"When have I ever asked you to do anything?" His brow creases; eyeing off the treatment Void Gear is receiving, he's barely able to keep the lecture off his tongue. That's no way to treat something that comes from your heart.

"Sora!" Well there's a face he's always happy to see; though there's a very important question that must be asked- "Did you shrink in the wash, buddy?" Looking a little smaller than usual, mister Second Chance.

When you approach the Heart of a World, it hums.

It hums right beneath your skin, as your own pulse beats in tandem. Everything, beats in tandem. It’s a first breath on waking and a last breath when you fall asleep. It is, when you’re that close to it, everything. Everything around you bends to the unending chorus, to the pulse of life itself.

When you touch the Heart of the World, that pulse rattles your bones. You see it in the same way it sees you; a swirling mass of light that’s continuously pushed along by ripples of darkness. Always in motion, never stagnant. It breathes and changes, it grows and recedes. 

When a Keybearer touches the Heart of a World, it sighs. Everything breathes out in unison, relieved without ever knowing why. That’s all it takes, in the end. One person, one blade. There are times he’s stood in the aftermath, almost certain he can feel the Heartless falling to dust, drifting back into the Lanes Between.

So many worlds have their gods. Ventus wonders what they’d make of this.

And then he laughs as he texts the group chat; 258. One number and Roxas erupts into paragraphs about how at least five of those don’t count, and Kairi helped him with fifty more. Sora tells him to be nice. Riku advises them both not to quit their day jobs.

That– moment. That transcendence. That something close to more than any one person could, should be, it passes.
