Hello my sweet but mischievous little mutual who is also super cool (✪ ω ✪)

I love those little guys

They belong to the order Anseriformes(aquatic environment creatures), and the family Anatidae(geese, swans, ducks). The scientific name is Lophodytes cucullatus.

They are notably ID'd by their crest or "hood" which can be raised and lowered. They do exhibit sexual dimorphism, but both male and female have a crest

Hooded Mergansers exhibit brood parasitism, but only within their own species.

They find their prey with eyesight by changing the refractive properties of their eyes to improve their underwater vision, and they have an extra transparent eyelid (nictitating membrane) that protects their eyes like goggles.

They get a fast start on life- within 24 hours of hatching, ducklings leave the nest. After checking the area, the mother calls them down, and they flutter to the ground, sometimes from 50 ft or greater. They then trek with the mother to water.

They're the only purely North American merganser, and the only duck that specializes in fish.

I have a good bit of info on a fair amount of birds (thank you SciOly), but the best notes are on birds of prey, water birds, and the more unique birds, so I can talk about more of them if someone has a curiosity. All my information and images that I used in putting together notes and slides came from All About Birds and Audubon. Potentially some info came from a field guide, but most from those two sites. Interesting ask! I'm going to try to stick with stories where I would feel safe to be in viewing distance of everything, or a major participant. And among many- I assume you mean that I would have to play nice with other transmigrators.

In terms of stories I'd feel perfectly safe in maybe Howl's Moving Castle? I just wanna see Howl from a distance then go see if I could learn magic. Ouran High School Host Club would also be pretty safe and it would be fun to be there. I could get behind a decent number of Barbie movies, but mainly Princess and the Pauper, Barbie: Magic of Pegasus (listen I would be ok with being a pegasus. The horsegirl in me is strong), and Mermaid Tale.

In terms of stories I would feel unsafe in, I recently read the comic of "Trapped at Home with the Male Leads." it is a zombie apocalypse rofan (which you don't see every day) and lots of people die, including people I thought would live. Even with other transmigrators, I'm not sure we would have the capital and knowhow to survive. I don't want to be there. I also would not want to be in ORV. Sure I know the source material but I don't know how well I could survive certain scenarios. I would probably die in the "kill a living thing" task if I couldn't find a spider fast enough (maybe if I could get into my backyard?). I know that late ORV establishes that if a bunch of people knew ahead of time, mass tragedy could be avoided, but ORV first establishes that in a book club of readers, a lot of them can still die. That's like, so early in the story.

If you could have any character judge your whole life who would you choose?

If you could only listen to one song forever, no exceptions, what song would you least likely be forced to listen to?

What bug would you eat a hundred of if you had to eat a hundred of one type of bug (Have you read that one worm book? I read that one worm book as a child...)

Having any character judge my life would be kinda intense, especially as I oscillate a lot on whether I am proud of who I have become or whether I have started slipping over time into someone just ok. I try to be proud and to make good decisions, but I would need someone judging me to be a kind or cinnamon roll type character. Maybe Natsu Dragneel? I feel like he'd be kind even if he didn't have the attention span for all of it at once. Wendy Marvell is also a great option. She's smart, kind, and practical and I wouldn't mind her learning everything because she has tact. Really I feel like anyone on Fairytail's strongest team would be fine

Hmmm trying to sort out if someone is making me or if I am making me. If I am making me, I might choose Bubbles (Haruno). If someone else is making me and being evil about it, any hyper repetitive song would do the trick. "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Baby Shark" in particular would drive me up the wall with enough iterations. So if I am making me, then "The Wheels on the Bus" or "Baby Shark" are the least likely songs.

I've heard grasshoppers aren't too bad ( I did not read the worm book I think)

If you could only eat one meal forever what would it be and why? Keep in mind that the meal can be cooked in different ways it just has to be the same base food…

It seems like you mean like the same core ingredients and I feel it's taking some liberties, but probably a holiday meal, probably thanksgiving so the meat could be turkey. I do eat everything on the family table, and there's enough ingredients that I think it could work out pretty well. Plus green bean casserole as long as I can still love it. If it was one core ingredient for the meal, one of those big noodle pastas. If it was same food group though, it would be soup.

OOOOoooo that's rough. I am a gacha player and live update games are helpful for longevity of playing it, but I do have a strong imagination and very little can beat the versatility of Minecraft.

It's a fandom shirt that doesn't clue people in immediately so I could wear it out, but I mainly plan to wear it around the house. I would test it on my family. I do love it, I just don't buy clothes a lot and it won't serve me a super ton in practical life. I do wear graphics tees all the time though so there's no real style issue

I don't feel like I've ever explained that my avatar is actually the origami snake queen for the snake army I folded like 5 years ago. There were 50+ origami snakes of varying size and color and I gave them ALL eyes. Googly eyes, sequins and those little plastic gems. The snake queen and king had golden pipe cleaner crowns. I still have them all actually

Ok so for 9 specifically, my answer was the language thing because while it would be really funny and perfect revenge to just eat someone's phone case if I got a little too mad at them, I am a baker and I would like to continue tasting things. Also, I wanted the super power of understanding animals when I was a child so as long as I had my emotional support translator (I *would* give them a little vest) I'd be living the dream. Plus, I could watch and read stuff in the original language more. My answers to the rest are: 1. The stalker. I'd try to build some kind of long distance rapport but like I have siblings, I get cranky if I'm stuck with one person too long and don't get alone time. The sock and I would try to get along but there would be fights.

2. Same actually, I love the idea of ears I could wiggle around and airplane with. Maybe horse ears if you have cat ears on dibs 3. My favorite answer that I've heard and agreed with is specialty chef. Like those sushi chefs that put on a show? But I could fruit ninja it 4. Fork hand 5. Also scissors and I would have a collection of the fun ones and sell the rest

6. Clone head. I think it might be helpful for multitasking 7. I was a curious child with an oral fixation (me likey chew on stuff) so I did taste a lot of the fabric stuff in my house. There are no "tasting fabrics" but cotton has a lighter sour taste than most of the others so I do like the taste of cotton better than linen and polyester 8. Huh didn't realize I mixed that one on accident. I'll fix it in a sec. 8a. Depends on if it's clean or straight off my body. If clean- a sock probably. Straight off my body- probably my shirt. Bonus if it has light food stains for extra flavor 8b. I think cats are pretty great at the nuisance game. Small enough to get almost anywhere but big enough to be a physical block

Fun fact I used some of these as icebreakers during a college orientation thing and somehow one of them was my friend then roommate to the end of it Anyways have at and feel free to spread them. I want more people to be deeply confused then contemplative, then have an actual answer

Decided to reblog to further my agenda of spreading the questions as much as I can 1. Would you rather have a silent stalker always 10 meters away(magically) or a talking sock eternally attached to your foot? If you were in the restroom or anything, the stalker would be mind your privacy. You can hold conversations with the sock, and it has no senses(Other than hearing) so it's not like it would complain of pain or die or anything

2. If you could replace any part of your body with an animal equivalent, what would you switch (like, no tails, and you can't grow wings, you'd have to trade them for your arms or something)?| 3. If you woke up tomorrow and your arms past your elbow had become scythes (think of the Pokemon Scyther if you need a reference), what job would you pick to do for the rest of your life?
