Hey, anyone want to send me some outer wilds writing prompts?

Can be something you think of for my OCs, really anything you can think of. Doesn’t necessarily have to be about my OCs either

My OCs are: Gypsum (hatchling), Opal (hatchling/hearthian), Rosette (hearthian), and Rubble (hearthian)

31. If your OC is in a relationship then what do they suspect they do that most annoys their partner? Are they correct in this belief? If they are single then what do they worry might annoy a prospective partner?

Gypsum has a nasty little habit of bottling up their emotions until something sets them off. They are aware this is annoying at best and causes problems at worst. It caused a pretty big falling out in their previous relationships with Rosette and Rubble. (Suppressing jealousy and being around Rubble– someone who has no problems voicing their negative emotions– was not a good combination.) They have tried to be more open, but old habits die hard.

Opal worries that their lack of experience would annoy a prospective partner, or how they can be indecisive... or how they write everything down, how they need to constantly be reassured that they are doing good... the list goes on.

35. Would your OC be any use in providing advice on love or relationships to a friend?

Gypsum would not give very good advice, not terrible like "be the one who's chased, not the chaser." They're still not sure what that was supposed to mean. They do have some good nuggets of wisdom buried in there, though (mainly stuff they've overheard others say).

Opal surprisingly gives really good advice, despite their lack of experience. They're pretty observant and take notes of everything, so maybe not so surprising. Now, if they could only apply it to their own romantic endeavors...

12. What was the worst advice your OC ever received on the subject of love and relationships?

The worst romantic advice that Gypsum ever received would be, "Let them chase you, don't chase them." This advice was given to them as a teen by an equally inexperienced teen. What does that even mean?

15. Would your OC be happy to be given flowers by an admirer or partner? What would be their favorite to receive?

That is one of their favorite gifts to receive: a bouquet of wildflowers. The thought behind it just warms their heart, to be thought of enough to pick flowers for. They also really like dandelion "bouquets". Just the whole plant, roots 'n all. They're very useful plants.

17. Would your OC be very confident in making the first move? Or do they prefer to wait for the other person to do so?

It depends on the situation. They have been known to wait for the other party to make the first move, but they also have been known to do the opposite. Just ask Gabbro. Hmm? Did someone say something?

34. Is it usual for others to develop a crush on your OC? Are they usually oblivious to this? If not then how do they manage such things?

Gypsum is the one developing crushes on people. All. The. Time. If others are developing crushes on them, they are very oblivious to it. Gypsum is very flirty, so it probably happens more than they realize.

47. When was the last time your OC cried because of something in their relationship or love life?

Gypsum doesn't cry. But if they were to cry, it was during the loops, when they found out there was no saving anyone, they cried for their blossoming relationship with Gabbro... Not actually, of course. They did cry post-loop after they hurt Gabbro deeply, unintentionally...

32. Is your OC a confident dancer? Would they enjoy dancing with a lover or partner? Even (or especially) in a public setting?

Gypsum loves to dance and will dance anywhere with anyone. It may or may not be what sparked Gabbro's crush on them when they were adults (before the loops.) It totally is.

Ah! ok, this one is fun to think about for Opal.

Opal is very shy, and I headcanon that Hal is too. While both enjoy dancing, they're probably both too shy to dance publicly with a partner. They both would definitely need at least a drink in them to have the gumption to dance publicly. Who would make the first move, though? Opal. Opal would. It would be after everything had slowed down, they would dance together in the quiet of the night, off to the side. The gentle glow of the campfire reflected from their eyes in turn as distant music finds its way to them in the dark.

2. Does your OC remember their first crush?

Gypsum absolutely remembers their first crush and every other one that came after. Gabbro was their very first crush. Gypsum thought they were so cool, and they listened to all of their ideas, no matter how outlandish they seemed to be. They buried that crush one day, though, when they felt like Gossan and Feldspar were making fun of them for it (they weren't.) Gypsum vehemently denied that they ever had a crush on them then. (Gabbro was completely oblivious to it until Gossan and Feldspar pointed it out.) That crush would resurface every once in a while, until the loops started, then it came back in full force.

Opal has retrograde amnesia, so unfortunately, they don't remember much from their hatchling hood, if anything at all. Despite that, they will tell you their first crush is Hal. Gypsum has taken it upon themself to be the matchmaker.

7. What gift would they be most delighted to receive from a suitor or lover?

oOOOh!! This one!!!! Listen, I'm going to gush about my time buddies for this. Im gonna answer this in the most abstarct way possible, sorry

Stone share (looking at you, Dekkii, this idea is so cute I had to borrow it.)

This would be the gift that Gypsum would be so delighted and probably very shocked to receive, but not shocked that Gabbro has their own ideas for it. During the loops, as they became more romantic with each other, Gabbro would take their necklace and put it on Gypsum whenever they had a chance. (Ceramic bead glazed to look like a quantum shard on a thin leather cord.) Post-loop, Gabbro makes a matching necklace for them. These necklaces are a stand-in for their final ones. Eventually, Gabbro figures out how to narrow down the area in which the actual shard appears and makes a pendant that jumps between their new necklaces. Gypsum is in awe that they were able to do that, and even more so that they were willing to go to that extent. For them, for all that they had been through, together and apart, it still shocked them.

As for Opal, anything goes. A tiny wildflower handed to them in passing by Hal? Into their journal it goes, folded into the pages to be kept forever. Leaf stuck to their scarf that Hal "jokingly" gives them? Journal. A small handful of pretty river rocks that Hal shyly hands them? In their pockets and written about in their journal.

50. Does your OC believe they are easy to love?

Ok, more time buddy fluff.

Gypsum views themself as a deeply damaged person, hard to love through all the jagged edges they try so hard to wrap up. Especially after the loops. It's still a little jarring for them that Gabbro is sticking around. On the other hand, Gabbro thinks it's very easy to love Gypsum. They see Gypsum as someone who loves so hard and cares so deeply they were willing to put their life in danger to stop the sun from dying to save their people. How could they not love them? They witnessed them shatter over and over just to build themself back up and try again. When there was no hope, they made the hardest decission, to let it end, and they did. They make it so easy to love them, how could they not?

No Opal for this one. I didn't have the heart to finish up with something so simple in comparison.
