Five Favorite Characters Poll (Tag Game)
I was tagged by @fallintosanity today and I'm miraculously doing this in the same 24 hour period.
Rules: make a poll with five of your all-time favourite characters and then tag five people to do the same. See which character is everyone's favourite.
Tagging (no pressure): @mayalaen @peachonified @threshie @leatafandom @amarriageoftrueminds (sorry if you've already done this)

Five Favorite Characters Poll (Tag Game)
I was tagged by @avianscribe! (a while ago, whoops >.< )
Rules: make a poll with five of your all-time favourite characters and then tag five people to do the same. See which character is everyone's favourite.
I don't really have all-time favs so much as favs by fandom so we'll go with my top favs from the fandoms the most people are likely to know:
Tagging (no pressure!) @ageofzero , @characteroulette , @notactuallyherenotreally , @turtlewobbles , @hitthebooksposts , and anyone who wants to give it a go!

Thank you for looking into it @fallintosanity 😊
I'm in a bit of a Lord of the Rings mood.
(Must be the evenings getting darker, earlier.)
Anyone know of a decent lock screen image of Aragorn opening those doors?
I've had a Google around and I'm not finding anything that's really phone dimensions worthy.
☝️This but still, and tall.

SPREAD THE WORD! ZINE, PLEASE! IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR UPCOMING THIRD VOLUME!
The third volume you've all been waiting for is here! Following the success of our previous two volumes, the Zine, Please! team is proud to announce we'll be bringing you another volume full of Check, Please! goodness made by the fans for the fans!
As with our previous iterations, this will be a multi-month affair, with sign-ups happening in October 2024, check-ups happening throughout the process, and the zine being published in free PDF format in June 2025.
This volume's theme is.... #TripleTrouble!
'Swawesome things come in threes! For this volume, we want you all to explore the shenanigans, celebrate the triumphs, and dive into the inner workings and dynamics of all your favorite Check, Please! trios!
There's endless trios to choose from, some more familiar than others. I mean, who can forget the most iconic canon trios? We're talkin' Ransom, Holster, Lardo! We're thinkin' Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot! We're screeeamin' Chowder, Dex, Nursey!
If you're willing to go outside the box, think about trios you'd love to see together who the fandom hasn't seen! Who among us is brave enough to put the Jack's Type Trio of Bitty, Camilla, and Kent in a room together? Hell, we could even take a dive into Deep Fandom Lore that OG fans may remember with the No Chill Trio of Lardo, Nursey, Kent.
Be it everyone's faves with polyfrogs, tadpoles content, or unlikely trios we'd all kick and squeal about, it's all welcome for this volume!
Gather your fave Check, Please! trios, go forth, and wreck havoc with #TripleTrouble!
Sign-ups open October 15, 2024!!!
More specific guidelines will be released when sign-ups open. 'Till then, look forward to seeing feature posts for previous amazing zine contributions, fun polls, and more from our team! Make sure to check out our carrd for our FAQ, previous volumes, our contributor server, and more info! ---Zine, Please! Admin Team Zine, Please! Carrd

What is wrong with people?!
FFS.
If this is how readers are thinking, those of dealing with real life and wanting to write have no chance.
Reasons why people might not be updating their WIP fic anytime soon (rant incoming, plus mentions of loss and death)
They're not interested in the story anymore.
They're not interested in the fandom anymore.
They have too many plot bunnies and they've moved onto the next one.
They've lost all confidence in their writing abilities.
They're interested in a different hobby at the moment, like gaming or crafting.
They're busy with school/university.
They're busy with school/university and working a job.
They're busy with school/university, working a job and being a carer for an adult member of their family.
They're busy with school/university, working multiple jobs and being a carer for an adult member of their family.
They're busy working a job.
They're busy working multiple jobs.
They're busy being a carer for an adult member of their family.
They're busy being a carer for an adult member of their family and working a job.
They're busy being a carer for an adult member of their family and working multiple jobs.
They're busy being a carer for an adult member of their family, studying and working a job.
They're busy being a carer for an adult member of their family, studying and working multiple jobs.
Their psychological health has been poor and there are no spoons available for writing.
Their physical health has been poor and they find it physically difficult to write.
They have long COVID and the brain fog is making it not fun to write.
They've been put off due to shitty comments from readers.
Their personal belongings and home were destroyed in a natural disaster.
Their personal belongings and home were destroyed in a weather event caused by man-made climate change.
Their personal belongings and home were destroyed in a war.
Their writing devices were stolen.
Their writing devices were taken away by a parent or guardian.
They gave birth and are busy caring for another human being.
They gave birth and are busy caring for another human being and working a job.
They gave birth and are busy caring for another human being and working multiple jobs.
They gave birth and are busy caring for another human being and studying.
They gave birth and are busy caring for another human being, studying and working a job.
They gave birth and are busy caring for another human being, studying and working multiple jobs.
They adopted and are busy caring for another human being.
They adopted and are busy caring for another human being and working a job.
They adopted and are busy caring for another human being and working multiple jobs.
They're in an abusive relationship and their partner found out they were writing fanfic and has now stopped them from writing.
They were in an abusive relationship and their partner found out they were writing fanfic and stopped them from writing, and they've now gotten out of the relationship but they don't feel like coming back to fandom yet.
Someone close to them died and they just don't feel like writing anymore.
The writer died.
Why someone might not be updating their fanfic anymore is none of your fu*king business.
There are other reasons beyond the above as to why someone might not have updated a WIP that you're desperate as a reader to have updated.
Some circumstances may have existed before they started writing, some may have developed during. Many writers could be impacted by more than one circumstance at the same time.
But it is your fu*king business to not badger the writer for updates.
It's not a privilege to get a comment on a fic that's all "next chapter please". It's a pain in the ass reminder that there are entitled assholes out there who can't even begin to imagine why something might not be getting updates. And also it's annoying when readers can't be bothered to see that as the 20th person who's left such a comment on a fic that it's clearly not going to lead to a new update soon, let alone read the author notes to see if there might be a hint as to why no updates might have been given.
Fanfic writing and posting is a voluntary act, it is not commercial.
No fic author is obligated to write fanfics or finish them, or post them whole. If you don't filter on a site like AO3 to avoid incomplete works, then that's on you, not the writer.
You want the reassuring drudge of consistently published fiction, go back to reading commercially published novels.
