       To be perfectly honest , Lucifer didn't see himself as a good partner for the longest of time . . . especially after the messy situation with Lilith , and more so worried about how Charlie would feel about him dating other people ; with Verosika , though ? That all really didn't seem present . . . as apparent by the soft kiss he plants on her lips .

       ❝ I can tell you had a long day at work , wanna talk about it ? ❞ their eyes meet , the pair taken a seat at the foot of what used to be his and Lilith's bed . . . but now that honor was shared with succubus that sat beside him .

The King of Hell snaps his fingers, and suddenly from behind a veil of red devilish smoke? A beautifully ornate bouquet of roses shaped like a duck falls into Verosika's hands. Then a smile, not a toothy grin, but a loving smile.

romantic  gestures  was  never  really  something  verosika  was  able  to  process.  truthfully,  she  hated  these  kinds  of  things�� because  she  knows  that,  at  the  end  of  the  day,  people  are  just  after  her  for  the  fame  and  alcohol  and  all  the  fucked  up  things  that  comes  with  being  in  verosika  mayday's  entourage...

but  this  wasn't  just  anyone.  this  was  LUCIFER.  the  king  of  hell...  who  was  much  more  thoughtful  than  she  was  ever  expecting.  hey,  supposed  he  had  to  be  a  bit  charming  to  have  bagged  a  lady  like  lilith  --  but  also  foolish  to  have  had  her  let  him  go.  still,  it  was  a  perfect  set  up  for  the  two  of  them.  which  lead  them  to  this  moment...  huh...

            It was true when they said that sometimes you don't realize what you say in the heat of a moment . . . and in this particular instance ? That was more apparent than any occurrence previously , ❝ What'd I say ? ❞ his eyebrow raised , an expression of genuine confusion on his face . . . sure , they were in the middle of an argument . . . but the words in question were slipped from his recollection .

            It had been like this for quite some time , the two once devoted lovers now bickering and fighting at nearly every corner . . . their marriage in a clear state of decay without any present signs of repair ; worst of all ? He couldn't even begin to imagine what it was doing to his beloved Charlie . . .

            . . . ah , that was it , the source of their argument , ❝ All I'm saying is . . . I'm not the one trying to keep a daughter away from her dad ! ❞ there was just a tint of venom in his tone . . . his love for their offspring was unrivalled , and being kept at a distance from her was something that truly bothered him . . . even if his underlying depression was a part of the reason .

             Lucifer wasn't really sure what had spurred the comment on , or for that matter what he was supposed to do with that nugget of information ; in fact , he wasn't really used to compliments . . . like at all , probably because he spent so many years cooped up inside .
