          since when did five get shot ? how far behind on everything is diego really ? he sits down across from five at the kitchen table , eyeing the wound before looking up at five . he looks so tired . when was the last time his d e a r brother had gotten some sleep ? the knife-wielder takes a deep breath , then nods at the bandage ,   ❛     who did it ? i’ll kill them .     ❜

          so the old man is dead && gone . diego can’t put how he feels into words , but he’s not exactly sobbing over the death of reginald hargreeves . especially because he was a monster && nothing less . he roams the old house with no exact purpose , looking over artifacts of his m e m o r i e s && thinking of time gone by . it’s not long before he stumbles across her , stopping in his tracks . he exhales a soft laugh , though it holds no trace of humor ,   ❛     no , haven’t seen ’im . but now i’m seeing you . you look different .     ❜   he comments , searching her face for other changes . 

          he leans against the doorway && crosses his arms ,   ❛     i’m surprised you’re here . thought you wouldn’t bother .     ❜   i almost didn’t . he stands there in the s i l e n c e between them ,  still . he wonders what she’ll say , wonders why she came after all . how much does she care ? is it an inconvenience ? nonetheless , he waits to hear , eyes locked on her .

FUNERALS  ALWAYS  LEFT  A  BITTER  TASTE ,   those  close  to  the  decedent  trapped  in  a  roller  coaster  ride  of  emotions .  when  amelia  was  informed  about  mister  hagreeves  death  she  felt  incredibly  sorry ,  a  deep  respect  living  in  her  chest   for  the  man  who  opened  up  so  many  possibilities  to  her .  without  his  help  she  would  have  become  a  monster ,  a  modern  tragedy  written  down  in  local  newspapers  and  finally  melted  away  like  the  ice  that  was  a  part  of  her  system . having  the  chance  to  learn  among  wonderful  people ,  to  grow  up  between  a  loving  family  and  those  who  were  able  to  understand  her  struggles  was  unique ,  a  gift  she  would  always  cherish  and  never  forget .  and  now  ?  WHAT  WAS  LEFT  of  dreams ,  what  was  left  of  brilliant  stars  shining  all  so  bright  ?  broken  adults  treating  each  other  like  strangers ,  lives  lost  and  never  enjoyed  to  the  full .  was  that  THE  PRICE  of  being  different  ? fawn  eyes  looking  around ,  big  house  seeming  to  become  smaller  with  every  minute  spent  in  it .  it  was  cold  and  empty  these  days ,  silence  filling  up  the  halls  like  a  curse  no  one  was  able  to  break .  was  it  grief  or  bitterness ,  memories  of  stolen  days ,  of  what  could  have  been  ?  had  she  even  the  right  to  speak  ?  breath  held  for  a  moment  when  a  familiar  face  appeared ,  corner  of  painted  lips  forming  a  sad  smile .   ❛     ——  diego .  ❜  ,  she  greeted  the  other  while  fingers  started  to  tingle .  she  did  not  expect  anyone  to  come  and  still  the  call  seemed  to  reach  through ,  to  assemble  what  was  broken  once .   ❛    i  am  so  sorry  for  your  loss .  it  is  good  to  see  you .  have  you  already  talked  to  pogo  ?   ❜
