I loved Circe so so much. Easily my favorite in a long while. I’ve read Greek Mythology since I was a kid (though it is totally accessible to those who haven’t), and I found this retelling magical and captivating, made all the more so by Miller’s velvety writing and descriptive powers - she’s a bit of a sorceress herself. I especially loved Circe’s character arc, I was breathless and cheering for her the entire time. I love words and language and keep a collection of unique and noteworthy ones for my own little #glossarium, which I'll share occasionally if you're interested! . Besides being satisfying to say, solivagant caught my eye for its meaning. One of the best trips I ever took was to Italy for 3 weeks *by myself* when I turned 30. It was freeing and empowering unlike anything else I've done - able to experience a foreign (and stunning) country at my own pace based entirely on what I alone was interested in. . Pure #wanderlust. . It doesn't have to be far, but if you ever have a chance to travel anywhere by yourself I can't recommend it enough! #wanderingnotlost #realstrongsmart #writinginspiration . I finished House of Leaves a little while ago and I'm still processing how I feel about this book. It is truly amazing though, so I had to give it 5 stars. Just finishing it was a _serious_ accomplishment and I had to actively read and listen various interpretations just to wrap my head around it. I mean, it took Danielewski ten years to write it.

It starts out about a man discovers that his house is a half-inch larger on the inside than it is on the outside, and eventually a pitch dark labyrinth opens up from within their house and chaos and horror ensues. It’s actually a story within a story and it’s a little mind boggling with all the various voices and the bazillion footnotes that are mostly meant to be a satire. One of the coolest parts though is how the book mirrors the text. For example during chapter 9, The Labyrinth, pic 2 is what it looked like. And yes I had to get a mirror out to read it. Yes, there were times I almost threw it out the window. . But I’m ultimately glad I finished it. For anyone that has read this, I totally recommend the NightMind videos on YouTube. Kind of get past the beginning and get to the echoes. Guys. I have a NY literary agent, a NY acquiring editor, AND a film producer interested in my story! 🤯👊🤞 . I just spent two days at #TheCrucible - a #CalliopeWritingCoach conference that helped me elevate, practice, and ultimately pitch my novel to some top people in the industry as part of its coaching program. Seriously the opportunity of a lifetime. I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned and run and get better and better. . It was an intense two days and I survived by being surrounded by the most amazing and wonderful writers and coaches - my Calliope tribe. Every single person there inspired, encouraged, and impressed me and every single person there got manuscript requests! . I especially want to shout out the lovely and badass women of my working group - I’m so glad we had each other and I adore each of your talented faces @leeschwartzy, @storieswithsammie, @leonapearlwrites, @jesskarma , @zz.writes. . And @angiefenimore (@calliopewritingcoach) - you are magical and extraordinary and I feel so lucky to have you for a mentor. 🙏🏻 . Just finished Good Omens. Enjoyable and I liked it, but didn’t love it as much as I thought I would (stupid expectations #dontdothat). It was still lot of apocalyptic fun and I loved the ending.
