hello!! we're a band from south london called bears in trees. we sound a bit like if one direction wrote folk punk music, and i was hoping you'd hear us out. 'why!' i can only assume you're asking. that's cool. i can explain.

well bands don't tend to go on tumblr anymore which i think is sorta lame, because this is where we got into fandoms and fell in love with the artists that are the reason we make music today. so if you want that sort of community then! hopefully we can help.

we write songs about descending into the dirt, starting campfires at house parties, working at gay bars, and trying to realise you're deserving of love. i guess that can be pretty serious but we try to keep it posi.

hi! we’re a band from south london called bears in trees. my name’s nick. i’m writing this (i’m the one below, on the right). this might be sorta long, but hear me out.

we’ve been a band since we were 17. we started off writing songs in iain’s basement (they’re the ginger one w/ the dope mullet) after school. we would just write about the things that matter to us, and we’d write music as long as people listened. and people have been listening. which is quite frankly astounding but, ykno. roll w/ the punches.

if you were wondering, we write songs about:

- becoming friends with worms!

- starting campfires in gardens!

- climbing rooftops!

- realising you’re deserving of love!

just the stuff that matters to us.

we’ve been on tumblr since 2014 (and we were running fandom blogs waaay before then too) and being able to support a community that wasn’t there for us when we were growing up is what matters to us. we have a discord server where we have film nights, a minecraft evenings, and just general hangs for everyone. as long as you’re kind to bugs, you’re welcome. and if you’re a fan of us you’re called a sandbox - it’s hard to explain why but you’ll get it. 

anyway, we’re really hoping 2021 is gonna be our year. 2020 has already been very strange for us - we got signed to a record label called counter intuitive that we love very dearly, and made a lot of new friends, and everything is looking really positive. so if you want to get into a band before they get big and sell out, maybe we’re a shot! i mean, also maybe that wont happen. but we’re hoping that one day this will be our livelihood and we’re gonna keep trying.

to that end, it’d mean a lot if you could reblog this or tell a friend about us who might be interested. we don’t have a lot of money and anyway, it’d be pretty dumb to try and pay yr way to success. we’re just here vibing. hopefully you can vibe in our general proximity too. but ykno, no pressure!

if you're new here then hi! we're a band from south london called bears in trees. we call ourselves a dirtbag boyband but you can call us whatever you want. we released a new song today called ibuprofen - it's about realising you're loved by your friends after 8 years of your school, your trauma and your own mind telling you that you aren't. it's very close to our hearts. self love isn't always pretty and aesthetic - sometimes it's breakdowns and tears and friends holding you close while you doubt your own self worth. that doesn't mean it's not progress. progress is a process.

anyway, we were hoping you could help us. we really want to make it our biggest song yet, and while we have the support of an independent label (which is fantastic!) we don't have a manager or the kind of links bigger bands in the industry have. that's why if you could tell your followers, or reblog this, or mention this to any friends who might need to hear it that would mean the world. we grew up on tumblr and got into most of our favourite bands on here, so if that could happen in reverse for someone else that would be a dream for us.
