Greetings Gentles,

I'm Harlequin Curio, Producer of Fairy Tale Cabaret, a multi-media event celebrating folklore through art and live performance. I'm crowdfunding to take our third installation to the next level of a Summer Block Buster!

Folklore and Art are both crucial parts of culture; both are timeless and ever-evolving, showing us where we've come from, where we're at and where we're going. Fairy Tales were told in taverns and salons by adults to pass the time and make socio-political points disguised as whimsical tales. Eventually, they became tales we tell to children to entertain and guide them through life. At Fairy Tale Cabaret, we have celebrated fairy tales with a film short based on Claude Cahun's Cinderella, sculptures of fantastic creatures from El Salvador like El Cipitito, Punk music inspired by the Celtic Morrigan and Burlesque acts featuring Harpies and Mermaids!

Art Exhibitions of artists both local and from the east coast!

Fairy Tale Cabaret: Midsummer Dreams will be a Surrealist Summer Blockbuster show with a live band, artists exhibiting surrealist works, magic, a tarot reader, burlesque, film screenings and performances based on fairy tales and surrealist fantasy!

But this event will only happen if I meet my entire goal of $2,500 to pay for the venue, crew, performers, and prints for commemorative zine & stickers.

Risks and challenges:

Creating a magical space for artists to share their work and talent is a lot of work. Everyone needs space and proper compensation for their efforts. The funding for this project will go into making sure that crew and performers are paid as well as avoid having to charge artists a booth fee to display their creations.
