Exactly!! I mean unless weâre engaged now đ
Plus Iâm shy anyway
đŠ
Iâm shy too haha but I just feel like⊠I donât know. I understand the appeal of wanting to be in a music video especially if that person is your partner but at the same time I also feel like thereâs a level of importance to keep them separate separately, especially if youâre not famous. Hmm idk!

If you and jack were on a long-term, committed, serious relationship (letâs say youâve been publicly dating for years) do you think heâd ask you to star as his love interest in a music video? đđđ I think I wouldnât now that I think abt it
I feel like as tempting as it would be to say yes I wouldnât want to do it. I wouldnât want to mix his art with our love life. ïżœïżœïżœïżœđ

I completely get what you mean by that because immediately when I watch the video and just saw the cinematography aspect of it I was like this is so chat coded for music video. But I love how much thought that goes into it like you can tell that because heâs such a perfectionist that whatever he put out you know that he put his heart and soul into it and thatâs what I love so much about him.
Yes!! Yes!! I agree!! You get the vision! đ€

Donât Like The Lights
Sequel to Flashing Lights series, must read Flashing Lights first to understand
Series Masterlist
19. Lâamour De Ma Vie
Noah and London were now six months old, and doctors gave Jack and Maryse the go ahead to start introducing them to baby food, and today was the first taste. Jack had Noah and London strapped into their high chairs, armed with tiny spoons and jars of baby food, while Maryse chatted with her manager Coco on the phone in the next room.
âAlright, Noah, London,â Jack grinned, holding up a jar of banana baby food. âLetâs see if youâre ready for the good stuff.â
He scooped a tiny spoonful of the banana mush and held it up to Noah, who eyed it curiously before opening his mouth. Noahâs face lit up the moment he tasted it, and he reached out for more, babbling excitedly, kicking his feet.Â
âLooks like someoneâs a fan,â Jack chuckled, spooning another bit into Noahâs mouth as his son happily gobbled it up.
Turning to London, he offered her a taste with equal enthusiasm. But the moment it touched her lips, London made a face of pure disgust, wrinkling her nose and letting the banana mush dribble out of her mouth. She gave Jack a look as if to say, âHow could you do this to me?â
âOh, not a fan, huh?â he laughed, grabbing a napkin to clean her little chin. âI thought everyone liked bananas!â
In the other room, Maryse overheard the commotion and chuckled to herself as Coco paused mid-sentence. âSounds like things are going⊠well?â Coco asked with a smirk in her voice.Â
Maryse laughed, glancing over to see Jack trying to win London over. âYou could say that,â she said, âNoahâs loving it, but London⊠not so much.â
She leaned against the wall, watching as Jack continued his adorable efforts, gently encouraging London with another tiny spoonful. âCome on, girl, just one more bite. Itâs not that bad, promise.â
But London pursed her lips defiantly, giving him a look that left no room for negotiation. Maryse smiled, knowing she was witnessing the twinsâ little personalities shine through already.
As she balanced her phone between her shoulder and ear, Maryse listened to Coco running through her upcoming schedule. âSince youâre back in the studio again things are definitely about to pick up. They want you to perform the national anthem at the closing ceremony for the Paris OlympicsâŠ.â
As Maryse listened to Coco on the other end of the line, her eyes widened. âWait, Coco, are you serious?â she asked, barely able to contain her surprise.
Coco laughed. âYes, Iâm serious! The committee wants you to sing the national anthem at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Itâs a huge honor, and theyâre thrilled at the idea.â
Maryseâs mind started racing. The Olympics⊠in Paris. A massive global stage, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. âWow⊠I donât even know what to say,â she breathed, glancing over at Jack, who was still amusing himself trying to coax London into another spoonful of baby food.
Jack noticed her expression and raised an eyebrow. âWhatâs going on?â he mouthed.
Maryse held up a finger, smiling in disbelief as Coco continued. âLook, itâs big, but they want an answer soon. Think about it, but know theyâd be honored to have you.â
âOkay, Iâll talk it over, but⊠yeah, wow, Coco. Thanks for telling me. Iâll get back to you soon.â She hung up and paused in the doorway, her heart melting at the scene in front of her. The twins were facing each other in their high chairs, babbling in what sounded like a secret language only they understood. Little giggles and expressive hand gestures filled the room as they looked at each other with wide, curious eyes.
Jack turned to Maryse with a grin, whispering, âI think theyâre plotting against us. Look at them.â
Maryse laughed, leaning into him. âI wouldnât be surprised,â she replied, watching as Noahâs babbling grew louder, and London responded with an enthusiastic clap.
Jack grinned, âWeâre doomed.â
Maryse laughed again, leaning into him. âIf they team up to take us down, we donât stand a chance.â
They both let out huge laughs, after coming down Jack squeezed her hips, âSo whatâs the big news?â
âSo⊠they want me to sing the national anthem at the closing ceremony of the Olympics,â she said, letting the weight of it sink in.
Jackâs face lit up, a huge grin spreading across his face. âParis? Babe, thatâs huge! You have to do it!âÂ
Maryse laughed, her excitement mixing with a touch of anxiety. âI know, itâs⊠I canât even wrap my head around it. But performing live, on a stage that big⊠itâs kind of terrifying, too.â
He stepped closer, wrapping an arm around her. âYouâre gonna kill it. If anyone can own that moment, itâs you. Besides,â he added âYou performed at the Super Bowl while pregnant.â
âI did do that, huh.â She said with a smirk as she looked up at him.Â
As Maryse soaked in the excitement, her expression shifted. âWaitâŠâ She looked up at Jack, a flicker of worry crossing her face. âIsnât that the same weekend youâre booked to perform in Saudi Arabia?â
Jackâs smile faded as he did a quick mental check. âOh man⊠yeah, it is.â He ran a hand over his head, realizing the dilemma. âI completely forgot they overlap.â
They looked at each other, both trying to piece together a way to make it work. âWeâre gonna be on two different continents,â she murmured, disappointment settling in. âThis is huge for both of us, thoughâŠâÂ
She glanced at Noah and London who were busy with their baby food. âAnd⊠whoâs going to watch the babies?â She looked back at Jack, concerned in her eyes. âWeâve never left the country without them before. A couple hours away sure butâŠâ
He nodded, the same worry flickering across his face. âI know. Weâd need someone we trust completely.â He thought for a moment before adding, âMaybe my parents could stay at our place? Theyâve handled them for weekends, and the twins love them.â
Maryse sighed, still looking uncertain. âYeah, theyâd be in good hands, but itâs so different knowing weâll be so far away.â
He put his hand on her shoulder, squeezing gently. âI get it. I feel the same. But if this is something we both need to do, we can make sure theyâre safe and loved. And we can be on FaceTime constantly.â
She nodded, finally letting herself smile a little. âAlright, if we can set up everything for them, maybe we can make this work. And you better believe Iâll be FaceTiming every chance I get.â
Jack pulled her close, reassuring her with a warm smile. âLook, as soon as Iâm done in Saudi Arabia, Iâm heading straight home. Iâll pick up the twins, and weâll all meet you in Paris.â
Her eyes lit up. âReally? Thatâs a lot of travelingâŠâ
He nodded, squeezing her hand. âYeah. I donât want you missing them that long, and I want us all together. Plus, the kidsâ first trip to Paris? Gotta make it a family thing.â
She laughed, her face softening. âYou really think of everything, donât you?â
âOnly when it comes to you and them.â He grinned. âItâs all planned outâweâll be cheering you on in the crowd while you blow everyone away with the anthem.â

As they loaded her bags into the car, Maryse held Noah and London close, her eyes welling up with tears as she kissed each of their heads. âI hate leaving them. Theyâre just so littleâŠâ
Jack gently grabbed the twins from her and handed them off to his parents, then put his arm around her, pulling her into his chest. âBabe, itâs only a couple of days. And theyâll be right there with you soon enoughâprobably before you even start to miss them.â
She sighed, leaning into him. âI already miss them. I just feel likeâŠlike I should be here.â
He stroked her back, keeping his voice soft. âYouâre doing amazing. Theyâre happy, theyâre healthy, and theyâve got everything they needâespecially with you as their mom.â He wiped a tear from her cheek, smiling. âAnd, youâre allowed to do something for you, too. Weâll be right behind you before you know it.â
She sniffled, nodding, and glanced back at the babies, who were both smiling and babbling away in his parents arms. âPromise?â
He chuckled. âPromise. Iâll see you in Paris with these little ones soon, and youâll rock that performance. We got you.â
With one last kiss to each of them and a deep breath, she climbed into the car, waving as she pulled away, her heart tuggingâbut feeling a little lighter.
As Maryseâs car disappeared down the road, Jack let out a sigh and turned to find his mom giving him a knowing, sympathetic look.
âSheâs been having a tough time,â he said, shifting Noah to his other arm as London reached for her brotherâs hand. âSheâs feeling all that mom guiltâŠlike she shouldnât be leaving, even for just a couple days.â
His mom smiled gently, resting a hand on his shoulder before reaching for Noah. âSheâs a wonderful mom, and itâs completely normal. But youâre right here, and she knows youâve got it handled.â She leaned down, softly brushing a hand over Noahâs head. âGive her some time. Itâll get easier.â
Jack nodded, feeling that bittersweet pride. âYeahâŠI just want her to know itâs okay for her to have her own time, too. She deserves it.â
Back inside the house, they went into the living room, London sitting on his lap, his mom studied him for a moment before speaking gently.
âHave you thought about suggesting she talk to someone?â she asked, tilting her head. âItâs not easy to admit, but I think she might be dealing with some postpartum depression.â
Jackâs jaw tightened slightly as he glanced down at London, who was playing with his necklace. âYeahâŠIâve thought about it. Sheâs been up and down, and I know sheâs struggling more than she lets on.â
His mom nodded thoughtfully. âItâs nothing to be ashamed of. A lot of women go through it. I think it could help her, even if itâs just having someone to talk to outside of you.â
Jack sighed, running a hand through his curls. âI know youâre right. I just donât want to make her feel worse by bringing it up.â
âYou wonât,â his mom assured him. âJust remind her how much you love her and that itâs about making sure she feels her best, not just for the babies but for herself too.â
He nodded, a look of determination crossing his face. âIâll bring it up when she gets back. She deserves to feel okayâŠbetter than okay.â
âAnd you deserve some credit too,â his mom added with a warm smile. âYouâre doing a great job, Jack. Sheâs lucky to have you.â
Jack smiled faintly, bouncing London slightly. âWeâre all lucky to have her, too.â
***
In his dressing room, Jack paced back and forth, his phone pressed to his ear. It had become a mini ritual of his to call Maryse before every show, even more so now that they were apart. He glanced at the clock. Luckily, Paris was only a couple of hours behind Saudi, so it wasnât too late to call.
After a few rings, her familiar voice came through. âHey, babe.â
âHey,â he said, a smile tugging at his lips. Just hearing her voice eased some of the tension in his chest. âWhatâre you doing?â
âTrying to figure out how to navigate the room service menu in French,â she joked. âI think I accidentally ordered snails earlier.â
He laughed, adjusting the chain around his neck. âSnails, huh? Fancy now.â
âDonât start,â she teased, but he could hear the smile in her voice. âHowâs it going over there?â
âGetting ready for my second show,â he said, sitting down on the edge of the couch. âYou know I canât go on stage without hearing your voice first. Itâs my good luck charm.â
âCheesy,â she said softly. âBut you donât need luck. Youâre going to kill it, like always.â
He leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. âYeah, but itâs different when youâre not here. I miss you. I miss the kids.â
âI miss you too,â she said. âBut just think, after this, weâre all going to be in Paris together. Youâve got one more show, then youâre home to grab the twins and come meet me.â
Canât wait,â he said sincerely. Then, after a pause, he added, âYou good, though? For real?â
There was a slight hesitation before she answered. âIâm okay. I still hate being away from them, but Iâm managing.â
He nodded, even though she couldnât see him. âYouâre doing amazing, you know that? Donât be too hard on yourself. The kids are fine, and you deserve to have moments for you too.â
âThanks,â she said softly. âYou always know what to say.â
âOf course I do,â he teased.
Jack leaned back on the couch, phone to his ear, grinning. âSo, howâs Paris? Are they treating you like the star you are?â
Maryse chuckled. âItâs been good. Oh! When I got to my hotel room, they had an Eiffel Tower made out of macarons waiting for me. It was so cute!â
âMacarons, huh? They know how to spoil you,â he teased, shaking his head. âWhat else? Did they roll out a red carpet to your room too?â
âNot quite,â she said with a laugh. âBut rehearsals were good. AndâŠTom Cruise sent me flowers.â Jack could hear the smile in her tone.Â
He sat up straighter, his eyebrows raising. âWait, wait, hold up. Tom Cruise sent you flowers?â He exaggerated her tone, mimicking her emphasis. âLike, âOh, Tom Cruise, action star, Mission Impossible, Mr. Hollywoodâ?â
Maryse burst out laughing. âStop it! Thatâs not how I said it!â
âNo, no, you said it like, âOh, Tom Cruise,â like heâs the one that got away or something,â he teased, shaking his head dramatically.
âWhatever,â she said, trying to suppress her giggles. âHe was just being nice.â
âNice?â Jack smirked. âLooks like I got some competitionââ
âOh my gosh, youâre ridiculous,â she said, still laughing.
âAnd youâre over there fangirling,â he shot back playfully. âBet you saved the card, didnât you?â
She gasped in mock offense. âI did not!â
âMm-hmm,â he teased.
âJack, you donât even need to worry, youâre the only white guy I'll ever love.â
Jack froze mid-laugh, his face breaking into a wide grin. âWait, what did you just say?â
Maryse, barely holding back her laughter, repeated with a playful tone, âI said you donât need to worry because youâre the only white guy Iâll ever love.â
He leaned back, pretending to look offended. âOh, so Iâm just the token white guy now, huh? Is that what this is?â
She burst out laughing. âIâm just saying, Tom Cruise has nothing on you.â
âDamn right he doesnât,â Jack shot back, smirking. âI mean, he could never rock a curly mullet?Â
âExactly,â she teased. âYouâre safe.â
âSafe?â he repeated, pretending to be wounded. âThatâs not the kind of reassurance I want! I want to hear Iâm your one and only forever.â
âOh no I think my phone is breaking up!â Maryse started making noises into the phone.Â
âM!â Jack said laughingÂ
âLove you, Iâll be watching clips later!â Maryse said giggling before hanging up.â
Jack smiles when he immediately looked down at his phone when a text came through from Maryse.Â
âYouâre my forever.â
***
Jack stepped off the plane, his face showing every bit of the exhaustion he felt. Noah was squirming in his arms, while London fussed in Urbanâs. As they headed to the gate, Urban chuckled, âMan, I donât know how youâre still standing.â
âIâm not,â Jack replied, stifling a yawn. âThe only thing keeping me upright is the thought of getting to Maryse.â
They finally reached the luggage area, and Jack carefully placed Noah into the double stroller before Urban secured London next to him. The kids, already cranky from the long flight, began to whine.
âAlright, alright,â Jack murmured, crouching down to adjust Noahâs blanket and handing London her pacifier. âI know it wasnât the best flight, but we made it. Letâs not start a scene, huh?â
Urban shook his head, laughing softly. âBro, you really thought traveling with two six-month-olds was gonna be smooth?â
Jack groaned, running a hand through his messy hair. âI was hoping.â He glanced at the kids and sighed. âMan, I just canât wait to get to Maryse. Sheâs gonna fix all this.â
âYou mean youâre gonna hand them both to her and take a nap,â Urban teased.
âHonestly?â Jack said with a tired grin. âYouâre probably rightâ
They made their way to the car waiting to take them to Maryse hotel. As the driver loaded their luggage, Jack slumped into the backseat next to them, stealing a quick glance at his sleeping twins. â
âFinally,â he muttered under his breath, leaning his head back.
But as the car sped through the Paris streets, his exhaustion slowly shifted into excitement. He couldnât wait to see Maryseâs face when he walked through that doorâwith her babies in tow.
Halfway to the hotel, Jackâs phone buzzed with a text from CoCo, Maryseâs manager. His eyebrows furrowed as he read it:
CoCo: Hey, just a heads-upâMaryse is at rehearsals, but sheâs not really herself today. I think sheâs missing you and the babies. You might want to swing by and surprise her. I think itâd do her some good.
Jack sighed, glancing at Urban, who was busy trying to entertain Noah with silly faces.
âWhatâs up?â Urban asked, noticing the change in his expression.
âCoCo says Maryseâs not acting like herself. Thinks sheâs missing us,â Jack replied, looking back at the twins. âShe said we should stop by rehearsals to surprise her.â
Urban smirked. âMan, you know sheâs missing yâall. Sheâs been glued to those kids since they came out. Letâs do it.â
Jack leaned forward to the driver. âChange of plans. Can you take us to the venue instead of the hotel?â
âOf course,â the driver replied.
Noah started fussing again, and Jack handed him a bottle to keep him calm. âAlright, little man, weâre about to see Mama. No more tantrums, alright?â
London cooed from her seat, and Urban chuckled. âLondonâs the easy one. Noah? Thatâs your troublemaker right there.â
Jack shook his head with a tired smile. âThey both have their days. Double trouble.â
As they pulled up to the rehearsal venue, Jack took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the long trip fade at the thought of surprising Maryse. He unbuckled Noah, while Urban handled London, both of them now wide-eyed and curious about their new surroundings.
âAlright, kids,â he said as they approached the doors. âLetâs go make Mamaâs day.â
Maryse stood on stage, gripping the microphone tightly as she tried, once again, to hit the opening notes of the national anthem. A song she could normally perform in her sleep now felt like a mountain she couldnât climb. She kept messing upâwrong key, missed breath, or tripping over a word. Each mistake sent a wave of frustration crashing over her.
âAlright, thatâs enough for now,â she finally said, waving at the sound engineers. âI need five.â
She flopped down on the stage, her back hitting the floor with a dramatic thud. Throwing her arm over her face, she groaned quietly.
Why canât I get this right? The thought played on repeat in her mind. Between missing the twins, worrying about the performance, and dealing with the guilt of leaving her babies, everything felt heavier than usual.
Lost in her thoughts, she didnât notice the soft sound of footsteps approaching until she felt a sudden, tiny pressure on her stomach. Her eyes flew open, and there, on top of her, was a smaller version of JackâNoah.
âNoah!â she gasped, sitting up in shock as Noah leaned forward, his tiny face scrunched in determination as he planted the wettest, sloppiest kisses on her cheek.
She laughed, not even caring about the drool or the mess. Her arms wrapped around him instantly, holding him close as tears threatened to spill over.
âOh my god, Noah!â she whispered, covering his little face in kisses of her own.
When she sat up fully, still clutching Noah, her eyes lifted to see the rest of her heart standing just a few feet away. Jack stood there, holding London, whose chubby cheeks lit up with a grin as she reached out for her. Behind them was Urban, a diaper bag slung over his shoulder, grinning like a proud uncle.Â
âWhatâhowââ she stammered, standing up with Noah in her arms. âI thought I wasnât going to see you all till later tomorrow.â
âSurprise,â Jack said, his tired eyes softening as he handed London over.
Maryse took her daughter eagerly, pulling both babies close as she blinked back tears. âYou must be so exhausted!â
âYou were missing us, werenât you?â Jack asked, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips. âCoCo mightâve snitched.â
Maryse let out a watery laugh, holding her babies tightly. âYou have no idea how much I needed this.â
âWe do,â Jack said softly, stepping closer to wrap an arm around her waist. âAnd weâre here now. All of us.â
In that moment, everything else fadedâthe pressure, the stress, the guilt. She was with her family again, and that was all that mattered.
The hotel room was finally quiet, the chaos of the day melting away. Maryse lay on the bed with Noah and London sprawled on her chest, both in deep sleep for the first time all day. She gently rubbed their backs, her fingers tracing soothing circles as she stared off into space, lost in thought.
The bathroom door opened, and Jack walked out, his hair damp, a towel slung low around his waist. Maryseâs eyes flicked to him, and she couldnât help but bite her lip. Despite her exhaustion, a part of her couldnât deny how much she missed him, in every way.
Jack caught her staring and smirked as he sat on the edge of the bed. âYou good over there?â
âSure,â she replied, her voice low. âBut youâre gonna need to put on some clothes because Iâm already distracted.â
He laughed, shaking his head as he stood to grab a pair of pants. âFine, fine. Canât have you losing focus.â
Once dressed, he sat back down and leaned toward her, his expression soft but serious. âI wanted to talk to you about something.â
Maryseâs brow furrowed. âOkay⊠Whatâs up?â
He hesitated for a moment, his thumb brushing over the bedspread before he spoke. âHave you thought about maybeâŠtalking to someone? Like a therapist?â
Her body stiffened instantly, and her guard went up. âA therapist? For what?â
âFor you,â he said carefully. âI just⊠Iâve noticed how hard things have been for you lately. Youâve been overwhelmed, and with the twins, the performances, and everything else, I think it could help to talk to someone.â
Maryse gently placed the twins on the bed so that she could sit up. âI donât need a therapist. Thereâs nothing wrong with me.â
Jack sighed, his voice calm and patient. âI didnât say there was anything wrong with you. But youâve been through a lot, babe. Pregnancy, postpartum, leaving the kids for the first timeâitâs a lot. Youâve been carrying it all, and I donât want you to feel like you have to do that alone.â
Her eyes softened, but she still shook her head. âIâm fine. Iâm just tired, thatâs all.â
âYouâre not fine,â he said gently, reaching over to place his hand on hers. âAnd thatâs okay. It doesnât mean youâre not strong, and it doesnât mean youâre a bad mom. It just means youâre human. I just want you to be okayâfor yourself, for me, and for them.â He glanced down at the sleeping twins, his voice laced with emotion.
When she stayed quiet, he continued. âYou never really talked to anyone after the stalker broke into our apartment either. You just kept going like it didnât shake you, but I know it did. Youâre carrying all of this stuff, and I just donât want it to get heavier.â
Maryseâs defenses crumbled slightly, her fingers brushing over Noahâs hair. âYou really think I need to talk to someone?â
âI think it could help,â he said honestly. âYou donât have to decide now, but just think about it, alright? For me?â
She nodded reluctantly, her voice softer now. âOkay⊠Iâll think about it.â
âThatâs all Iâm asking,â Jack said, leaning in to kiss her forehead.
Backstage at the closing ceremony, the air buzzed with energy as Maryse prepared to step into the spotlight. Jack sat in the corner, gently rocking the stroller back and forth, his eyes locked on her. Urban snapped candid shots of her as she adjusted her all-white suit, brushing a hand nervously through her hair. Jack could tell from her small, fidgety movements that she was feeling the weight of the moment, but he also couldnât stop marveling at how breathtaking she looked.
The crisp white suit fit her perfectly, exuding elegance and power. It reminded him of a future heâd been quietly dreaming about: her walking toward him in a different white outfit, down an aisle, with the same mixture of nerves and confidence.
She turned toward him, crossing the room to check on the babies. Her lips found Noahâs forehead, then Londonâs, as she murmured a few soft words to each of them. When her eyes finally met Jackâs, she noticed the way he was watching herâintense, unblinking, and full of admiration.
âWhat?â she asked softly, a nervous laugh slipping out as she straightened her suit jacket.
âYouâre just⊠so beautiful,â he said simply, his voice low and steady.
Her cheeks flushed, and she ducked her head, fiddling with the buttons on her cuff. âStop staring at me like that.â
He smirked, leaning back in his chair. âWhy? I like making you nervous.â
She gave him a look, but the corners of her mouth twitched upward. âYouâre impossible.â
âAnd youâre perfect,â he countered smoothly.
She rolled her eyes but couldnât suppress the smile that followed. âIâll be back in a bit,â she said, brushing a hand over Noahâs tiny fist before walking toward the stage entrance.
As she disappeared from view, Jack chest swelled with pride and love. She mightâve been nervous, but to him, she looked every bit like the star she was born to be.
