I don't care what anybody says, Richard and Judy were best friends.

Pookie was a total liar because he wanted to fit in with the greek weirdos, saying that he found her annoying and that she was dumb but actually? He constantly went out with her and from the way he talks about their conversations it looks like he interacts with her fairly often, at least often enough that going out to snort cocaine in a burger king's parking lot sounds more like hanging out with a friend than going out with someone you barely tolerate.

Also, from what Richard tells us Judy is not someone known for pretending, she is honest in her dislike for Henry and the twins and yet she sounds genuine in her care for Richard, like when she was worried about Richard's eating habits after Bunny's murder, she genuinly likes having Richard around and constantly invites him to hang out even if he rejects her invitations more often that not.

I truly believe that Richard's honest opinion about Judy and her clique comes out after Bunny's murder, he is happy with them, likes them well enough and admits having a great time with them, even with Frank and Jud.

In summary, Judy and Richard were always friends but because he is a lying punk that wants to belong to the snobbish classics cult he pretends that he can't stand her
