Oh, This Thing
So our home design blog didn't go very far, did it? Let's resurrect this thing.
So we have a new roommate now: Jamie. Jessica & I decided to change this blog's purpose. We still will post home design/decorating stuff but now it's just going to be a general group blog for the three of us. All of our names start with "J", so I changed the name of the blog to Haus of J.
More soon…

Organizing an entire kitchen is a lot to take on, especially when both you and your roommate have a lot of work and stuff going on. We decided we would take it a step at a time. In this case, I am taking on one drawer at a time.
I started with the flatware drawer. We have a lot of mismatched utensils. Some come from college, some were inherited from my old office that closed its doors a couple years back, and some come from a would-be roommate who decided not to return but left all his stuff here.
We would prefer to have one full, attractive, and ergonomically comfortable set of silverware. None of the current collection are that. For now this stuff will do, but we are definitely on the look-out for something that catches our eye. Stay tuned.

Our first project is the kitchen. Right now it’s a little hectic and unorganized. Before we start trying to redecorate it we decided the first step would be to reorganize and clean it.
I started out by writing down all the different types of kitchen stuff we had on post-it notes. Then I put them where they made sense and kept moving notes around until we landed on a system that worked. (This is not too different from how a designer might think about content strategy before beginning a design project.)
We now know where we want everything to go, and the next step is to actually start putting things in their right places!
