welcome to my side of the internet. there are many things on my interests list, some of those being reading, climbing, yoga, and eating colorfully. im 22, living in memphis, an infj, and probably won’t respond to your messages unless they’re about books.

i am so encouraged by strangers. not knowing someone cultivates this boldness of heart i can barely explain, but that is where i see the hope of God. i see kindness beyond measure between strangers, giving a smile at a red light in the midst of chaos behind closed doors. the choice to share compassion and joy every day speaks so much louder than living in between the lines of the story that is inevitably being written.

What does it mean to eat colorfully? Best mountain or hill that you've ever climbed?
i believe in the power of plants. genesis is a good reference point here, as god created his people to eat plants in the garden in perfect unity with him before the fall and redemption story! phytonutrients (nutrients only found in living plants) are powerhouses at fighting and preventing disease, maintaining a youthful elasticity in the skin, and combatting any environmental disrupters like poor air quality that might affect one’s overall health.
i’ve been climbing indoors for about three years now. two years consecutively in nashville where i lived with my family in high school and now in memphis where the first indoor gym (a nonprofit too!) opened last march to serve the underpriveleged community surrounding it. i’ve o n l y been on one outdoor climbing trip which was Holy Boulders in southern Illinois and it was beautiful— i am quite eager to go on my next trip but financially and because of duties taking care of my grandmother, i haven’t been able to jump on all my desires to travel for a while.

sunday multitasking —
starting book number three in the wildwood chronicles today and i am just more and more in awe of meloy’s writing. his imagination is so wild and has so many twists and turns and does it effortlessly. i wish i had read these as a kid. this series might really become a yearly re-read.

good morning, fellow humans ¨̮
[im almost done with book two of the wildwood chronicles and this author’s creativity is out of this world. his social commentary is really hitting home in this post-industrial era we’re currently navigating. it’s really impactful to see the fictional horrors of some people’s true hearts and intentions.]

“for some reason, it’s like my heart isn’t in the Outside anymore. it’s there. there in the Wood.” she pointed angrily at the horizon to the west. “i’m a Woodian, curtis. North, South, Wild. what i do now, i do for the tree. i’ve been called. nothing can change that. you’ve got your oath and i’ve got my calling. my life in the Outside is over.”

my boyfriend kaje moved into a tiny home in midtown last week, and there’s nothing i would rather do than take a nap on the loft bed after being fed by his mom at brother junipers, wake up to soft happy folk tunes, and finish my book (under wildwood by colin meloy) on a saturday.
this is such a fun stage of life turning moments of joy and bliss into memories i’m going to miss in a decade. i love memphis more than i could ever imagine.

born in mississippi in 1927. scottie has years of experience in flight attendanceship, being a mother of four, working with top clients at the best memphis travel agency, a feisty doubles tennis player, an a-one grandmother, and a great-grandmother. my garney is the absolute coolest. basically a queen. she started showing signs of memory loss about ten years ago and it’s been slowly impacting more and more of her life and brain function ever since. she’s 92 (for heaven’s sake)! sometimes i don’t know what’s just being an old person and what’s the disordered condition (alzheimer’s). she still has her joy and spunk with her on most days. other days, sun downers will get to her and she will be up until 2 : 30 thinking something is true that she can’t articulate and is really antsy and anxious about (example: needing to fix up the house for imaginary company or needing to meet people somewhere or take something to someone... reality? it’s after midnight. nah. no one is gonna go anywhere!). i hate that her brain plays tricks on her, but i still have my garney around and i’m learning and growing in patience and grace more than i ever thought i would be. let the praises be.

Grace has been defined as the unmerited favor of God; and if unmerited, then none can claim it as their inalienable right. If grace is unearned and undeserved, then none are entitled to it. If grace is a gift, then none can demand it. Therefore, as salvation is by grace, the free gift of God, then He bestows it on whom He pleases.

[living is much more enjoyably approachable—knowing that death has been conquered and that which was leading me to my death has been redeemed, not because i am worthy, but because i am loved despite.]

about me
#firstpost
h e r e goes!
a little bit about me: i’m 22, live in memphis, tennessee, and am a very multipassionate heart. long walks in the morning are my jam. i’ve actually wanted to make my own jam (goal this summer.) i love toast before bed with a cup of tea. i can’t start a morning without coffee (this is becoming problematic). i enjoy pursuing organic health in this packaged preservative prescription world we live in. i work at a nonprofit climbing gym and mentor a few kids in the surrounding lower income area. Colin Meloy is my favorite modern author and Francis Hodgson Burnett is my go to classic. Mary Oliver and William Carlos Williams have swooned my heart with almost all ink they have put to paper. Dancing birds in the wind portray such divine elegance. One of my all-time favorite things is to imagine stories with the clouds rolling by on a sunny day. A talking fox smoking a tobacco pipe will always be a scenario I hope to run into in the magical woods (thanks colin meloy). Sequencing a yoga class is an exciting project i will always be a little jittery about because it’s one of my creative expressions. my own daily yoga sessions usually end with lots of dancing or a good nap. I’m almost 100% sold on essential oils being complete magic. My grandma (i call her Garney) is 92 and has Alzheimer’s. I live with her and take care of her and she’s my best friend. She has taught me more about the Lord and about true joy than anything else in my life. She’s such a blessing.
Well—that’s about it!
Want to have a book club together? or study biblical text? discussion on whether bouldering or top-rope is better? possibly want a new pen pal?
