Holden knew he could come across as an ass but he didn’t really mean to make her feel bad. He sighed and picked some stuff from the pile. “I shouldn’t have asked. I’ll gladly help you. I’m Holden, by the way.”

“I know,” Ella muttered, seeming to half curl in on herself at the scolding. “I’m sorry, I’m okay. I’ve gotten myself into it, and I don’t need to hinder you.” she explained, taking a few more shaky steps in order to peer at the man from around the stack.

“What are finals?” Daniel asked curiously, bouncing on his toes. He didn’t really care, but he was bored. “And why are they eating you alive?”

“I’ve spent the last three days just laying in bed sleeping and listening to the Hamilton soundtrack on repeat. Finals seem to just eat me alive every year.” Holden said with a groan. “I’m just glad it’s over.”
