Create space in your life for beauty. Keep only clothing that you feel absolutely beautiful in. Get rid of anything that you have doubts about. Give it away to charity or to a girlfriend. Organize that underwear drawer. Throw out those shoes that don’t fit, that costume jewelry you never wear. I did this exercise with Auntie Beth last year. We dumped twenty bags of has-beens from my wardrobe.
The stuff was OK—it just wasn’t sexy or beautiful enough. I was left with about five items in my closet. Once I made this move, the most wonderful thing happened—some designers started giving me clothes, a dear girlfriend bought me a fantastic coat and boots. Before my very eyes, my closet started to fill with lovely little numbers without any effort or money on my part. Now my wardrobe is worthy of me for the first time in my life, and getting better. The same thing can happen to you. All you have to do is trust that the power of desire in action, - Mama Gena

Most comments on my posts say “maybe that’s true for some people but in my experience, [diet shit] [fatphobia] [pseudoscience] [claims by disgraced & debunked researcher Brian wansink] [calvinism]”

and we’re all counting so heavily on the fictional mind-body split to firewall our emotional state from our physical/biological state. like can’t we mortify the flesh AND have virtuous (positive) emotions about it lol?? no, actually

You will get farther in one week paying close, nonjudgmental attention to the unmet needs underlying your "bad" behavior than you will in a year of punishing yourself and demanding you become a different person. I'm right shut up.

^^ great addition above.
I also want to re-emphasize the below because it is really all that needs to be said:
the common conception of a balanced eater as a minimal or restrained eater is absolutely wrong.
we really can’t overstate how damaging it has been to indoctrinate the public with the idea that if they let themselves eat as much as they want, they’ll eat too much. human bodies, when permitted over the long term to eat as much as they want, actually get really, really good at calibrating their hunger and satiety, and will over time eat exactly the right amount for themselves. the common conception of a balanced eater as a minimal or restrained eater is absolutely wrong. balanced eaters eat quite a lot (compared to diet cultural ideas about right intake amounts), and they do so consistently and permanently. healthy, balanced eating isn’t some tightrope walk, it’s a gigantic net of total permission to eat.
