Log Date 7 16 2: This is Peridot... newest member of the Crystal Gems. Attempts to contact Homeworld have ceased after negotiations with Yellow Diamond fell flat and focus is being shifted completely to the drill project. Indefinite Hiatus
[[Okay so.  This probably doesn’t come as a surprise because I have been gone for another long period of time and the reason is because my life keeps getting more and more hectic.  Medical problems primarily, both with myself and family members, my aunt is dying, I still RP but I can’t maintain this blog anymore!
I still have muse for Peridot I just have no time or energy.  I am open to private RPs if someone were interested, contact info can be found on the about page. Apologies to those I had RPs with, I just can’t keep it up anymore.]]

Peridot leaned away by increments as the gem began practically shouting.  She took a nervous step back, unsure of how to even start responding.  If she got a chance to respond.  Labradorite didn’t seem to be leaving many opportunities for her to get a word in.
“...Uh... I...”  She huffed, looked away.  “I don’t understand why Yellow Diamond behaved like she did... This planet could be of use but she didn’t even stop to listen.”  Petty.  Just like trying to blow her up in the next moment had been if she were honest.
“Well, I won’t be going back in any case.”
“Rational?” Labs laughed. She was about ten seconds away from a full on rant. There were things she could say, things she most certainly wanted to say, Time away from Homeworld had drastically changed her views on the Diamonds and now the mere mention of the matriarchs was enough to completely set her off.
“Rational wouldn’t be starting a war over a single planet when there are nine more in this solar system alone! Rational wouldn’t be practically outlawing fusion between different gem types when it literally always makes a being more powerful than any same gem fusion! Rational would be simply mending an injured gem rather than having the constant fear of being shattered for failure looming over your head so you’re too scared to go back to base when you end up cracked so you end up alone for five thousand years!”
That last part may have been a little personal, judging by a sudden spike in volume and very prominent shaking in her hands. But thankfully it was also the end of her rant and she crossed her arms furiously over her chest.
“But whatever. As long as we’re not gonna die that’s all that matters.”

Peridot immediately narrowed her eyes.  Her own authority.  Not even a Diamond association given!  How was she supposed to simply give in to such a request?
Midway through the slamming got her attention and Peridot stared wide eyed at the message as she waited for any sort of sign that her new... contact... was even still alive.  Which she did get.  Eventually.
“Well I’m afraid I can’t just give you things on ‘your own’ authority unless you have some proof that your authority exists!  What was all that crashing?  What’s going on?”
Excellent! Finally, a ping. Benitoite had been waiting for months to speak with anyone worth speaking to. Though it was the may Benitoite was most intrigued about. A rather audacious peri- Wait a moment! Did they say Earth? Splendid! A, more than likely, frustrated Peridot without connection or confirmation to their superiors stranded on Earth! Benitoite was only asking for information on Terra because of its similar geographical and environmental qualities. But this was better than he could have hoped. Benitoite sent back a response.
“Ah, excellent to finally make contact. I am requesting the aforementioned information on my own authority. ”
Just then a rather large meteor collided with the ship causing Benitoite to slam into a nearby wall. But more importantly, a covering slipped from a wall in front of the camera. It revealed a map of the finished Earth project with scrawled writing on it that it things like ‘idiocy’ and ‘inefficient’.
Meanwhile, Benitoite weakly coughed out “Beniotite…..out.” He pressed a button ending the transmission. Those tremors were certainly unpleasant.

Peridot crossed her arms, making a show of actually thinking.  “I suppose so, go ahead.  Just don’t touch any buttons or else it might set something on fire.”
“Woah.. so much stuff” Black Star gasped as her eyes went to all the boxes inside the barn.  Then they went to all the tools and plans scattered about.  Stopping when they reached the robot.
“Oh my stars!  Can I touch it, Peri?!  Please let me touch it!”

Her nose wrinkled.  “Inefficient.  I’m only a couple centuries old but our Diamonds are much, much older.  Gems don’t ‘age’ like you say, we can only be shattered.”
Percy should his head. “No. We go through cycles of life. Infancy, adolescence, adulthood, and old age… Do you not die of old age? How old are you?”

Peridot frowned.  “We’re not all going to die!  We’re making great strides in not dying and I don’t plan on falling behind now!”  Not after everything had worked so hard to shatter her, Peridot had managed to live this long she intended to keep living.
Even despite her recent... estrangement, the insult to the Diamonds made her reel back in surprise.  “I...”  She sighed.  “They’re supposed to be perfectly rational,” she said after a moment, the disappointment heavy in her voice.  Supposed to be.  But she’d seen too well that they weren’t.
The smile fell flat.
“Buddy you are not helping my anxiety levels right now” Labs groaned. A small crew. A small crew working on what was literally the biggest problem in the history of the planet. A small crew headed by a single Peridot. Now, Labradorite tried very hard not to judge others based on class, but one single Peridot was not very reassuring.
“You know what? Just stop” she sighed, rubbing at her face and mussing her hair. “Just I don’t wanna know anymore. Forget I asked. The more you tell me the more I’m thinking I may as well start working on my bucket list now because we’re all going die and I’ve never even seen the grand canyon even though I been on this planet since the war ended!”
“Who blows up a whole planet, honestly?” she muttered, just shaking her head in disbelief. “So what, they couldn’t win the war so they blow it up? Bunch of petty freaking children. These are the reasons I hate diamonds.”

“Explain ‘hobby’.”  She wrinkled her nose up.  “I’m unfamiliar with it.”
“Yes well… your… ‘boss’ then.  Your ‘boss’ is still a superior, correct?  Or is even that somehow twisted around on this planet?”

She gestured vaguely.  “Young gems emerge fully formed from the kindergartens. It’s only a matter of education to prepare them for their role.  Is that... not how organic life does it?”
Percy’s head was reeling with how much he had to describe that was simply lost on the little alien. “They’re… Small young creatures that… Do you know what an adult is? Do you not grow larger as you age?”

Peridot looked up at the drill, then back down to Black Star, letting her have a moment to look over the interior.  Mostly just a barn, not much to get excited over, but with the drill there at least there was something to look at before she led her back to the robot.
Black Star not out a quiet snort as they got closer to the barn.  “I said I’m not upset.”

And just like that Peridot scrambled backward with a terrified squeak, falling onto her bottom when she lost her balance.  Not knowing what else to do, she cringed down with her arms up over her head, awaiting a blow that would surely poof her, if not shatter her.
Tumblr media
❝if you even dare try to harm the Earth, then i will have to stop you immediately…. ❞ her voice grew strong, giving out her warnings before she would do any real harm or damage to the gem. she seemed to be very loyal to Yellow Diamond, Rose wished she wasn’t a part of that conflict
❝i really don’t want to do this but you leave me with no choice…❞

“...What’s a child?” She twisted her face up.  “I’ve never been described as one before.”
Percy seemed to be blinking a lot as Peridot spoke more. “Oh you poor child.”

Transmission 714: Adressed to Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG.
It seemed text scrolled quickly down the computer screen in a blue tint as bored voice said the following
“Automated Message Begins”
I have been sending this message systematically to every known Peridot in sector A34B and at the time of submission, recieved no response. If you are reading this, I can only hope you’re not as dull as the buffoons that dispatched onto this fool’s errand. I am Benitoite 5NH7 Cut-X32. The purpose of this message is to request any and all research material on planet designation: Terra.
“The message is over, buffoon.”
Peridot had nearly lost her screen configuration when the unexpected message popped up.  She jumped back from it, eyes narrowing as she scanned through the text, mumbling words along with the autmoated voice.
“The message is over, buffoon… buffoon?”  She puffed up her cheeks, giving the screen an incredulous stare.  “…Who does this Bentoite think she is?”
Still.  A Homeworld gem deserved a response at least.
“Transmission 507: Benitoite Facet 5NH7, Cut X32.
I am currently located on planet designation Earth and have received no orders regarding the dispersal of research materials in this sector to anyone but Yellow Diamond.  However, pending confirmation from my manager, I may be able to transfer the files to your location as well.  Under who’s authority are you asking for them?”

Back on homeworld a job like this would have a massive crew working on it.  Forty Peridots at least with multiple managerial gems overlooking the whole situation.  They did nothing this important by half measures.
Earth had its limits though.  Peridot’s prideful grin dropped by just a bit.  “We have... a small crew working on the situation.”  Herself.  Pearl.  The other three helped where they could, but the driving force of the engineering was her and the Pearl.
Not exactly a top notch handling of the project if she were honest.  “But it’ll be fine!  There’s nothing to worry about!”
Peridot didn’t sound as sure as she’d been a few seconds ago.
Weirdly, Peridots complete at utter lack of concern was somehow reassuring. Labs was clearly on the border of freaking out, but the green gem didn’t seem to care, like there was nothing to worry about. So, maybe there wasn’t?
“Yeah, yeah okay yeah that’s good, it’s good it’s all sorted out” Labs said, wearing a forced smile, trying to convince herself she didn’t have some serious doubts. “I mean like you said, you’re building a thing and you got this totally handled.”
“Do you like, got a crew you’re working with or something?” she continued, looking about curiously. “I mean you can’t be dealing with something this big on your own, right? Probably a whole bunch of gems working on this, this is a big project after all, real big.” She may have started rambling and picking at stray threads on her top. There was still some very serious concerns.

“Like the Kindergarten.  And... other stuff.”  She frowned, eyes refusing to lift from the ground.  “Experiments.  Did you really not know there were experiments on this planet?”
Tumblr media
❝checking on things? like what?❞ she asked. she was associated with Yellow Diamond so it was fair enough to ask why her reason or duty was in this planet. she couldn’t trust the gem until Rose got to the bottom of everything.

░ ☹ ░ - Considering the fact that she had literally no memories of homeworld, Topaz didn’t really understand where Peridot was coming from with the talk of superiors.
“ I don’t know what thats supposed to mean, the only ‘superior’ i have is my boss at work and honestly i don’t think she cares that much about my personal life.”

“Like accomplishment?  I felt that when I achieved my certified kindergartner classification.  Or is it more a feeling of... bigness?”  She was running out of words to define it already.
“… You’ve just asked a question that philosophers have been disputing for millennia… But I can try.
"Umm… Happiness is… Um… Spirits. A positive emotion that makes you smile and gives you energy, is one possible definition.”
