Not that it took particularly much on that account, but it still meant that Sibella's sympathies could be found out. "Yet, I am cautious to speak the words I'm sure you wish to hear. After all, it's not impossible she could be listening, or her assistant could be near enough to hear."

It wasn't a cop out to not pledge loyalty to the count and the other monsters, even if it likely seemed to be. The alchemist was simply very aware of how she could easily be caught in a web in this moment, though whether it was his web or Victoria's was not yet clear. Perhaps both in some way, even if they operated separately out of hate for one another.

Her arms crossed across her chest, taking a step closer to the vampire's containment. She could just barely feel the rush of electricity on the skin of her hands and face. It was then that her voice lowered to nearly a whisper. "After all, does it not help to have a contact on the outside, to make eventual escape a closer reality?"

The alchemist knew how many scoured the earth for immortality. As much as she herself had some gratitude that she found the key, she also feared what could happen if widespread immortality was achieved. Sibella planned for her life to end eventually, after she felt she had done her duty, after she found peace within herself.

She couldn't imagine that this was the sort of extended life that Victoria Frankenstein saw when considering the elixir of life.

"Humans have caused their own share of pain... I have a disdain for capture and torture due to what I've seen. I'll be candid, that it is those who see monsters in every waking moment that hanged my mother and burnt my younger brother at the stake. I think those who are wicked enough to relish in the suffering of the innocent are of all walks of life." It was truth, painful yet strongly believed. It caused her turmoil in much of her existence, especially in a place like Darkmoor; it seemed allegiance was expected in some way, and that alone reminded her too much of why her family were executed.

Sibella's grey eyes met the pale pink ones before her, not defiant, but certainly not groveling. They were equals, were they not? She would respect him, but ignore her own worth. "Immortality is not for the betterment of man, nor is resurrection. I know enough of both to say that it should not be ours to decide." She'd made her bed, and she'd lie in it until true end came. "Victoria kills to save life, tortures to find the salve, and that is not sustainable. Whatever I am, I do not stand with her."
