Elijah blinked several times as he tried to make heads or tails of anything the feline was saying. For all he knew, the thing could be casting spells on him... But given that it was a cat ( or the equivalent of ), the bard didn't worry too much about it.
" Little man I have no idea what most of the words you just said to me mean, but they sure do sound interesting. "
The headbutting was surprisingly endearing, and instinctively dropped Elijah to a seated position. There, now he was more level with Sox.
" Ah, not usually no... " He honestly didn't willingly put dirt in his mouth at all, but that doesn't mean he hasn't tasted it before. There were plenty of bar fights that ended with him being tossed teeth first into the mud ! " However, I am not a man to shy from a challenge ! "
Elijah nodded with maybe too much confidence and locked his eyes on the ground.. Yeah sure, why not, he'll shove dirt into his mouth because a talking cat told him too.
" Travelled planets you say ? " He could recall a few passing philosophers in his travels that swore up and down there was life far past the stars in the sky, and this cat-thing just proved them all right.
" Fascinating... "
The bard made a mental note to pick at the beastie for more information on that later. New things to learn were coming at him from several direction now !
" You want me to... what now ? You want me to taste the dirt ? "

" Well assume all you'd like, because as far as I am concerned, we're good as mates as anyone can be ! " Elijah wasn't hard to get along with, nor was he hard to meet. Overall, the bard was just pleased to have more people to talk to.
Especially fellow musicians. He rarely got to know any from where he was from, they usually just got mad at him for ' stealing their gigs '... It certainly wasn't his fault he drew a crowd quicker than worms to compost !
" So they took your strings too then ? Damn, at least they're consistent. Call it a hunch, but I don't think the man can even play ! I mean, did you look at his hands ? Not a callus on em' ! Er- well, I suppose that doesn't quite apply to you, my bad. But still, my point stands, no idea what that magic man is doin' with my Theodora, but I better get her back in perfect condition. " The bard furrowed his brows at the very thought of his dear lute alone in some box somewhere, or god forbid, being played by someone else... He didn't like that.
" Well good to know you're settlin' well enough. I suppose it's not the worst situation we could be in ! I've certainly been in worse. "
" The very same ! Though, my friends do just call me Elijah. " Elijah straightened himself out, a hand resting on his hip as he eyes the automaton up and down. He found his gaze tracing over the symmetrical gaps on his face and down his neck.
Absolutely fascinating... Oh how he wishes he had access to his journal about now, the sketches forming in his head would make heads spin where he's from !
" I'd like to think it's one of my best qualities ! Mother Delta would've had my hide as a lad if I did any less ! Ah but I am getting ahead of myself- Tell me, are you settling in ? Find your way to your lodgings with minimal difficulty ? "

A change of environment was always a good way to keep the bard's mind from dwelling on something for too long, and being put in a whole new world? Well, the idle mind's playground just got a lot bigger.
ENCOY was overwhelming to all of the senses. Bright, loud, and busy... and yet Elijah seemed perfectly adjusted as he walked the streets. He was utterly fascinated by the denizens around him, though the one that had caught his attention in particular came right up to him !
The hiss made his eyes flick to metallic joint, and then back to the actual face. " The Spine huh ? Well well ! " Elijah cocked a brow and gave his usual dramatic bow, flared out by his waist. " Ahem- The Bard, an absolute pleasure to put a name to a face. "

@havairiansong liked for a starter !
COMPARED TO THE OTHER AUTOMATONS THAT ENCOY was filled with , The Spine stood out. Not only was he about two feet or so taller than every one of them , but he didn't really look the part of an ENCOY native , either. It only took him five minutes into his walk to retract his , er , dorsal fins , in an attempt to look a little less out of place. Other than that , though , it was mostly uneventful. The colorful ( and horribly tall ) buildings were enough to keep him occupied - being met with a new shape or color at every turn. He looked at every street corner , mentally calculating which one would be the best to set up at. You know , if he ever got his guitar back. He'd need some money to keep himself repaired , because he knew full well he couldn't do it himself.
OUT OF THE CORNER OF HIS OPTICS , he saw a man staring at him as he passed. The look was of curiosity - maybe even awe. And , since he didn't have anything better to do , he decided to introduce himself. He was going to have to get used to being surrounded by new folks anyways. So , what was the worst that could happen ?
HIS ARM PIVOTED AT THE ELBOW , a hiss sounding from the joint as it moved back and fourth in a wave. ❛ My name's The Spine , if you were wondering. Because of the - well - I'm sure you've noticed it already. ❜

Luctenmire was fine and all, gorgeous architecture for sure ! But, something about Glacier's Peak just reminded Elijah of home. It reminded him enough to not let the glances from denizens deter him as he picked between a few different pairs of gloves heavier than his archery wraps.
The bard put a pin in the tune he was humming as Anton asked for an opinion.
" Well first and foremost, thank you ever so much ! " A hand raised to his chin, scratching at his beard while he gave it an honest to god thought.
" Hmm... Hold that first one up again for me good sir ? "
@havairiansong liked for a starter!
THE CONSTANT FLURRY OF SNOWFALL was one of Anton’s favorite things about Glacier’s Peak. The blanket of snow that enveloped the whole town muffled the noises of the mundane , and just made it look so much prettier. There is only one major downside to living here ── he wasn’t exactly dressed the part. Sure , he was wearing long sleeves and boots , but it didn’t take long for the chill to cut through his shirt and seep right into his bones. So , that meant it was about time to at least invest in a coat. And maybe a proper pair of gloves.
THE CRUNCH OF FRESH SNOW UNDER FOOT is the only sound that accompanied him as he walked down the Borealis Strip in search of some proper winter attire. Luckily for him , there was no shortage of stores selling hats , boots , and anything else you’d need to fight off the cold. He ducked into the first one that caught his eye , shaking some of the excess snow out of his hair.
AS HE PERUSED THE STORE’S VARIOUS SUPPLY of coats , his lips pursed together. Ah , he never was good at decision making. That’s what Edmund was for. After a while , he picked up two coats , holding them up to himself. He then turned to the nearest stranger , looking him up and down. ❛ You look like a fashionable fellow , tell me ─ which one of these should I buy ? ❜

Elijah hummed low as he got his answer, furrowing his brows. Now that he thought about it, that was kind of a stupid question. Why would anyone out here know a damn thing ? Aren't they all just aimlessly wandering about ?
" Here I was thinking I slept a little too hard. It wouldn't be the first time I've dreamt up some strange land to explore ! "
The bard gave a half hearted laugh, resting a hand on his hip, the other outstretched to Chai. He may as well get a head start on making allies, who knows what kind of environment he was tossed into. " Elijah Torvis, professional story teller and bard. What name do I match to such a striking visage ? "
@dfect
For a while, Elijah really did just think he was dreaming a little too hard in that hay cart he hitched a ride in, but his crossbow and his lute weren't on him... He'd NEVER dream without those. So of course, he went with his second guess, which was spontaneous kidnapping !
After being ushered out and into the strange new world, the first thing he did was look around at the small crowd of equally confused people dispersing in different directions... That's when he saw the brightly dressed brunette standing nearby, seemingly bouncing to his inner song.
Or.. Maybe he was just nervous. That was also an option.
" Well, this is certainly a first. " The bard sauntered up behind Chai, looking around like he hadn't made a direct bee-line. " Many pardons my good sir, but uh- Dare I ask if you have any idea where we are ? "

" I think I've gone and lost my mind ! Now the animals are talking ! "
Though, Elijah used the word 'animal' loosely, unsure if that's what Sox even was anymore... Oh what the hell, a cat is a cat no matter which way you try and swing it. Once he shakes off the initial startle, he's right back to running his hand along the feline's back in earnest this time.
" Right on the nose little man... Though, all things considered, I've certainly been through worse ! A new environment isn't too bad. "
