you know the thing about The Menu (2022) is that so many people came out of it being like "haha eat the rich" and yeah, sure, but really the chef's issue wasn't with the rich people, I mean he hated them and wanted them dead yes, but his issue was that he had let the world of ambition take him so far from the joy of cooking that he once felt, from the art that he loved to make, because he let himself chase status and exclusivity, when really he could have been making his art for everyone, at a certain point he did not need to be cooking for rich people he could have found people who appreciated his food because they loved food, he could have leaned into the art he loved instead of the art he was expected to make with the set dressing he was expected to make it in, and that is a critique of capitalism, but it's not an "eat the rich" type critique, it's not just rich people who have had their relationship to art changed by capitalism, we all have in one way or another, think about the phrase "consuming content", we are consuming, not savoring, and what does it mean to be an artist when being an artist means being a content creator, being consumed, and what artistic principles can you really afford to have when you need to make money to live, but what principles will you forget to pick back up when you have the money, how far gone from yourself do you have to be to no longer be able to go back? What does it mean when you haven't cooked a burger for yourself, for your friends, for someone who loves a burger, because you're always, only cooking for those who can afford you? What do you cook for yourself? Do you savor it? What art do you make when no one's watching? Can you still make art when no one's watching?

but the other thing about The Menu (2022) is that they literally don't eat the rich people. Look at me. They do not eat the rich people they are all burned alive, guests and staff, and that's Different

I spent the first 4 hours of this drawing hating it with a seething passion, but it might be my favourite now :) (depends on how day 4 turns out) in this AU Fukusawa is her manager, Ranpo is her producer, and Kouyou is her rival who she kisses sometimes.

so the first screenshot is trying to look this up on tiktok normally, "donald trump rigged election" and it says that search violates community guidelines.

the second screenshot is looking up the same exact thing, but with a (australian) vpn on. canadian vpn didn't fix it fyi.

THIS is exactly the type of censorship to be looking out for on tiktok. this actually is crazy.

For those wondering, I physically can't go back to tiktok. I deleted the app right before it went dark when videos started becoming unavailable. So far, it is not in the app store, but even if it were, I don't trust a trump endorsed tiktok one that he flip-flopped on because he saw opportunity.

And this is why I won’t be using TikTok again; even if it gets unbanned.

The fact that Tiktok is already calling him "President Trump" even though he hasn't been fucking inaugurated yet has made clear who its new owners are and what agenda they'll be pushing even though he spearheaded the fucking ban in the first place.

Anyway get prepared for Tiktok to veer VERY far right into Trump cultism. Hopefully we'll find a tiktok clone that isn't official state media, be it American or Chinese.

idk if i should explain to them that tiktok IS banned. it has been removed from the appstores, which is what the bill said it would do. the app will no longer receive updates, and tiktok gets updates very frequently. pretty soon, the app is going to start glitching and will eventually crash and be unusable. trump IS trying to get tiktok unbanned (he was the one who brought up the ban in the first place, but that was before he had a tiktok page of his own with 14.9 million followers. HYPOCRITE IN THE HOUSE) but that still feels shady to me ngl

Just in case any of you are confused, TikTok being banned and coming back not even 24 hours later with a giant "we thank President Trump" message is NOT a win. It's a huge red flag and a sign that this was a thousand percent planned.

TikTok went away because congress RIPPED it away from us. It let to many activist groups connect faster than ever before; it let too many voices of dissent be heard louder than ever before; and most importantly it was more popular than Facebook, Twitter( cuz fuck that X bullshit), and instagram.

I understand losing both of these platforms hurt, I was alive for vine's death to. But don't let yourself be fooled into a falce equivalence.
