like????? gideon wants to work on a particular story?  will pays a lil trip over to the office and suddenly his boss is not only insisting gideon’s gotta go after that story but alsO that he needs to pay him more to do it!! and, even if gideon ~did know that will was a vamp, he would literally never tell him that he did anything about it!!!!! bc that’s will’s brand of friendship?????? just roll ur eyes at ur bestie in person and then make things happen in secret, ig???? idk laksjdfjklsdf ‘idk man ig ur boss just isn’t as idiotic as i thought,’ *claps him on the back and makes him a drink* will????? is barely functional alksdjfkljsdf anyway

so yeah???? also this whole bit officially makes gideon one of thE most important ppl in will’s life (sorry, violet alksjdfkljsdf) and like there’s pr much nothing he ~wouldn’t do for gideon, but at the same time, he likes to sorta pretend like he just is all laconic and just ehhh idk????? how to describe…like…will doesn’t want to ~appear invested in other ppl bc he views that as a weakness, right?  so he can be an ass, but also ONLY GOOD THINGS ALLOWED when it comes to the ppl he really cares about so i feel like he’s just…really weird until you know him well enough to understand this about him which, tbf, atp gideon likely does??? (which…will would hate bc being known is a weakness but also gideon is one of like three???? ppl in the entire world that he actually trusts so laksjdfkljsdjf) but yeah!!! even to his bestie…gotta apologize for this dude in advance laksjdfakljsdfjkdsf

anyway, so gideon doesn’t know that will’s a vamp…do you think will knows that gideon’s a werewolf?

SLKAJFSJKDLF ok so!!!!  i deF think that will and gideon are opposites in a loT of ways, and will is defffffff impulsive af…i do think a lot of that comes out of being pr close to invulnerable and also frankly hella bored since he’s 700 years old, bc i suspect he had to have a certain amount of caution at one time to make it this long laskjdfkjlsdf but also a lil daring too so he’s always been a ~bit reckless but i do think he understand’s Gideon’s wish to understand and investigate first…but he also finds it a bit confining now bc he’s like ‘FUCK IT’ and just…does his own thing and he’s gotten pr used to that and doesn’t like being held back or reigned in.  in general, he’d just do what he likes, but he will pause for gideon and tbh that’s actually a huge deal????? tho he probs plays it off like its…not lakjsfjksf bc will even ~appearing to actually ~try????? not gonna happen alskdjfkljsdfj

but honestly he should thank his lucky stars that gideon ~did prove unflappable bc tbh i do think a certain amount of the bad impression he makes it…intentional???? part of him does seek to drive ppl away (that being said, part of it isn’t intentional…he’s just an ass so yknow laksjdfkljsdfj but here we are)

weirdly, i think gideon is both right ~and wrong about will?  bc, while he def has the ability to be better (and at one time was), he ~isn’t currently, so he’s right that he has that in him, but he’s wrong that he ~is that, if im making any sense??? but i do think that Gideon does bring out the best in him at least in his mindset if not necessarily all of his behaviors ajsdfkjsdjkf bc gideon is someone that’s he’s not 100% selfish about bc he will on occasion prioritize gideon’s happiness over his own…smth he justifies to himself (bc he doesn’t wanna believe he’s going soft alskdjfklsjdf) by being like ‘well i can sacrifice this rn bc i can come back and enjoy it in a hundred years, but gideon only has a few lousy decades so if he’s ever gonna be happy he’s gotta have that thing now’ and so he’ll actually occasionally put his own happiness aside to help gideon get his happiness which for will…unheard of!!! lasjkdfskjdf but yeah also he literally attacks, kills, and eats ppl so…slkdjfadklf

i def think that they have to have been friends for at leasT a couple years for gideon to have gotten through the various layers of asshole will’s built around hmself in order for will to care about him, yknow?  but yeah its probs less than 10 years, since it doesn’t seem weird yet that he hasn’t aged so????? 5+ maybe?  what do you think?  and how do we think they met in the first place?

So, I feel like Gideon has honestly found out a lot of the things that Will has gone and done behind his back b/c when things don’t make sense, that’s when Gideon investigates but I also think he realizes that yes,this is how Will shows affection and so he just ignores it and pretends like he had nooooo idea how it happened ;D (I also don’t think he picks up on all of the times, but I think he definitely suspects it a lot at this point)

HAHAH I feel like Gideon is out here balancing a lot of his more ~impulsive~ friends (looking @ u beth) and if it wasn’t his constant lot in life, it would probably be exhausting but I think Gideon honestly just puts himself into these situations a lot~~

Also, I started saying some of this on Gideon x Aaron, but I do think a lot of people are like “Hey, Gideon -- Will did xyz!!! I don’t understand how you are such good friends with him!!!” And then Gideon is there to defend Will and let him know that he probably didn’t mean it like that or whateVER and has probably talked to Will, too, about how xxx person felt about yyy thing that he did & basically Gideon is out here trying to make Will a better person while also hoping that other ppl will actually give him a chance, too!!!

I also think that Gideon does view Will how he is towards him and doesn’t realize that Will doesn’t really have the interest of being that person towards everyone else??? Like I think Gideon just thinks that Will is someone who keeps most people at an arm’s length and its easier to treat people the way he does that way, but Gideon thinks that if everyone could see what he sees, they’d realize that Will isn’t like that all the time and has the capacity to be good and do good, etc. etc. and honestly I think he has a lot more faith in Will than Will probably deserves but that’s Gideon for you!!!!!

Basically Gideon thinks that Will’s ~goodness~ towards him is his actual nature and not the exception to his general asshole rules alsdjflasjflasdjf

But yeah, I think being friends for about seven years or so is good?? I’m not entirely sure how they met, as they seem to run in different circles, but idk maybe they first met at a party or a bar or idk maybe Gideon was covering an art exhibit or something?????

i just need gideon being the sensible/practical/good head on his shoulders at all times partner to beth’s almost bursting at the seams with chaotic energy cos she’s just so happy to be here?? and be a reporter?? every day she’s asking herself What Would Anderson Cooper Do? and then proceeds to do something Anderson Cooper would probably never do (sorry Anderson Cooper)

i’m here for gideon keeping her in check always!! i feel like her siblings and her close friends have kind of always sheltered beth and over-protected her. having someone like gideon around who keeps her in check but also getting that she’s An Adult that is responsible for her own decision making and needs to learn on her own that there are!! real life consequences!! for her actions!! and she can’t get away with everything by smiling and laughing awkwardly!!! except yaknow sometimes she does……….. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh, he definitely is!!! And honestly, I feel like b/c of that, Beth is also the one who is going to jump to the supernatural conclusions before Gideon, too. Like he’s going to try to justify whatever they’ve just seen with ~science~ and ~facts~ and Beth is like “we just saw a guy turn into a wolf?????”

I so agree!!!! I think Gideon ~protective~ in his own way, but he’s not one for shielding her from the truth!! tbh he doesn’t think that will help her at all, especially since they won’t always be partners and she needs to be able to do all of this on her own and how else will she learn??? Ofc he’s not above giving her advice and strongly advising her NOT to do something, but he’s certainly less controlling than Aaron & Nicole would be in the same situation (@ beth sorry, they just love you a lot  <3) I also think it’s kinda obvious that she’s been sheltered a little too much in her life haha

I’m also imagining that Beth was driving when they were in their car accident and was a little distracted by the directions or her phone going off or something and Gideon took control of the car and saved them from dYING and Beth felt terrible about it but then after GIdeon got checked out & realized what was happening to him, he told Beth that she saved him too b/c without her, it would have been way too late and now he knows his time is limited and he can delay the effects and basically I like the idea that they both saved each other that day??

I’m honestly sensing a pattern here where everyone here is like “We’d trust Gideon with our lives, except he’s friends with Will Stark which just doesn’t seem on brand” ;DDD

I also feel like Gideon is constantly trying to run interference between Will & literally the rest of the town! And like defending him to other people, but also going to him and being like “hey that’s not cool -- i know you probably didn’t mean it like this but it’s how it came off” @ will

Anyway! I do think he and Aaron could still be friends and I think, more than once, he and Beth have probably stopped by the bar where Aaron works after work to say hi and grab a drink if it’s been a stressful day.

And I just realized that he and Aaron are the same age, which means they probably went to school w/ each other and have known each other forever, and I can definitely see them being friends? (honestly if they weren’t already they are now b/c they definitely bond over the stress it is trying to keep beth out of harm’s way <333)

HAHA I love that Gideon’s red flag is that he’s friends with Will lasjflsjflskjflaj oh! but Sophie also dated Luke, who is one of Gideon’s best friends, so I think they might have seen a lot of each other back then? (And since I’m guessing Luke also doesn’t like Will -- I feel pretty confident with that one #sorrynotsorry @ Will -- I’m guessing that she probably saw a lot of Gideon w/o Will first?)

Anyway, I feel like Gideon would definitely like Sophie and probably thought she and Luke were great together! I also don’t know how much this comes up on things he’s working on, but I think he uses her as a source whenever he’s reporting on something where historical backstory is helpful!

I’m very excited for these two idiots! Honestly I feel like Gideon sometimes get a little frustrated with her at times (Gideon: no, we are not exploring the creepy tunnel next to the crime scene in the middle of the night w/o cell service) and ngl finds it a little exhausting trying to keep her from doing something stupid when in pursuit of a story -- but at the end of the day, she’s rapidly becoming one of his closest friends and he’d honestly do literally anything for her??? Do not let his sighs of exasperation fool you, there’s no where else he’d rather be. ;DD

Also, idk about you, but I feel like these two are destined to somehow end up in some kind of scrape that they are completely unprepared for when they finally stumble onto what’s really going on here

Gideon is definitely someone who likes to have all of the facts ++ know exactly what is going on before he makes a decision on anything (#reporterlife) and honestly that also includes when he’s getting to know someone because I feel like Will doesn’t always make a first good (or second or third) impression, especially depending upon the circumstances one meets him under. ;DD

And while Gideon definitely doesn’t know about his vampire!tendencies, I do think he believes that Will is a better person than most people give him credit for and that he just needs to be given a chance b/c he’s just ~rough around the edges~ 

He doesn’t believe Will is a saint or anything, but he would be shOCKED to know that he’s, y’know, killed a bunch of people drinking their blood ;D 

I’m not sure how long you think these two have been friends, but I feel like it has been several years for them both to have reached ~best friend status~ but also recent enough that Gideon hasn’t been suspicious that Will looks exactly the same age he did when they met haha

loves working with her since she’s an excellent writer and investigator but also because she tends to always put the story before her own safety and he likes being there to be the sensible one

definitely feels like there is more going on here than just lots of random animal attacks but he doesn’t have any solid evidence to this yet 

determined to find out what is going on almost to the point of destruction tbh (his own but never beth’s)

was in a mild car accident recently with beth while on the job and when he got checked out, they found he had glaucoma in one of his eyes 

had they caught it sooner, he might have been okay, but the doctors believe that he will eventually go blind 

has kept all of this to himself because he doesn’t want anyone to treat him differently, but he’s definitely throwing himself more into work because he doesn’t know if he can keep it up when he looses his vision

the only person who does know is beth, since she was at the hospital with him and he swore her to secrecy 

honestly has been in love with molly olson but it’s never really been the right time to tell her about it – not to mention he thinks she might be more interested in dating luke/paired with the fact that he really doesn’t want to ruin what they have and would rather have her in his life as his friend than nothing at all
