is this what it was like in 9/11. trying to reason with people whose entire concept of human decency flies out the window when presented with the possibility of causing the smallest amount of harm to a "terrorist", no collateral damage is too large, no civilian too innocent, no connection too murky for people to deserve to die or be permanently crippled. people citing world war two urban warfare statistics to try to make a bad situation seem less worse and not balking at how fascist they sound

It’s interesting to me when people are absolutist about perspective (I NEVER read first person etc) because for me it just has to be the right choice for what you’re trying to do.
First limits our worldview and is perfect for anything with an unreliable narrator, or where we are seeing an individual go on a growth journey.
Second is inherently complicit. It takes skill to pull off, but can create an incredible sense of claustrophobia or persuasion when done well.
Third allows scope, and allows us to decide the scope. Are we on the shoulder of the main character, allowing for correction of their limited view? Or are we far away, seeing multiple perspectives and allowing that broader sense of place and space?
What always gets me is when it’s the inappropriate perspective (and trust me I’m awful for it, I had to restart 30k because I realised it was the wrong one!) If you are saying something about the world around a character, first is often going to be a poor choice. Or if your lead character isn’t particularly good-getting or reflective or otherwise strongly drawn. Equally if your story is about that character navigating their perception of something, first probably is best, but remember you can’t then just pull out into viewpoints they just wouldn’t have. And finally second has to have the courage of your convictions. You have to do the narrative equivalent of holding somebody’s face in your hands for a whole book - are you ready for that?
#literally. yes. it's a concious choice the writer makes just like setting and time period and names#i get having a preference but blocking yourself off from ALL books of a certain perspective just screams you're an immature reader Sorry.

gaza-evacuation-funds
Hello, I’m Doaa, 21, and a mother of two. I was close to graduating from the Islamic University of Gaza, but the ongoing war has disrupted everything. My daughter Malak, who has Down Syndrome and heart issues, can’t get the medical care she needs. My baby, Masa, is living through a dangerous and unstable environment.
Since October 7, we’ve been displaced multiple times and are now cramped in a tent in Al-Zawaida with 10 relatives, facing severe conditions. We lack food, medicine, and basic necessities.
We need your help to leave Gaza, find safety, and restart our lives. Any donation will greatly assist us.

I am Mahmoud's wife. Unfortunately, I wanted to inform you that my husband Mahmoud was injured in the head, which caused a skull fracture that descended onto the nerves of the brain and affected the nerves of speech, hearing, and sight.
Mahmoud's condition is very critical and he must go abroad for treatment. He was injured 3 days ago and underwent surgery to clean his head. The doctors are telling us that he needs to undergo a major operation to remove the shrapnel or fix it to the skull bone so that no nerves in the brain are cut off.
Please donate and share this post widely so that we can get my husband out and receive treatment abroad.

i think it's actually entire possible to be pro-piracy/anti copyright law while also thinking ai art is also bad for artists. like i think those two mindset don't contradict each other at all, and i find the belief that in order to be "pro artist" you have to be "pro-copyright" to be honestly pretty frustrating lol (and vice versa i guess it's 2am i'm tired)

hi, i'd like to point to a palestinian fundraiser that's reached out to me: hadia, mother of two, has stomach issues and urgently needs surgery. her son is also suffering from malnutrition. this fundraiser has been vetted by 90-ghost here.
so far she has reached €2,945 of her €50,000 goal. this is by far not enough money to evacuate with her family and make it to egypt, where she and her son might receive treatment. please donate to her fundraiser if you have anything at all to spare, and reblog to spread the word!

Please don't look away 😢 😔
I want to introduce everyone to Abdullah. He is the younger brother of @ahmedpalestine and his short name is Aboodi he is four years old and in the picture above. Aboodi is helping his family collect scrap wood to build a fire for cooking. He likes this, trying to help his mom with chores and, love, do anything for his family. Aboodi loves animals so much, and he always feeds the neighbors' stray cats and loves to pet them and play with them, and if not for the genocide that he and his family were trying to survive it, he would have adopted a kitty 💗 and poor things he wants to go back to his house, and he misses the living room and laying on the sofa to watch TV and to watch toyor aljana (طيور الجنة) his favorite channel and sing along and dance with them and please donate to help evacuate him with his family to safety .
Vetted by bilal-salah0 here
Thanks everyone for making the campaign reach it's first goal now we need to gets to next as quickly as possible 🙌🩷❤️
