If there was a reason to give, Shiloh would have already proposed it already - so the persistent asking were merely words floating by, and Shiloh paid them no mind. Instead, he decided to focus on a different set of words, specifically the one word; cautious. They supposed it wasn’t a real surprise- not really. Harrison was, despite all his exterior boasted of, deeply cautious by nature. Cautious of upsetting his father, cautious of anything that could wrong for him, that could come close to threatening his ‘charmed life’… the bitterness appeared out of nowhere, nearly taking Shiloh by surprise. So, shocker, his ex was still cautious - but that still begged to reason with, what was he cautious of? Of Shiloh? Instead of voicing the inner-monologue, Shiloh’s cheeks dented once more into that same shit-eating grin, and he nodded knowingly, the motions dramatized. “Ah, I see, you’re a horny drunk. We aren’t there, I get that,” He jested, perhaps a little too open, a little too jovial, for the situation at hand.
It’s all they knew how to do. For all you could fault Harrison for his cautions, Shiloh took just as many, just in different ways. So forceful in their ‘truth’, at being undoubtably themselves, it became a bit of shield to hide behind. A smile to deflect tension, a laugh to hide the genuinely underneath. When your identity becomes your armor, it’s hard to feel safe at all.
Distracted only for a moment with their Blue Hawaiian being set down in front of them, Shiloh’s eyes were quick to flash back to Harrison as he explained. “Oh, no, sorry, I may have confused it. I saw the Instagram post first thing - then I tried to look you up. It was all, like, pretty fast, actually. Maybe a little over two weeks ago I saw the video clip,” Shiloh ended it definitively, as if that were all Harrison needed to clarify things. Still, the ending quip stung deeper than he’d have liked - how long did you forget? It took every fiber of his being not to sign back - how long did it take you? His finger twitched, but his hands stayed still.
“Look… listen,” They sighed now, a crack in the mask. “It’s the only explanation I got for you, ‘kay? I mean, they write movies about this shit - guy is reminded of girl, guy hits girl up, guy and girl catch up, a multiple of endings transpire. Just, it’s me, and you know me, so when the guy hits girl up part didn’t work out… I had to go fully extra about it. Now we’re at the catching up part. Or, sometimes these things end horribly, where you take this drink-” Shiloh pushed it gently down the counter, so it was front of Harrison. “Throw it in my face, scream some insults, and we part ways forever, if you prefer. Though, I actually bought this shirt just yesterday, so the first suggestion is way preferred by me, personally.”
---
Did Harrison have to be a dick to Shiloh? No, he didn’t, but in that moment he wanted to keep Shiloh at arms length, so to speak. He thought that by keeping Shiloh at a distance, they’d both be safe. Despite his shitty attitude in the moment, Harrison still cared for Shiloh a great deal. He just knew that in the past, both of them had been hurt. One of them being hurt usually resulted in both of them feeling the same way. He couldn’t have that again. He Wouldn’t.
“Come on Shi, you know me,” Harrison held out his arms in an almost holy pose, “horny is my middle name, at least it would be if it wasn’t Clint.” Harrison jested in return, hoping to alleviate some anxieties that Shi may have, and especially his own anxieties. After all, it wasn’t Shiloh’s fault, and clearly he wasn’t the only reason they were there. “Well, regardless of all the reasons why, it is good to see you again, I guess,” Harrison’s eyes fell to his shoes, “I just was super freaked when you appeared seemingly out of nowhere. I wasn’t expecting it, and I...” He shook his head lightly, “... I’m sorry.”
Harrison watched the drink glide toward him. He looked into Shiloh’s eyes, looking him up and down, noticing the shirt. “I could throw a drink on you, but that shirt suits you, and I’m a little jealous it’s not mine.” Admittedly, the only reason Harrison considered doing it was so Shiloh would take his shirt off. Instead, he took a sip of Shiloh’s drink as a bit of an olive branch. “You got good taste, kid.”

he was always glad to run into harrison. granted, they only really started to get to know each other not too long ago, but they always seemed to be on the same wavelength. besides, he’d always made a note to talk to the cute guy flinging the flames upstairs, just never got the chance to do so. “ is that what people call divine timing ? are you my twin flame ? ” he teases back, honestly just throwing terms he heard on tiktok. “ alright, here — ” he hands harrison his car keys, “ you go back to my car — it’s over there, ” he points towards his beat up, black mustang. “ and i’ll get the milk duds. sound like a deal ? ”

Alex was a chill dude, someone Harrison could see himself spending some time with, especially alone. Alex was someone similar to Harrison, a bit nihilistic, funny as hell, but a heart of gold. “I don’t know, man,” Harrison acted clueless, “play your cards right, and we can call it whatever you want.” Alex reached out and handed Harrison the keys to a Mustang. “Alright, deal,” He grabbed the keys, “don’t take too long though, wouldn’t wanna miss the movie.” He gave a wink.

❝ 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐀 ! ❞ name your top 5 of the island
This was fairly easy seeing as how he had made some pretty good connections here on magnetic. "My number one is Alex, he is funny, sweet, and charming as fuck. My number two is Dora, she pushes me to be better in every way, grateful to have a gym rat buddy here. My number three is Gabe, we haven't spoken much but he has a huge heart and is selective on who gets it. My number four would be Estella, because she is such a badass, she inspires me to give zero fucks, which is something I needed when I came here. Finally my number five would have to be Keira, she's sweet, a little awkward, and she's my lil Swedish Meatball."

❝ 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐀 ! ❞ What are some of the guilty pleasures that you're willing to admit?
Harrison chuckled aloud, processing his possible answers in his head. "I have read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë seven times and have enjoyed it seven times," he admitted, without hesitation, "I would say thats my most guilty pleasure, but I'm not even sorry."

❝ 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐀 ! ❞ What conspiracy theories do you believe in?
"First of all," Harrison started with a little pep and sass, "I don't believe in conspiracy theories I believe in evidence." He stroked his hairless chin as he spoke, "The evidence shows that aliens totally exist and probably live among us, but I don't mind, because the more the merrier. Also the possibility of aquatic life such as mermaids isn't too far out there."

❝ 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐀 ! ❞ F, M, K for island residents
This was a fairly easy question for Harrison except for the kill part. "F: Alex, because who wouldn't, M: Dora, she just seems to get me, and she can match my energy, and K: probably that manbun-wearing dork Nemuel." Harrison let out a hearty laugh for such a little dude.

spill the tea! if you could erase one past experience from your memory, what would it be?
"There are really so many," Harrison replied, rethinking all of his past experiences, "if I had to choose one it would be my break up with Shiloh. I was going through a lot at the time, and I would do anything to change the way it played out... but it helped shape who I am today, so I can't really complain."

a grin spread mel’s cheeks as they nodded in agreement. “ they are, but there’s no way that they aren’t plastic. they taste like chemically flavored plastic with a bit of chewiness, but definitely still plastic. ” as rare as it was for mel to indulge in things that weren’t organic, but sweets, especially chewy sweets, had always been their absolute weakness. “ dippin dots are so good, i don’t know why people act like they hate them so much. plus, they’re so small and you can get them in that cute little baggie ! maybe we should try to get them here at koala kingdom … . ” mel trailed off, already thinking about who it was that she would have to talk to to get that to happen. “ cause you’re right . . . kinda ! lots of people go swimming without bathing suits. ” normally in private, but it still happened.
“ you have five boxes ? you got yourself a stash for sure. did you get them off of amazon or something, or did you have to order them directly from the company ? ” mel was hoping that it was the former rather than the later, given that meant that she could probably have them in less than 72 hours.
---
Harrison weighed the facts for a moment before concluding that Mel was absolutely right, all the best childhood candies had a plasticness to it. “Yeah they definitely are atleast mostly plastic. How could they not be?” Harrison shuddered at the thought of how many Halloweens, Christmases and other celebrations he had put that junk in his body. One thing in particular about her statement was funny, one of the first things Harrison had checked for at Koala Kingdom was Dippin’ Dots. “Wow, for real,” his mouth slightly watered as he thought of the possibility, “I was so surprised Koala Kingdom didn’t have them. We should start a petition!” A petition for Dippin’ Dots at a wildlife preserve seemed kind of silly, but there wouldn’t be any need for a petition if they just had them already. “That is true,” Harrison conceded, “I’ve even done that a few times, mainly on dares.”
He probably sounded gluttonous, but the manufacturers were running an insane deal when spring hit in the United States. “I do,” Harrison admitted with a slight cringe on his face, “I ordered them from candyasap.com, but you can probably get them quicker from Amazon. I didn’t even think of that.” If Harrison spent more time doing actual thinking, maybe he would have had his Cookie Dough Bites weeks ago.
#interaction; Melanie#Sorry for the late reply#also dont feel any pressure to match length#I was just on a roll there#Also dots are definitely plastic#but i still love them

“No!” Shiloh protested immediately, almost cutting Harrison off with the frustrated sigh, unsure how else to convince his ex of the fact he did not come here for him… despite that being pretty much exactly what happened. It hadn’t felt like that, until now, until being called out for it - and though they had grown and evolved since then, it was still a stinging wound to his pride knowing Harrison had made that connection. The heartbreak when things between them ended, for good finally, was subdued, but Shiloh remembered.
Bristling at the next comment, Shi turned so he was facing forward again, a light frown in place, and the movement was obvious. If he couldn’t see Harrison, he couldn’t hear Harrison. Some of the annoyance was able to wear off, and Shiloh picked up on the order, turning once more to Harrison with the frown firmly situated across his lips. “I drink now, you know…” He muttered, figuring Harrison was still imagining the high school Shiloh.
That Shi was a whole different person, so once a water was sloppily placed before him, they gave a forced smile to the bartender. “A blue Hawaiian, please,” he ordered loudly. “Enjoy your water,” He smirked, an eyebrow quirking as he looked at the glasses. Funny - he wouldn’t have assumed Harrison would be the kind to keep up with waters at the bar. “When you’d turn into such an old man?” It was a safe statement - a gentle teasing, a light-hearted comment to keep things from feeling overwhelmingly emotional, awkward…. which, somehow, they had ended up being. Unspoken questions swirled in Shi’s mind.
Something Harrison had said finally caught up with Shiloh, and his expression changed, brows furrowing in confusion. “Wait-” He signed, but spoke the words aloud too, leaning in again to be sure he was heard & understood. “You’re surprised I took this long? I thought you were surprised I was here at all. Were you waiting for me?” Why the hell would he expect Shiloh to follow him - why would Shiloh even be here to begin with? Oh. Now he was beginning to truly realize how strange this whole decision had been… like awakening from a trance. The island had all but pulled him there.
----
Harrison stood patiently looking at Shiloh as if saying, ‘tell me I’m wrong’. All signs were pointing towards the fact that Shiloh came here for him. A whole 5 years after they had dumped Harrison (even though he kind of deserved it). Harrison couldn’t wrap his mind around the why. “Then what is the reason, Shiloh?” Harrison asked, keeping a calmer demeanor now.
It had occurred to Harrison that he and Shiloh were now older. Over twenty-one, they were adults in every way. That being the case, Harrison had no desire to be around to find out how Shiloh acts when he is buzzed. Were they a happy-lovey drunk that gets all nostalgic about the old days? That was what Harrison had come to the island to escape. Were they an angry type of drunk that would pour salt on the wounds of the past? Maybe he was overthinking it, but he wanted to be sure. “I’m just being cautious, is all.” He signed back to Shiloh as he spoke.
“I haven’t gotten old,” Harrison said, somewhat offended, “just more responsible. . . okay, that’s not quite true either. I just would rather you not get tipsy if I’m gonna remain cool.” He knew that if Shiloh got nostalgic, he would get nostalgic too, things might get serious. It doesn’t take a PhD from Oxford for him to know he was nowhere even near ready for anything serious, or anything involving an ex.
Harrison hadn’t been waiting for Shiloh. Hell, he thought he would never see Shiloh again, and he was at peace with that fact. “No, I mean you tried to look me up recently and couldn’t find anything,” he started, “but you decide to come for me when you see me in some instagram post? How long did you forget I existed before all that?” He had so many questions, but Shiloh had their own way of thinking, and it had always been hard for him to understand it.

As the punch connected, she first thought the vibration rattling from her fist to her shoulder came from the force she put behind it, then the reverberation carried on; through her bones to the tips of her toes. It bounced from her soles as pins and needles and she recognised the feeling of frustration in her heart. It was misplaced, foreign, bright. Bleeding through from the other side of… somewhere. Dora stumbled back a few paces, no longer in the room, expecting adrenaline to tighten her chest and blot her vision, but the faint she expected to follow never came.
She heard the word fight and, like a light switch, she was in her body again, her sense of self heaping on every tired muscle. Harrison’s words bounced around her ears like she’d never been gone at all. You’ve been here the whole time her inner voice reasoned. Dehydration. Using her teeth to pull open the velcro of her right glove, Dora shook it off and turned to grab her water bottle from a corner of the ring. One deep drink later, she finally answered. “My grandad. He fought professionally in the seventies. They called him Rednal’s Revenge and he won’t let anyone forget it.” She rolled her eyes and decided to take a seat right there on the felt matting. “Shit. You’re bleeding.”
---
Harrison hadn’t taken a beating like that in a while. Usually, he trained with bags and pads, with the occasional spar every now and again. However, he wasn’t ashamed to say Dora kicked his ass. She was about his height, and was definitely fiery and athletic. “Shit,” Harrison was momentarily stunned by the revelation that her grandfather was a pro boxer back in the day, “well my grandpa was wiry, hunched, and always whined, even when he was younger and had little to whine about. Your grandad sounds like a legend compared to mine.” He had wiped the dribble of blood from his lip once more, only really noticing he was bleeding after she pointed it out. He had been so full of adrenaline, he hadn’t really noticed or cared. He pulled his hand free of the glove and grabbed a towel and drenched it with ice water from his bottle, then he applied it to his chin and lip. “It’s all good, I promise. I played with the bull and got the horns.” He chuckled as he held his pinky and pointer finger up to his forehead.

He watches the larger animal as it approaches, excitement bubbling in his chest. How could he mind such a sweet face like that? Sure, he may get trampled on but this absolute delight could do so any given day of the week and Gabe would not care in the slightest. “Slow and painful is how I like everything in my life, romance and death included.” Laughs the redhead, eagerly pushing their hand out towards the dog for him to sniff, but receiving one of the most intense licks of his life. “You are adorable.” He beams, shuffling closer a little more so that he can give the dog a proper greeting. “You’re just happy to make new friends, huh? Plus, I’m pretty strong, I think I’d manage to survive a slobber attack.”
----
Harrison was used to people having timid reactions to Brutus. After all, he was a big hulk of a dog. His wrinkly, droopy face wasn’t the kind to immediately give off ‘warm welcome vibes’, but in this instance, Brutus’ jowls were pulled back in a pseudo smile. He was making noises that Harrison had never heard him make, like an excited whine or moan. With each word Gabe said, Brutus seemed to get more and more excited. “I will say, Brutus is a bit of an attention-seeker,” Harrison laughed with Gabe, “once you start, he will push his head into you if you try to stop. He’s like the ultimate battering ram.” In that moment, Harrison realized that pet’s do indeed imprint on their owners, much like himself, Brutus was always happy to make new friends, but not always successful. “Yeah, I think you are strapping enough to survive,” Harrison agreed, eyeing Gabe up and down unashamed, “however, Brutus is persistent, so I hope you have the patience to match.”

“ i suppose it’s just a perfect place for teenagers to awkwardly discover the human body. ” he lets out a small chuckle at the comparison, and the memory. god, tragedy of loss was hard enough on alex growing up, but to add the cruelty of puberty on top of that ? the world was an ugly and dark place. “ oh harrison, how’d you know i clutched my rose quartz and lulled myself to sleep every night thinking about this very meet-cute ? ” he teases with a faux small gasp, putting his hand to his chest. “ how about i buy us more of the martyred snack and we can watch this in my car ? fair warning, i tend to love to be a commentary box during films. think you can tolerate me talking your ear off ? ”
---
Alex was on point, there was no better place for sexual awakening than a movie theater. More specifically, drive-in theaters. “You know, I only knew that because I was clutching my rose quartz manifesting that you would think of this. In a way, I’m in your head, bro,” Harrison laughed as Alex dramatically put his hand over his chest, “sound’s like a deal, milk duds, meet-cutes, and memories.” It was no secret that Harrison was a talker. It just so happened to be his second best skill. Though probably his longest developed one. Of course he could handle listening to Alex talk during the movie. With a voice like his, who couldn’t handle it?

💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?
All of them, to be honest. He "deals with his emotions" by being a cocky hedonist, so is he really even dealing with them?

Harrison’s birthday is July 29th, 1998. A true leo. I Imagine he doesn’t care, but he will gladly accept any well-wishes. I don’t think he would mind too much if he never got a phone call, present, etc. He “has bigger things to focus on”, according to himself.
I think that if Harrison could choose to be remembered as anything, he would want to be remembered as an all around good guy. Though he comes off as cocky and full of himself, he has plenty of himself to give. He is a good listener, he is funny, protective, and encouraging. He comes off as an asshole to protect himself and his vulnerability. Which is something I have noticed about a few leos that i know irl.

I hadn’t really given this much thought, but based on how he acts. I would say summer so he can have his shirt off, and he won’t be considered totally insane.

👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?
TW; death and sickness
Sadly, his mother died during childbirth, leaving his father to raise him alone. However when Harrison was in High School his father got really sick from being exposed to carcinogens. Before Harrison ghosted and moved to Australia, his father begged him to go away and forget about him. His father didn't think it was fair for his only son to have to take care of him. Harrison always respected his father's wishes (well mostly) and so he left. He did so without saying a word to any of his friends. In short: Harrison doesn't really have family, at least not immediate. He isn't very close to his extended family, I imagined they lived in the mainland U.S.
