Had so much fun writing the most recent chapter of my bad batch fic! If you’re looking for a hunter x reader story where the reader is a Jedi on the run, consider checking out the rest of my story on wattpad. I update it multiple times a week.
On The Run
Chapter 6
The Bad Batch and I had been hiding out on our little oasis for a few days now. Over the past few days, I had felt the most calm that I had in a long time. With the clones around me, I felt protected and safe. Even though there were people looking for all of us, we were together and were going to look out for each other. In fact, I had grown quite close to the clones over the recent days.
Each clone was unique in their own way, each having different tendencies and quirks that made them special. Echo was kind and resourceful, always standing up for what was right. Tech was honest and clever, never afraid to share the facts, even if to a fault. Wrecker was funny and sometimes childish, but in a way that brought joy to those around him. Omega was curious and compassionate, sometimes getting into trouble because of it. And Hunter… Hunter was the most interesting of all.
I was drawn to Hunter in a way that I knew could potentially be problematic. He was a fierce protector, a loyal friend, and a strong leader. All honorable, and attractive, qualities. As a Jedi, I was taught to let go of attachments as fear of those losing those attachments can lead to a path to the dark side. But lately, those attachments have become my motivation to keep going during these difficult times. I have felt more alive in recent days, happier since joining this interesting crew. Instead of letting go of these feelings, I found myself wanting to embrace them. But that’s not what Jedi do. So I found ways to keep them out of my mind, but not fully cutting myself off from them.
It had been a quiet few days and some members of the group were getting a bit restless. “I want to explore. See the sights!” Omega complained.
“It’s not safe, Omega.” Hunter explained. “It’s too risky.”
Omega let out a long sigh. “But I’m sick of sitting around here. And we haven’t noticed any signs of the Empire, why can’t we just go into the town for a quick visit and come right back?”
Although I agreed with Hunter, Omega’s argument was appealing. It had become rather boring and seeing something new would be a good change of pace. Despite my better judgment, I decided to go out on a limb. “I could take Omega into town.”
“No.” Hunter replied immediately.
“Come on, Hunter. You can’t expect her to sit around in hiding for the rest of her life. If just she and I go into town, we can easily keep from drawing too much attention to ourselves.” Hunter opened his mouth to say something, but I interrupted him. “And we can handle ourselves, can’t we, Omega?” Omega nodded assuredly.
Omega and I looked at Hunter with hopeful eyes. He sighed, “Fine, but don’t be gone too long and keep your coms on.”
Omega jumped up and gave him a hug. “Thanks, Hunter! I promise you won’t regret it!”
***
Omega and I walked through the village, stopping at different stands set up in their small market area. With my hood on, I made sure no one was able to get too close of a look at me. Although this was meant to be a leisurely trip, I found myself in a defensive mode. Constantly scanning my surroundings, making sure that no one approached either of us. Always keeping an eye on Omega, making sure she was safe.
We had decided that it was probably time for us to head back to camp when a large shadow loomed over the market. Looking up, I saw the underbelly of what appeared to be a pirate ship that was making its way to land. I grabbed Omega by the shoulder and pulled her into the closest alleyway. We watched the pirates disembark and my heart dropped into my stomach.
The group of pirates casually walked into the marketspace, clearly having been here many times before. The villagers handed over credits and items without question, but with obvious disdain. Leading the group was a confident looking weequay by the name of Hondo. He and I had had a few run-ins during the clone wars. On many occasions, he had helped the Jedi, but was also known to do whatever would benefit him the most. With a bounty of my head, I knew that he would only view me as a goldmine.
While I had been contemplating an escape plan in the event Hondo saw me, Omega must have been realizing what was happening to the villagers. “This isn’t right…” she whispered. Outwardly upset by the arrangement the pirates had with the locals. Soon after, a disagreement broke out between one of the pirates and a young villager.
Within seconds, the villager was shoved to the ground as the pirates ransacked his stall. I went to grab Omega, to pull her further away from the action, but to my horror she had run out towards the commotion. “Leave him alone!” She demanded, standing between the villager and the pirates.
“What do we have here?” Hondo stepped forward and motioned to Omega. “A little mouse that has lost her way.” The pirates in his crew laughed scornfully. “Step aside, girl.” Hondo said more seriously now.
Omega drew her energy bow, “No.”
“Foolish child.” Hondo sneered. “Remove her.” He commanded his pirates.
Before making one of the most foolish decisions of my life, I spoke into the com device that Tech had rigged together for me, “Get to the town now and ready the ship. Things are about to get messy.” Hunter’s panicked voice came over the com device, but I turned it off before I changed my mind. I steadily moved my lightsaber from my pocket to my hip, readying it in case the worst happened.
“Do not lay a hand on her.” I yelled, my voice carrying over the commotion of the moment. Hondo turned and our eyes met. Surprise covered face first with a greedy look following before it returned to his unsettling calm charm.
“Long time no see, my Jedi friend.” He called to me. Shocked whispers rang through the crowd that had formed. I placed my hand on my lightsaber. “I would ask what you’ve been up to, but in light of recent events, I’m sure I could take a guess.”
“Leave the girl alone, Hondo.” I demanded.
Hondo ignored my request. “I’m sorry for what happened to you and your friends, you know.”
I took a deep breath, easing my nerves and emotions that were boiling up inside of me. “Let her go, now.”
He threw his hand to his chest, feigning hurt. “No small talk? No catching up? You’re not happy to see an old friend?”
All I could think about was getting Omega to safety. Even if it meant risking my own life, or my capture. His crew were growing antsy, things were escalating and I would do what needed to be done. I drew my lightsaber, “I’m not going to ask you again.”
Any amusement on his face vanished. “I have a better idea. You, in exchange for the girl.”
As our showdown was reaching its zenith, a familiar figure moved from out of the crowd and stood in front of me. “I’m afraid that won’t be an option.” Hunter said, his blaster pointed right at Hondo.
If Hondo was nervous, he didn’t show it. “I like these new friends of yours, Y/N, they’re feisty.” He smiled, pausing to take in what he thought would be his triumph. “I’m afraid it has to end this way. Truly I am, but business is business.” He said darkly, and signaled his pirates to move in.
“Now!” Hunter yelled, and immediately smoke bombs exploded, covering the area in dark smoke. Hunter grabbed my arm, pulling me towards his escape route.
“What about Omega?”
“Don’t worry, Wrecker and Echo got her.” Hunter assured me.
Within moments, we heard Echo’s voice over the com channel, “We’ve got Omega.”
“And I’ve got Y/N. Tech, meet us at the rendezvous.”
“On my way.” Tech responded.
As Hunter and I ran around a corner, we reunited with Wrecker, Echo, and Omega. The five of us continued our maneuvers with Hunter leading the way. The whir of the Marauder’s engines sounded from above as Tech moved into position. We boarded the ship as quickly as we could. I took one last look towards the village and locked eyes with Hondo. To my surprise, he saluted me and turned back to his crew. He always kept me guessing, I’d give him that.

On The Run
Chapter 4
The Marauder landed at the refueling station, a bleak looking depot that seemed to have had better days. We disembarked and gathered together as Hunter gave orders, “Tech, Echo, you two see to the ship. Y/N and I will try to find some rations and other supplies.” He looked at Wrecker and Omega. “You two… just try to stay out of trouble.”
“Can do, boss.” Wrecker said confidently, but was met with doubtful looks from the others.
“We’ll be fine.” Omega assured. And with that, the group went their separate ways.
Omega and Wrecker, bound and determined to not cause any issues, headed back into the Marauder to find a way to occupy their time. Meanwhile, Tech and Echo went to work on the ship.
“Sure does feel good to get off the ship, it’s feeling a bit crowded these days.” Echo voiced while stretching his limbs.
Tech nodded, “The habitable area on the ship does seem to be insufficient. But we’ll manage, just like we always do.”
Although Hunter and I were walking away from the ship, I overheard Tech and Echo’s conversation. I couldn’t help but feel guilty. I was using up their already limited resources and was putting them in danger just by being in the same area as them. It didn’t feel right, but the Bad Batch seemed to have their mind made up. It would be rude to leave them now.
Hunter and I stopped at a few small vendors who had set up shop nearby the refueling station. All of them seeming to just be getting by. There was a dismal assortment of goods to choose from, but enough for our needs. We stocked up on rations and purchased some more first aid materials just in case. I did insist upon using my credits, what little remained, to pay for the supplies as I didn’t want to add anymore burden to them because of my added presence.
“Thanks for that.” Hunter said in appreciation when I handed my credits to the vendor.
“It’s no problem, truly.” I insisted, stepping away from the makeshift shop. “It’s the least I can do after inconveniencing you all like this.”
Hunter stopped abruptly. “You’re not inconveniencing us. We want to help you. Why do you not see that?”
The informality of his words was surprising. I was used to clones always addressing me as their General. I had grown close to the clones that I led during the war, but even then, we made sure to maintain a certain level of formality. I supposed things were different now though.
“I- I’m sorry.” I muttered, clearly caught off guard.
Hunter moved to face me. “You don’t need to apologize. Just recognize that we do genuinely want to help. We can only imagine the things that you have been through in recent times.”
I nodded my head, acknowledging his words, and we began our walk back to the Marauder. “The past year has been very challenging…” I admitted. Hunter didn’t respond, a silent offer to continue if I wanted to. I obliged, as a small weight began to lift off my shoulders even after my brief moment of vulnerability. “When Order 66 happened, it sent my life into a whirling chaos.”
I found myself starting to recount my whole story of that fateful day, unable to stop the words from flowing out of my mouth. “My squad and I were on our way back to Coruscant from a covert mission. It was a smaller group, due to the nature of the mission, but still formidable. I sensed a disturbance in the force like none I had ever felt before, and then my Captain was moving into my room, blaster drawn. I tried to ask him what was going on, but all he could manage to say was, ‘Good soldiers follow orders’. The next moments are a blur. I managed to take control over the ship, subduing the clones who were once my loyal soldiers. I picked up a transmission urging all Jedi to return to the temple, but as I approached the planet, the transmission changed. This time it was General Kenobi’s voice commanding all Jedi to stay away, it wasn’t safe anymore.”
I took a moment to breathe deeply, letting the feelings from the day wash over me before I continued. Hunter was intently listening and watching the entire time. “Before I could change coordinates, Coruscant in view, troopers in their ships were firing on me. They must have picked up my ship’s signature and knew that I was on board. As quickly as I could, I jumped into hyperspace and abandoned my ship at the earliest possible chance. It was all so confusing to me, but I’ve been able to piece together what happened since based on things I’ve heard while on the run. I haven’t stayed in one place too long since… ”
Hunter was quiet for a while, processing everything that I said. “I’m so sorry, General.” He said solemnly.
My heart ached at his words. It ached for the comfort and familiarity of the past. It ached for the friends who had lost their lives. It ached for simpler times.
Growing up in the Jedi temple, I had always been taught to control my negative emotions. To not let them overtake me. But that has become harder and harder as of late. With all the tragedy in my life, it is getting harder to wholeheartedly stick to the Jedi code.
I took a deep breath, “Thank you, Hunter, for listening. I didn’t mean to unload all of that on you.”
Hunter gave me a kind smile, “Happy to help.” His face then turned more serious, “I’m not surprised there’s a bounty on you though. With how you escaped, the Empire knows that you’re still alive.”
“Yes…” Was all I could manage to say.
“Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out.” He assured me.
As we approached the Marauder, we could hear yelling coming from inside the ship. Immediately, Hunter and I jumped into action, ready to face whatever was happening on board. However, to our pleasant surprise, the ruckus was simply Omega and Wrecker wrapping up a heated game of holochess.
The two of us let out a sigh of relief. “At least they didn’t get into trouble.” Hunter said with the slightest bit of laughter.
It was a much needed reminder that there are still good things in the galaxy. Innocent things. Things worth fighting for.

I'm really excited to share the new fan fiction that I'm working on! It's about the Bad Batch and an unexpected new member to their team. It will also have a Hunter X Y/N story line to it. Below is the first chapter. Please check it out and consider following along my journey writing it on Wattpad! :)
On The Run
Chapter 1
"I don't like it..." Echo protested.
"Me neither, but do we really have a choice?" Hunter countered.
Tech tapped on his data pad and then looked up, "According to my calculations, this will be the fastest way to pay off our debt to Cid."
"As long as I get to blow something up, I don't care what we do." Wrecker added.
Echo spoke up again, "But we're not bounty hunters."
Omega sidled over to Echo, "I agree, I thought we helped people, not capture them. It doesn't seem right."
Cid was getting tired of their back and forth squabbling. She had just offered them the job of a lifetime. A bounty that would pay enough credits to not only pay off their debt to her, but then have left over to allow them to settle somewhere of their choice. She didn't like the prospect of them leaving, they were her best associates, but she knew they were trouble. They had too much history with the Empire that she knew one day it would cause it to come knocking on her door, that is, if she wasn't the one to call the Empire first.
All she had told the Bad Batch was that it was a high paying bounty, purposefully leaving out any other details with the fear they would refuse if they knew the truth. But she was sick of waiting for them to decide. Cid cleared her throat and then spoke to the group. "I would listen to Goggles if I were you, fellas. The credits will make this job worthwhile, and it's not like you've never gotten your hands dirty before."
Hunter sighed, he knew that what Cid spoke was the truth. Everyone looked to him to decide, as he was their leader. "Alright, we take this one last job, pay off our debts, and then we're never stepping foot on his planet again."
Although some were hesitant, everyone nodded their heads in understanding and proceeded to gather their things and prepare for the mission.
It was quiet aboard the Marauder, aside from the occasional beep from the bounty puck, signaling the direction they needed to head. There was uneasiness in the air with everyone clearly not very keen on the idea of capturing a bounty. Especially a bounty that they had so little information on. But soon enough, as they approached the planet that the puck was guiding them to, they fell into their usual motions of preparing to embark on their mission.
Tech and Echo were up in the cockpit preparing to jump out of hyperspace while Hunter, Wrecker, and Omega strapped into their seats. They were arriving at a remote planet on the edge of the Outer Rim. Whoever this bounty was, they had gone to lengths to ensure their seclusion.
They landed the Marauder in a clearing between some trees. It was a heavily mountainous and forested planet, the terrain challenging to cross. As they stepped out of the ship, they could hear the frequency of the beeping coming from the puck increasing. Their bounty was definitely close by.
"Well are we going or what?" Wrecker said impatiently as the group gathered outside the ship.
"Wait" Hunter commanded and held up his arm. There were no visible signs of any human life forms, but he could sense something. With Hunter's enhanced senses, he was able to pick up on things that the others could not. He closed his eyes, and focused on the environment around him, taking in the sounds, the smells. Tech, Wrecker, Echo, and Omega waited silently. Hunter opened his eyes and quietly said, "We're being watched."
At his words, the group immediately readied themselves into defensive positions. Hunter signaled to them with his hands where the onlooker was. Before they could do anything else, there was rustling in the trees and the beeping from the puck grew faster and louder. The bounty was on the move.
"Go!" Hunter yelled, urging his unit to pursue the bounty. And the chase had begun.
Soon enough, they spotted the bounty. A hooded figure moving faster and smoother than the average person. Hunter threw his knife towards the bounty, hoping to catch them off guard and knock them off their feet, but to Hunter's surprise, just as the knife was approaching the bounty, it seemed to veer oddly off to the side, missing the target. He swore and thought to himself, if only Crosshair were here.
Crosshair was the final member of Clone Force 99, but had stayed loyal to the Empire after Order 66, rather than defect from it like they did. Crosshair's betrayal was hard on everyone, but they had learned to get used to his absence. However, it was on mission's like this, where Crosshair's enhanced aim could be extremely useful, when they felt his absence more than normal.
Quickly, the bounty was approaching a tall and expansive cliffside. There would be nowhere for them to escape to. But to the group's surprise, the cloaked bounty started to scale the side of the cliff with ease. They all looked at each other, acknowledging the unexpected feat, and then pulled out their grappling guns.
The cabled hooks flew by the bounty as they attached to the top of the cliff, but the mysterious figure was unphased. Fearing that they would lose their target, Hunter ordered through the com channel, "Plan 56".
Wrecker mumbled a response, clearly upset with the idea of executing this plan, but the force took action. Switching from their vertical climb, Wrecker and Hunter began swinging their cables from side to side. They grabbed onto Echo and Tech and continued to gather momentum. Soon enough, they were swinging so forcefully that they would approach the top of the cliffside at each end of the swing. And with that, Hunter and Wrecker threw Echo and Tech towards the top of the cliff.
Echo and Tech urged towards the cliff top and rolled as they landed on the solid ground. They immediately recovered from their jump and got into position, just along the edge of the cliff, stun guns facing the edge.
The bounty emerged from the cliffside and was met with their blasters staring them in the face. The hooded figure paused to take in the predicament they were in. Just as Tech and Echo thought they had the bounty, the figure made the motions as if they were going to jump off the steep cliffside they had just scaled. But before they could, Hunter, Wrecker, and Omega made their way onto the ledge. Before the bounty could make an escape, Hunter shot them with the stun gun and they collapsed to the ground.
"Well that was more challenging than originally anticipated", Tech shared while catching his breath.
"Yeah, I've never seen anyone move like that!" Wrecker agreed.
After sensing and pursuing the bounty, Hunter knew the truth, but wished it wasn't so. "Only a Jedi could move like that..."
An eerie silence fell over the group. Finally, Omega spoke up, "But I thought the Jedi were all killed during Order 66?"
"Seeing as Jedi are extraordinary beings, it is highly likely that at least a small number of them survived the purge." Tech shared.
Echo sighed, "I knew this was a bad idea." And approached the unconscious being. He removed their hood and shock took over his face.
"What's wrong?" Hunter asked.
Echo took a deep breath, calming himself. "That's General Y/N. We fought together occasionally during the war."
The weight of what they had done started to hit everyone. Not only did they accept a job from Cid to capture a Jedi, but it was also someone that was known to one of them.
"We can't turn in this bounty." Echo declared.
"But what about Cid?" Wrecker asked.
"We'll figure it out." Hunter said. "I agreed to catch a bounty, not turn a Jedi over to their death." They were all in quiet agreement. Although it was extremely risky to go against Cid, they had to do what was right. "Let's move out."

I’m convinced that Tech is still alive. You’re telling me that all they found were his goggles? No, Hemlock definitely captured him and showed Hunter the goggles to convince him he was dead. Maybe I’m just in denial, but I really think he’s coming back next season. Anyone else feel this way?

Love After Loss
Chapter 7 - The Meal
I was really getting used to having Din around. My quiet home wasn't so quiet anymore and it was so nice. This was both exciting, but also worrying. The end of our agreed upon month together was approaching faster than I would like it to. If I was successful with changing his mind, then maybe Din would want to stay here and give up the Way of the Mandalore.
It was a thought I tried not to think about too often with the risk of being crushed. I did not want to get too attached to Din's companionship just to have it taken away from me if he decided to bathe in the Living Waters and return to the covert after all. Losing my partner and my people so abruptly in the past was excruciating. I know that losing the company with Din won't be as hard, but it won't be pleasant.
These were the thoughts running through my mind as I worked in the garden. The sun was shining and a light breeze was blowing the sweet air by me. It was so peaceful and serene. While I was working on harvesting some vegetables and weeding the plants, Din was cleaning out the pen and feeding the animals. I don't know how I managed all of this on my own before. Another reason why I'll be sad if he chooses not to stay.
I was wrapping up my work in the garden, my hands and knees in the soil, when Din approached. I had assumed he came over to speak with me, but he walked right by. Instead, he stood near the edge of the garden, looking out into the forest beyond. "Everything okay?" I asked, wondering what he could possibly be looking for.
He scanned the forest a bit more before finally peeling his eyes away to face me. "Yeah, I just thought I saw someone over there."
At his words, I snapped my head over to the forest line to scan it for myself. It wasn't unheard of for someone to be over there. Every once in a while a villager would make their way over while on a walk or gathering supplies of some kind, but they usually stopped by to say hello. There didn't appear to be anyone there, but I still felt uneasy about it. "You sure everything is okay?"
Din turned to me. "Yes, I was probably just imagining it." He said with a comforting smile. The nerves I had in my stomach diminished a bit with his response, but still lingered. Din could tell. "Hey, it's fine. I didn't mean to worry you. Let's finish up out here and go inside. I'm starving!"
And with that, I grabbed my basket of veggies, brushed off the dirt on my hands and knees, and made my way inside. My uneasiness shrinking the closer I got to the door.
Din and I worked closely together to prepare our meal. We made easy conversation and even joked around while cooking. The differences between when Din first arrived here and how he was acting now were astronomical. I think the country living life suited him.
We sat and the table and began to eat our meal. My thoughts couldn't help but return to the idea of him settling down here with me. I wanted to know what he was thinking, how he was feeling, if he was leaning one way or the other. But, I really didn't want to push him. Ultimately, my goal of the deal wasn't to develop a relationship with him, but simply to expose him to the life that I had learned to love. It wouldn't be right if I tried to convince him one way or the other, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and see where his head was at.
"So, how are you enjoying your time here?" I tried to ask as casually as possible.
A thoughtful look seemed to briefly pass over Din's face, but quickly disappeared as he responded just as casually, "It's different than I expected, but... it's nice." My heart jumped a bit at his admission. There was yet hope. "Why do you ask?"
I tried to calm my excitement and hide any emotion I had before responding. "No particular reason, just wanted to check in." Din gave me another thoughtful look, this time lingering on me. The two of us were quiet, the only sounds between us being the scraping of utensils and food as we finished our meal.
"I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do, you know." Din said, breaking our silence.
I shook my head. "Of course not. And I didn't expect you to." For some reason my throat began to tighten. I had no reason to cry or even get emotional, but I couldn't stop myself.
Din grabbed my hand gently. "It's a decision that I'm not taking lightly. And you're definitely making it a tougher decision than I thought it would be." He added with a soft smile.
My cheeks warmed. I opened my mouth to speak, but couldn't find any words to fill it with. Instead, I resolved to embrace the moment, ignoring all logic and focusing simply on my feelings. With my hand still in Din's, I leaned in and placed my lips on his, closing my eyes.
Din seemed surprised at the unexpected kiss, but quickly brushed off any shock and fully embraced it. He kissed me right back, reciprocating my energy and adding his own enthusiasm. After a few seconds, we pulled away and simply peered into each other's eyes. A few awkward moments passed, and then the two of us were laughing together.
Whether the laughter was from nerves or enjoyment, it didn't matter. We were so comfortable with each other and the interaction just felt so natural and easy. "You really are making this challenging for me, Y/N." Din joked and we laughed some more.
"I'm really not trying to, I swear." But Din didn't seem convinced. It didn't matter though because we clearly were feeling things for each other whether we wanted to admit it or not. And despite our feelings and the kiss we just shared, I still wanted him to do what would be best for him in the long run. Whether that be staying with me, or returning to his old life, I would support him.
After gathering ourselves and returning to reality, we cleaned up meal and washed our dishes. We spent the rest of the day doing whatever we wanted, but made sure that we were close to each other, always being within arm's reach.

Love After Loss
Chapter 1 - The Apostate
I was sitting in my usual spot in the local cantina when a hush fell over everyone. Turning toward the entrance, I laid eyes on a Mandalorian standing in the open archway. This was an unusual sight for such a quiet and unassuming town on a small forest planet on the outskirts of the galaxy. It's location and character were the main reasons as to why I chose to settle here.
My past was something that I wanted to escape. I couldn't handle the burden and hurt that it caused me, so moving to an unknown place where I could start anew was a must. When I stumbled upon this town, I knew it was the perfect place. People like Mandalorians didn't typically show up here which was why everyone's attention was on the one assessing the tavern.
The Mandalorian was dressed in what looked like freshly forged beskar armor, the signature helmet covering his face. He paused in the doorway looking around the large room before making his way to the bar. I stayed focused on him, curious about what his business was here. He walked up to the bar, placing an arm on the counter, leaning in to ask the bartender a question. "I'm looking for someone. Maybe you can help me?" The bartender seemed a bit hesitant, but nodded his head.
The Mandalorian proceeded, "I'm looking for someone that once dressed in armor like mine. I heard that an ex-Mandalorian was living in the area".
The bartender and I made quick eye contact with each other, his face filled with uncertainty. Before he had a chance to respond, I approached the counter. "I can take you to who you seek" I said flatly.
The Mandalorian turned towards me. Although I couldn't see his face, I could tell that he was taking me in and assessing any risk that I might pose. He nodded, "Very well. Thank you". I gave the bartender an assuring nod and walked out of the cantina, followed by the Mandalorian.
We set off on our walk towards the settlement. The Mandalorian followed me, keeping a safe distance. I could tell that he was not someone who was quick to trust. When we had left the town and were making our way down the forest path, I spoke over my shoulder, "May I ask why you're after the ex-Mandalorian?" My question was met with silence. "This is a quiet community, I just want to make sure you're not bringing any trouble. That's all."
A moment of silent passed before the Mandalorian responded. "I will not be creating any trouble, you have my word."
Although I too was someone who was not quick to trust, I was able to breath a little easier. "Well good."
I was certain that the rest of the twenty minute walk would be filled with silence, but the Mandalorian spoke up. "So how do you know this ex-Mandalorian?"
I turned and saw that he was walking closer now. I gave him a curious smile. "You could say that we're friends." His only response was a quiet nod.
The remainder of the walk was filled with warm breezes and the sounds of the creatures in the forest. Eventually, we arrived at the settlement. It was made up of a simple clay house, a fenced in area that held a few animals, and a small garden. "This is it," I said while gesturing to the settlement, "Shall we go in?" I was met with another quiet nod, but I couldn't help but notice that his hand moved closer to his blaster. Whether it was out of caution, instinct, or some darker reason, I wasn't sure.
We walked into the small home and were met with silence. The owner appeared not to be home. While the Mandalorian looked around, I quickly turned the corner and grabbed the blaster that I knew would be there. I pointed it at the Mandalorian and asked forcefully, "Why are you looking for her?"
The Mandalorian spun around, clearly caught off guard. He raised his hands in the air, "I do not wish to cause her harm. I simply need to speak with her."
"Why?" I pressed, trying to gain more information.
He sighed heavily, clearly frustrated with the situation. "I need her help with something." I paused, waiting for anything else he might say. "Please".
I took a moment, assessing the possible outcome and the sincerity of his words. "Fine." I stated and lowered the blaster. A wave of relief washed over the room. "Take a seat at the table, I'll get you something to drink."
"When will she be back?" The Mandalorian asked as I prepared the refreshments.
"You misunderstand". I turned to face him and said calmly, "I am the apostate that you seek."

joel when he knows ellie is safe: *actively dying / has not moved or spoken in days*
joel when he knows ellie is in danger: *wakes himself out of a feverish dream state, stands up for the first time since getting stabbed, strangles a man with his bare hands in a sudden burst of strength, ambushes another, duct tapes a guy to a chair and tortures him, murders them for being involved in taking ellie, walks miles in the cold to find her, all while carrying her backpack bc he knows her belongings are important to her, “its ok babygirl”*
