair of you through the house, making some jokes to mask his fear — you’d come out with some funny memories at the end of the day! He shook his head with a tiny smile and watched as your demeanour shifted. “Good, I wouldn’t care if you were anyway.” You snorted and took a step forward in the line. Mingyu’s lips pressed into a firm line and he looked up, feeling his heart drop a little, you guys were next to go in. ‘I could run off while I still have the chance.’ He thought to himself, but fought against it. Mingyu was a coward, but he wanted to prove otherwise that night!
“Ok, next please.” The staff member called out, ushering you and Mingyu forward, checking both of your wristbands before letting you in through the doors. Mingyu took a deep breath, before exhaling out a sigh. In the corner of his eyes, he could see you looking up at him with an amused smile on your face, and maybe if he didn’t love you so much he would’ve beat that delight out of you.
“I can’t believe you. Do you really hate me this much?”
“Yes.”
“Huh? That wasn’t supposed to be your answer-“ Mingyu began to whine at your taunting but a loud bang thundered from behind you, causing not only Mingyu, but also you to whip around. Whereas Mingyu could feel his soul leave his body, you began to laugh - seeing nothing behind you and assuming it was just an automated sound from the hidden speakers. “Gosh I really hate this, it hasn’t even been 5 minutes and they’re already trying to give me a heart attack!”
“Pfft you talk too much. Careful not to piss your pants while we’re here, okay?” You mocked him jokingly, pulling him further into the house. You didn’t mean to be so unkind, but his reactions were just so funny! Mingyu thought about bursting into tears to make you feel any kind of remorse for him, but he knew he’d never live it down realistically.
“You’re really horrible. To your own boyfriend too, do you have a soul or are you just empty and cold in there?” Mingyu ranted, his eyes narrowed and he kept his vision ahead of him. You bit back a smile, feeling a little bit sorry.
“Hey, I’m not that horrible. You’re just so funny when you’re scared,” You responded, which caused Mingyu to roll his eyes with a scoff, trying to shake you off his arm, but you kept your grip tight. “Don’t shake me off! You know I love you, right?” Your voice softened and you halted both of your movements to lean on your tip-toes and press a light kiss to his cheek.
Mingyu’s face burned red for a good few seconds until the colour drained from his body at the sudden high pitched scream emerging from the room only a few steps away from you. The door flung open, bashing into the wall and a tall, beefy figure surfaced - shadowed out by the light behind them. Mingyu was tall, you knew that, but this guy was way taller, and you began to regret all your teasing towards Mingyu - as a sudden wave of fear began to flood your own body.
You didn’t know what you expected, perhaps anything but for the masked man to run straight towards you and Mingyu, the rip of a chainsaw sounding through the small room.
“Mingyu…” You muttered, frozen in place. Mingyu wasn’t responsive at that moment though, his mind completely crashing. “Mingyu!” You shrilled, only watching as the actor came closer and closer at a disturbingly fast pace. With not a lot of thought in that terror-clouded mind of his, he simply scooped you in his arms and lifted you into the air, making a bee-line for the open door. With only adrenaline and panic fueling his body, he managed to make it through the door extremely quick. And when the coast was clear - after slamming the door shut, practically throwing you onto your feet - he hunched over to take multiple deep gulps of air. His eyes shifted to look over at you.
“Shut up.” You snapped, before he could even utter a word. Mingyu, however, was relishing the feeling - bursting out into laughter. “Mingyu shut up.” You whined out, burying your heads in your hands. Expectedly, his laughter didn’t die down for a good few minutes and you could only sit and let karma bite at your ass. “I get it. Shut up now.”
“This is great, honestly. You’d be a snivelling mess in there if it weren’t for me, wow!” Mingyu beamed, and admittedly, you were a little disturbed at how truly happy your fear had made him.
“You’re sick. Can we move on now?” You grumbled, watching as he approached you. He crouched down, offering out a hand to help you up with a condescending smile prodding at his lips. You could tell he was about to make another snarky remark until there was a loud banging on the other side of the door. It was amusing, really, seeing the smirk on Mingyu’s face drop in a matter of seconds, and his hand falter. “C’mon. Balls of steel. You’re not scared are you?”
“I know you’re not talking-“
The banging proceeded, getting louder by the second. The both of you knew the door was about to burst open at any given second - and there the two of you were, frozen in place just waiting for it to happen. Your eyes widened as you the sound came to an abrupt stop, and the doorknob twisted back and forth; more gentle than you anticipated. So focused on your own terror, you didn’t feel Mingyu’s arms wrap themselves around your waist, preparing to bolt it to the second door.
“Mingyu.” You whispered, barely audible. He didn’t say anything, only looking over at you. Your eyes met, and for a few seconds, you didn’t say anything. For a split second, Mingyu thought he’d feel the warmth of your lips on his own - but you only spoke a quiet, almost hushed “You’re still a pussy” before the door swung wide open again and the pair of you jolted to your feet. Once again, your feet were ripped from the floor below you as Mingyu thrusted you into the air and over his shoulder — darting to the door with no other thought in his mind.
This time though, Mingyu doesn’t stop to catch his breath. He keeps running, not giving the actor behind you a second chance to catch up. “So you bring me to this stupid ‘abandoned house’ to try and scare me,” he begins to rant. “But then, I have to ragdoll you through the place?” He breathes, and for a second, thinks about throwing you onto the floor and leaving you on your own. But, Mingyu had achieved his goal after all. You couldn’t tease him about being gutless when this was his second time saving your ass.
It wasn’t long until the two of you had made it out of the house, and immediately you were planted straight back onto your feet. Mingyu’s eyes bore into you, dull and unamused and you only smile sheepishly at him.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that, you can’t say you didn’t have a good time, right?” You chuckle with a wobbly grin. Mingyu only proceeds to look at you with the same unmoving, irritated expression. Your grin widens, showing your full palette of teeth, and you latch yourself onto him, arms securing themselves around his torso. “Wow. My boyfriend is so brave! How’d I ever get lucky with such a fearless man? Gosh, I know no one’s messing with me any time soon if they know I’ve got you around.” You drawl, looking up at his avoiding eyes.
Although he knows you’re only joking (though he hopes you’re at least only half joking), he can’t help the faint blush that dusts his cheeks, whilst he chews the inside of his cheeks to hold back his smile.

#— kwon soonyoung “funfair”
established relationship fluff & humour 1.4k words
“Let’s all meet back here at 9pm, alright?” Seungcheol said. Crowds of people filled the area, it was a night of Autumn, drawing close to Halloween; meaning the amusement park was decorated with spooky banners, Halloween themed music played out of every speaker and actors dressed in scary costumes creeped around the park. You, your boyfriend and his 12 other friends decided it’d be a good idea to come down and spend a night at the amusement park. You’d always loved rides and such and so you were pretty ecstatic when Soonyoung mentioned the idea. After a few rides together, laughing at the faces of your friends in the pictures taken on the roller coasters, everyone decided to split up to do their own thing. Seungcheol headed off to a nearby restaurant with Jeonghan, Jihoon and Seungkwan. Vernon, Dokyeom, Joshua and Dino all hurried their way towards a popular horror-maze. Minghao and Junhui dragged Mingyu to the tallest rollercoaster they could find, Wonwoo following behind them laughing lightly, which left you and Soonyoung to do your own thing.
You watched Mingyu get dragged away as he cried out in disagreement, and only when they morphed into blurry dots is when you pulled your attention back to Soonyoung - who was already looking at you with a fond smile. “Your cheeks are red, you know, are you cold?” He stated, but didn’t give you much time to respond before he was unwrapping his thick woollen scarf from his neck and bundling you in it. He tucked the material into itself and his hands quickly made their way to cup your cheeks. “There we go, better right?” He hummed, and leaned down to peck the tip of your nose. Maybe if your face wasn’t already painted red from the cold, Soonyoung would’ve been able to spot you blushing. His hands fell from your face to link with your numbing hands, which he quickly stuffed in his coat pocket. “So, what do you wanna do first? Are you hungry, are there any rides you’re desperate to go on?”
The two of you began to walk. Despite you being trapped with your hand intertwined with his, Soonyoung kept you close to him; anxious of losing you in the very hefty crowds. You walked at a slow pace, getting distracted by every ride you walked past, or when an actor would jump out of a bush to scare you, causing you to yell and stumble closer to Soonyoung, the both of you laughing. There was a huge ride in front of you, a good 70 metres high and right at the front of the queue stood Mingyu. He caught sight of you, practically begging you to help him with his big, pleading eyes; but to his avail, you put an ‘encouraging’ thumbs up with a not-so-empathetic grin. A little further on, you dragged Soonyoung onto a drop ride, very tall and very fast. Considering you were the one who brought him to the ride, your boyfriend seemed a lot more relaxed than you. Whilst you waited in the queue, you’d wrapped yourself around his torso, ear pressed against the beat of his heart and you continued to watch the ride, stepping closer and closer towards the entrance. Soonyoung’s arm rested loosely around your waist, and he looked down from his phone - a grin forming on his face. “You’re not nervous, right?” He asked with a quiet chuckle.
You pressed your lips into a firm line. “Of course not.” You responded quickly and huffed through your nose. “It’s only a drop ride, we went on scarier rides earlier.” At this point, you were trying to convince yourself more than Soonyoung. He backed down from saying anything more, knowing that in a few minutes you’d be screaming your voice away.
And he was right, every drop had you shrieking for the whole park to hear, whilst he laughed continuously beside you, his hand almost broken and mashed by the intensity of your grip. The two of you stepped off the ride and Soonyoung could only continue to laugh while you took a few minutes to recover, letting the colour that had drained from your face restore itself. “So, you weren’t nervous?”
“Shut up, Soonyoung.” You interrupted him, a breath of laughter following. “Gosh I feel like Mingyu.” You thought out loud, then pictured Mingyu being probably around 30x more terrified than you.
“No more drop rides?” Soonyoung asked with a wobbly smirk. You only sighed at his teasing, desperately pushing him away from the ride and onto another destination. You stopped outside of a barn, decorated to look abandoned and creepy. Stumbling out in a clump were Vernon, Dokyeom, Joshua and Dino. Dokyeom had a face that fear could not describe, whilst Joshua and Dino stood to his side, laughing and poking fun at him; Vernon looked as calm as ever. You passed by the four with a wave and headed to the queue. You felt a new pair of hands on your shoulder and spun around to face Junhui and Minghao.
“Can we join you in the maze?” Jun smiled, squeezing your shoulders. You nodded, and wondered for a second where Mingyu and Wonwoo had separated themselves off to.. it was more than probable Mingyu was hunched over a bin throwing up somewhere.
The entrance to the barn was eery to begin with, dark and the far away sound of screams from people at the end of the maze. You and Soonyoung shared an excited look and his head dipped, face dangerously close to yours. “If you get scared, grab onto me — I’ll protect you.” He grinned and pressed a delicate kiss against your lips, much to Minghao’s distaste, “Ugh, gross.”
The staff had finally let you in and you and Soonyoung were giggling in excitement and a mix of nerves. It started off pretty tame, some expectant jump scares on corners you had to turn, some of the actors standing rather sinisterly in the distance, just watching you walk. The whole time the four of you managed to find humour and make jokes. Further down the maze, your fear began to heighten. You’d reached the outside area and it was no lighter than inside the barn. After a pretty frightening jumpscare, Minghao grabbed ahold of Junhui’s wrist and practically ragdolled him through the rest of the maze - abandoning you and Soonyoung completely. The two of you watched in disbelief and the other pair zoomed off into the distance, and you groaned; two less people making the whole experience a lot more creepy. Soonyoung was about to make a smug comment about you being scared, and how he’d be your hero, when a hand suddenly latched itself onto your wrist, causing you to shrill and flail, ripping your hand from the actor’s grip. Your eyes widened at the sudden sound of the rip of a chainsaw and your head snapped backwards. An actor in a disturbing costume was making his way towards you two, and at an increasingly fast pace. Perhaps if you hadn’t started to laugh, you might’ve cried in fear? You cried out Soonyoung’s name as a mix of a laugh and a high-pitched wail. In a matter of seconds, you’d been lifted into the air and thrown onto your boyfriend’s shoulder as he sprinted towards the exit. An uncontrollable laughter began to escape you at the scene unfolding, infecting Soonyoung, “Don’t make me laugh, or I’ll end up dropping you.”
Your eyes were screwed shut when Soonyoung had passed the exit, Minghao and Junhui already waiting for the two of you, laughing in amusement at the sight. He gently planted you on your feet, chest puffing and heaving whilst you buckled to the floor in laughter. Minghao and Soonyoung were already arguing about how they’d abandoned you. A few moments passed and you’d both collected yourselves. “Pfft, aren’t I just the best, saving your life like that.” Soonyoung boasted, flexing ridiculously, adding to your laughter. “Am I not worthy of a kiss?” He hummed sweetly, bending down to your height. Behind you were protests from a disgusted Minghao and Jun, begging you to take it elsewhere; you managed to tune them out though, leaning onto your tip-toes, just about able to connect your lips with his. You pulled back, with an even sweeter smile.
“Thank you, my hero.” You giggled.
