I'm at my breaking point. On the verge of a mental breakdown. I can feel it. I've never been in a shittier place in my life. I have NOBODY to talk to. I have no close friends, can't talk to my bf, can't talk to my family. I need financial help, i need legal help, I need mental help, I need relationship help. I am alone and unwanted and broken. I've been violently pulled by feelings of determination and hope one second to utter despair the next all week. Today is the worst. I know the world and the internet is big and nobody really cares, but if just one person has the energy to point me in the direction of someone who can help, it would help more than you can ever know.

I was born a Mormon. I didn’t know women were less than men in Mormon doctrine until I saw the NewNameNoah YouTube videos when I was 21.
Men are priests to God who get to rule and reign forever. Women are just priestesses to their husbands:
“Brethren, you have been washed and pronounced clean, or that through your faithfulness you may become clean, from the blood and sins of this generation. You have been anointed to become hereafter kings and priests unto the most high God, to rule and reign in the house of Israel forever.
Sisters, you have been washed and anointed to become hereafter queens and priestesses to your husbands.”  -Mormon Temple Endowment
This link jumps to the point in the video where I got the screenshot: https://youtu.be/5VrsFEiTpsQ?t=96 Blog Post: http://www.unpackingmormonism.com/2017/12/temple-screenshots-post-5-priestesses.html

Jesus and the Sabbath
Going to mormon hell for this (as if I wasn’t already lmao).
But we were talking about the Sabbath, and one person raised her hand to speak. She spoke of how when she was a little kid, she and a friend wore bathing suits and jumped around on the trampoline with the hose and just having a grand old time. Her dad came, and asked “Hey, is this keeping the Sabbath day holy?”
Since they’re little kids, they said of course it was.
He then told them that this wasn’t keeping the Sabbath day holy, stating “would Jesus want to do this with you on his holy day?”
Told? I meant guiltripped. He guiltripped little kids into thinking they’re not allowed to have any fun on Sunday, and she of course listened to her dad and ended up just watching tv the whole day.
She was bursting out crying, saying that it was a powerful lesson because now with everything she wonders if Jesus would want to do this with her. Would Jesus want to do homework with me? No he wouldn’t. And mentioned not just Sundays, but thinking about this all the time.
Of course, me loving Mormon hell at this point, I’m going down there for instantly thinking about things like making out and above being like ah yes would Jesus want to do that with me- oh dear. And while she’s bursting out sobbing with the spirit I’m sitting there trying not to burst out laughing.
I mean in all seriousness, it’s absolutely ridiculous. Even if this is true, Jesus loves kids. I’m sure he’d rather spend time with them on the trampoline having fun versus watching tv all day??
And why would he care if you did homework on Sunday? If you absolutely need to do it, wouldn’t he much rather do that with you instead of you purposely ignoring your homework and increasing your anxiety? Wouldn’t he rather you be happy and anxiety free with it all done?
And besides, I’d rather not think that Jesus is stalking me watching my every move. I don’t need what Mormons love to preach in my head, which is that there is absolutely zero privacy with Heavenly Father or Jesus and they watch your every thought closely. That’s just really freaky.
I mean sure, if there’s a god above, they’d probably look over your general actions. And they’d probably like it a lot of you didn’t do something like murdering someone innocent on Sunday. But any day isn’t a good day for murdering innocent people.
In my mind Sunday should be a day of rest in its own way. Whether people go to church or not, Sunday is a time to relax before work and school picks up again. For some people it’s playing videogames, or watching movies, or church, baking, napping, anything. Even jumping on a trampoline in your bathing suit and the hose. I don’t think god cares exactly what you do, as long as you are spending your time on making yourself happy. And people shouldn’t feel guilty or pressured to use Sunday as a day to further their indoctrination and submission.
Sunday should be me going to my nice LGBT church and then relaxing or doing some homework, just whatever sounds nice and is needed before school or work happens again. Sunday shouldn’t be sitting in an unwelcome horrifying place where I feel threatened at every corner, and then having to take a five hour nap to feel better about the trauma inside there.
I am so excited for when I can resign and take my Sunday again, a seventh of my life back. And my heart goes to those who are suffering through Sunday as well.

most practice rooms at a college are mostly sound proof. You can schedule practice time - although you might have to pretend you're a music major to get them to allow it.
Universities should have a soundproof scream room where you can scream your stress away because this is fucking bullshit.

You don't always have to get a lawyer involved, right? 6 years ago I sent my resignation letter (using the template) to my stake president, including a request to not tell my family or anyone who wouldn't need to know. A week later I got an official confirmation letter that I was no longer a member, name taken off records and everything. My parents still don't know I did it.
Can an ex Mormon ask for their records to be removed from the church? Or can they basically ask to be excommunicated? Asking for a friend
Hello Anon,
I have good news for your friend, it can be done easily, there’s even an attorney who is willing to help, free of charge. And as he’s licensed in Utah where the Mormon Church is headquartered, he can do this on behalf of anyone in the world.
It will take two forms:*  Your friend fills in the information on this resignation letter and signs it.*  If your friend is an adult, they complete and sign this form that says the attorney represents them in the matter of resigning from the LDS Church.*  If your friend is a minor (under the age of 18), they need to complete and sign this form, and so do their parents or guardians (because they’re taking a legal action).**  It must be signed by both parents or guardians, unless the one parent has authority to act alone. Proof of this should also be scanned and included with the letter and authorization form. This documentation could be a Death Certificate of the other parent, a custody order giving them sole power over religious decisions, etc.
The attorney’s contact information is at the top of the forms. He prefers if the letter and authorization form are scanned and emailed to him as a PDF file, but will work with faxes or paper mail as well. If you respond via mail or fax, please include the method of contact where you would like to receive the confirmation that your name has been removed.
The attorney will take care of getting the information turned in to the LDS Church and will contact you once he has been notified that the process is complete.
I could put here the process as explained in the Church’s Handbook 1, but the working with this lawyer is easier, avoids the possibility of visits from local Church leaders and also of any notes being added to their Church record of possible sins that will have to be examined should your friend ever decide to rejoin the Mormon church.
Just for your friend’s information, this will not remove their name or records from the Church, what it will do is have those records changed to show this person is no longer a member. The Church keeps the records just in case the person decide to join again, or shows up to a local congregation and claims to be a member.
This is a resignation, not an excommunication. A resignation is the person choosing to no longer be a member, an excommunication is when the church decides the person is no longer a member.
Your friend will officially be an ex Mormon once their resignation is complete. Right now the Church would consider them an inactive member (sometimes called a less-active member).
I wish them well.

So the other night during D&D, I had the sudden thoughts that:
1) Binary files are 1s and 0s
2) Knitting has knit stitches and purl stitches
You could represent binary data in knitting, as a pattern of knits and purls…
You can knit Doom.
However, after crunching some more numbers:
The compressed Doom installer binary is 2.93 MB. Assuming you are using sock weight yarn, with 7 stitches per inch, results in knitted doom being…
3322 square feet
Factoring it out…302 people, each knitting a relatively reasonable 11 square feet, could knit Doom.

As tempting as it is to want to think in black and white terms like this, it's not quite true.
Yes, it is child abuse. But in a lot of cases it is done by ignorant parents who are brainwashed themselves. The evil ones are those who know they are wrong but decide to abuse their power. Joseph Smith was a monster. I'm sure some current church leaders are monsters. But my parents, who raised me with abusive thinking, do not deserve a fate worse than death. They were brainwashed into thinking they were doing what was good and right. They were wrong, but they're not monsters.
Raising children in a cult is child abuse.
Period. End of sentence. Case closed.
Any parent who forces religious indoctrination upon their child to the point of denying them free thought and self expression does not deserve custody of that child.
Any parent who permits, condones, or enables the predatory practices of their religious leaders to abuse and hurt their children deserves worse than death.
Any parent who forces their child into polygamous or underage marriages deserves worse than death.
Any parent who isolates or locks up their child to keep them from learning about the outside world, or enforces ignorance on them as a means of control deserves worse than death.
Any parent who abandons or disowns their child, who or turns a child out of their home, for not adhering to their religious dictates deserves worse than death.
Any parent who holds their love for their children as conditional on their obidence or allaigence to their faith is an abominable monster.
Any parent who loves their religion or religious leaders more than their own child is an unforgivable monster.

My boyfriend's boss was involved with Neo-Nazis
I literally feel like I'm in a movie. The shit that went down last week was unreal. I can't reveal too much because I want to stay anonymous, but here's the gist:
My boyfriend found this great job, working with great people. They just had their Christmas party. The owner works closely with all the staff, and I've always thought they were very nice.
Then one day out of the blue, the local antifa group posts an article exposing my boyfriend's boss and partner as being actively involved with an alt-right group that frequently protests and spreads racist propaganda.
At first my bf and i didn't believe it, how could this sweet person be involved in something like that?? After all, three of the employees are people of color so it didn't make sense. But no, we saw the proof and there is no denying it.
The day that article came out, multiple clients that were working with my bf's company called and cancelled their accounts, cutting off all business ties. The boss released a statement resigning from The company. The boss came into work to try and explain themselves but everyone was really hostile and threatened you call police. My bf was the only one willing to listen and talked to the boss trying to understand how they could be like this. They said they were libertarian, but they weren't Nazis and weren't racist. They claimed to just be proud of their ancestry and were trying to find a community to support that. However, their partner was very involved with the alt - right group and helped stage protests, frequently tweeted racist statements and used racial slurs. The boss helped make stickers and swastika shaped cookies for events.
As glad as I am to have them exposed and not running a company anymore, I'm scared - but not surprised - that the antifa group and people in the community were so quick to discredit them and shut them down. Most people never asked for proof or was willing to allow them to explain themselves. NOBODY gave a shit about the employees of that company, who are now out of a job. I don't know if we're going to be able to do Christmas this year, our budget was already tight. The antifa group could have confronted the boss, allowing them to resign before posting that article, which would have allowed the company to keep a lot of really important clients and pass the ownership to someone else, so that nobody lost their job. They could have released the information after Christmas, or notified the employees before publishing to the world. My point is they were out for blood and didn't care who got hurt in the cross fire.
Moral of the story: Think big picture. Don't subscribe to mob mentality and black and white thinking. Give People permission to explain themselves. People with bad ideas need to be held accountable for harmful actions, but everyone needs to realize that consequences aren't ever isolated to the target. The way you deliver justice needs to be mindful of the innocent bystanders.
I'll say it again: My boyfriend lost his job. We may not have money for Christmas for our family. This collateral damage could easily have been prevented.
The other moral to the story is to be careful with who you associate with. Nobody should be paranoid but you really never know what dark secrets people have.

A 22-month-old female scaredy cat tiger appeared to get the shock of her young life when she encountered a dead leaf floating on a pool of water in the Bandhavgarh National Park, India. Clearly unusure about just what was approaching her, the partially submerged youngster’s tail shot up in the air and with teeth bared she let out her most fearsome growl - all in an effort to scare the humble leaf away.
