Hello, I am very sorry to do this but I am growing desperate. I am a Jewish lesbian who lost her job during the pandemic. My boss promised me my job back when restrictions were lifted but instead blocked my number and refuses to talk with me when I tried to talk to him and I've learned he has hired new workers for cheaper than he was paying me. I've been trying to find work as my unemployment is next to nothing now and I'm running out savings. My car was even stolen in September. If that wasn't already bad, I am soon going to be taking care of my younger sibling. My parents are struggling to care for my siblings themselves as they also lost their jobs and are immunocompromised. They are receiving payments for unemployment benefits soon, but still need help so I am trying to take one of my siblings in to give them some relief. My sibling is an adult but need lots of care due to their mental health. I can provide them with those resources here as well better than my parents can. I don't know how well I will do for long however and I'm worried about paying for the bills next month. If you can give anything at all it would be greatly appreciated.

i think the animosity between those who were laid off/let go during the pandemic and qualified for unemployment, the ones who were told to work from home, and the “essential” workers is really interesting. like there are genuine grievances between each group with the way conversations about the pandemic are discussed and the varying impacts the pandemic has had on members of each group and it is something that deserves time and understanding in order to really comprehend each persons point of view
but there’s so much anger and bitterness there and when a member of one “category” discusses the way the pandemic had impacted them, the other groups are so quick to interpret that in the most “bad faith” way possible. and i think it’s a really stark visual of the way working class/poor people are so often pitted against each other in a way the prevents any sort of class cohesion.
even making this i feel like there’s those who will read it and go “well you must not have been an xyz because if you were youd know why we felt this way” and i get it! i do. but the other people struggling through a completely unwinnable situation are not your enemies. the ones who have the power to fix things, the ones who have the money and the resources to make life easier for everyone else but make the conscious choice not to are the ones who deserve your anger, your resentment.
