Biblically accurate Jimmy and Ghost /j

headcanon / fic idea that’s basically an extra chapter of the puppet arc where Johnny Ghost is still spontaneously dimension-hopping and in one of them he runs into Gavin Toast

either this is the real Gavin coincidentally visiting that dimension via magic or it’s another dimension’s version of him

Ghost confuses Gavin for Johnny Toast, which is a huge sign that he’s not doing okay because he usually never mixes them up.

By this point, Ghost is so exhausted, delusional, and disregulated that he can’t ground himself in reality, and he can’t recognize Gavin even after Gavin tells him that he’s not Johnny. (Gavin has nothing to gain from impersonating his brother here)

Ghost is somewhat aware enough to seem like he understands, he’s trying to appear in control and not out of his mind, but the next minute he’ll forget again and go back to talking to Gavin as if he’s Johnny Toast

Gavin doesn’t know what to do with him, because Jimmy’s not present right now and Gavin and Ghost have been enemies by default for years, but Gavin reluctantly tries to help him somehow because he’s obviously been through some shit lately

Ghost feels a warped sense of reassurance from Gavin being there because Ghost is way too out of it to tell the difference between the twins right now, also Ghost and Gavin used to be friends, and Gavin is a comforting presence for Jimmy

or it could also go another way, where Gavin being there is a positive trigger for Jimmy and there are brief moments where Jimmy takes control because he wants to talk to Gavin. Then Gavin can see how hard Ghost subconsciously tries to repress Jimmy and he witnesses Ghost’s dissociative amnesia first-hand

Gavin ends up working out a spell to help Ghost get back to his own dimension. He knows the best thing for both Ghost and Jimmy right now is to get back to Johnny Toast, though he’ll never admit it.

It’s the first time in years that he’s done a favour for nothing in exchange.
