To learn which questions are unanswerable, and not to answer them: this skill is most needful in times of stress and darkness.

In reading a novel, any novel, we have to know perfectly well that the whole thing is nonsense, and then, while reading, believe every word of it. Finally, when we’re done with it, we may find — if it’s good novel — that we’re a bit different from what we were before we read it, that we have been changed a little, as if by having met a new face, crossed a street we never crossed before. But it’s very hard to say just what we learned, how we were changed.

About Ethan and Kat
So I’ve seen a post here, on Tumblr, in which was written that Ethan was shamed by Kat for being a virgin. But in my opinion, the things were sort of more complicated. Not a while ago Kate lost her virginity on a party to some random guy with no feelings attached. Nevertheless, it was quite a moment during which she could feel vulnerable and in no control. As Barbie Ferreira, who portrays Kat, told in interview: Kat is taking her power back. Thus, Kat wants to feel in control, to be in charge of men, so they cannot hurt her. So, coming to my conclusion, when Ethan told Kat he’s a virgin, Kat remembered the times, how it felt to be a virgin and how many emotions it could have involved, but these thought were deeply repressed by her. Nonetheless, subconsciously she knew she can't take his virginity as it would be similar to her experience. So when the thought “no I can't take his virginity” came out, she needed to justify it, that's how she started covering it up by showing off as a tough heartless lady. Also it seems like for now Kat cannot face her emotions (she keeps avoiding them by creating a façade) , and that's adds to why she didn't want to be with a guy, who can provoke her to feel something.
Just wanted to share my thought :)  So impatient to watch the next episode! Btw the 6th episode was my favorite by far.
