As a small artist chargebacks like this hit really close and it hit me in a time when I really needed money and was out of work :(

These blood shots are framed like erotic climaxes: the camera slows, the light catches the droplets midair, Will’s expression is one of dazed awe. The gaze is not repulsed, it is entranced or proud. There is beauty in the transgression, in the staining. These are not scenes of death. They are scenes of becoming.

Their relationship is a sustained tension between restraint and release, repression and exhibition. The eroticization of Hannibal’s blood on Will’s face is where that tension erupts. It replaces what cannot be shown (semen, orgasm, surrender) with a metaphor that is even more primal. Blood is older than lust, older than language.
