I am literally begging Queer people on this site to realize the Holocaust was not about them
Yes gay and trans people were also targeted, we're not denying that, but it was because homosexuality and transgenderism was seen as something caused by the Jews
The holocaust was about the Jews. Please stop pretending like it wasn't

this is nonsense from the Red Cross. they have designated protocols for hostage releases and they haven’t followed it once.
it does not include this:

what we have seen during these releases - the yelling mobs, the manipulations, the staged show of force and mock ceremony - should never have been allowed to happen.
Jon and Rachel were talking about this on day 54, again on day 80. it was day 330 when Hersh’s body was discovered.
(bold is mine. tw for graphic details in the ABC interview, though I’d imagine most all of you reading this know already the conditions in which the beautiful six were found.)
"People have asked me, because they know that we're religious, and they said, 'Have you lost your faith through this?' And I said, 'I have not lost my faith in God. I have lost my faith in a lot of people who I thought maybe would behave differently,'" she said.
“But, I have such incredible faith and pride in those six young people for making it so long and doing every single thing right, because, when someone puts a gun to your head or your hand or your neck and kills you when you are completely defenseless, that is not your fault in any way. They did every single thing right. And I am incredibly proud of Hersh and all of them for making it that long," she added.
Celebrities met us in secluded rooms but asked that we never acknowledge publicly that they did so; they feared losing followers. Leaders of humanitarian aid organizations, including the International Red Cross and the World Health Organization, claimed they would like to intervene but could not figure out how. Two Muslim clerics confidentially assured us, wrongly, that our loved ones would be okay because harming hostages violated Islam; but they and too many other religious leaders were publicly silent. More than one of these many people with power assured us that the hostages would survive, that their return was only a matter of time. Some said our loved ones were suffering but surely not dying.

So a while back, a fairly left-wing friend of mine was shocked at the thought of Left-Wing Holocaust Denial, asking how it could even be possible, how can the Left even deny the Holocaust given everything (quote: “why would the LEFT be in denial? After you read Elie Wiesel, you can’t deny any of it. Same with Maus, Frieda Appleman-Jurman’s memoirs, and all that. Also, Lois Lowry won a Newberry medal for Number the Stars”). So I’ve been chewing on this for a while now.
First, Right-Wing Holocaust Denial is straight up “denial that the Holocaust happened”–often with an undertone of “But we wish that it had and it was a great idea”. They deny the number of deaths, or excuse the Nazis, or say that the Jews had it coming, or say that it didn’t happen at all, that sort of thing. It’s a very blunt, straightforward form of denial.
Comparatively, Left-Wing Holocaust Denial takes a different, more sophisticated form that functions on multiple levels–with an undertone of its own along the lines of the Jews are exaggerating to try to portray themselves as victims”–and to talk about this form of denial, I have to explain what the Holocaust was.
So this gets a bit long, because what is being denied is long, but I will ask you to bear with me.
But, TL:DR:
Right Wing Holocaust Denial denies the body count and the atrocities…
Left Wing Holocaust Denial denies everything that built up to it, the centuries of Othering and murders, and the aftereffects.

Hey y'all. It's International Holocaust Awareness day Both of these books changed me. Consider reading them or please share for someone else who might. It's never a bad thing to learn more.
Inside the Gas Chambers: Eight Months in the Sonderkommando of Auschwitz by Slomo Venezia This is one of the only books I've found that touches on the living conditions and viewpoint of a Jew from Greece. Reading it, the author felt like a friend. It was horrifying.
Nazi Doctors: Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide this book explained people were taught to completely separate Jews from being human in people's minds in the years leading up to the Holocaust- especially in the medical field. It has interviews with some of the doctors who did these things. The site for the books also has an archive of images, films, objects, publications, recorded sounds and documents. You can find information on many communities. Thank you

Biden: I'm going to preemptively pardon my family and members of the government who have been targeted by Trump for years for just doing their jobs and speaking out against him
Trump: I'm going to pardon the white supremacists who tried to help me overturn the election
The media, in between pro-Trump jerkoff sessions: These are exactly the same

'People are panicking about AI tools the same way they did when the calculator was invented, stop worrying' cannot stress enough the calculator did not forcibly pervade every aspect of our lives, has such a low error rate it's a statistical anomaly when it does happen, isn't built on mass plagiarism, and does not obliterate the fucking environment when you use it. Be so fucking serious right now

i will say, the worst thing that happened in fandom was when shipping just became “i ship this bc it’s gonna be real” and not just “i ship this bc i think it’s a fun dynamic to explore idc what the writers are doing that’s not my business”

This isn't technically good news, but I wanted to highlight it, because it underscores a DEEPLY important thing to understand about the news and social media in their current forms: They are warping people's perception of reality. Bad news gets shared more, gets reported more, and gets highlighted more. People think that means there IS more bad news than good news, and that is simply not true. There are lots of good resources for finding good news, and you should seek it out for yourself to get a more accurate understanding of the world we all live in.

Anyway, daily reminder from a culturally isolated Romani person.
Gypsy does not mean wanderer.
It literally means ‘people from egypt’ or similar, as europeans believed Romani people were from Egypt. It has become known similar to nomad due to how our ancestors have been forced to be nomadic due to racism and ostracization, but it is a SLUR.
Romani people are STILL being forcibly sterilized.
Romani people are STILL being forced into ghettos.
Romani people are still facing violence and danger in countless European countries- and recently, I’ve seen the beginnings of the extremes in the United States.
Have a little fucking respect and DON’T USE A SLUR THAT’S BEEN USED FOR CENTURIES AGAINST US.
And for the love of whatever’s up there, ESPECIALLY do not use it to describe your witchcraft. It is playing on the ‘magic gypsy’ trope, and is EXTREMELY insulting.
non romani people, please reblog this.

to all the antisemites this hanukkah season acting like the world's greatest jewish allies: you might hear the phrase "a great miracle happened there" bandied around. in fact, the acronym for that phrase in hebrew is on every dreidel! yep every dreidel! where is the "there" being talked about?? don't worry about it :))) and in what country do the dreidels instead have the acronym for "a great miracle happened here" instead? don't worry about it :)))) and don't worry about the actual story of the holiday either or what it means :)))))) it's definitely not about the jews fighting off their oppressors in order to take back control of their homeland or anything :))))) nothing to do with jewish self-determination here no sirree :))) this is definitely a very easy holiday to enjoy if you hate israel with every bone in your body and hope it and everyone inside it dies horribly :))))) hanukkah definitely isn't inextricably linked to israel and the jewish connection with the land of israel as our homeland :)))
