“National teacher shortage” is a fun way of saying that the USA has made a passion driven job so ungodly inhospitable that even people who “just care about teaching, not the money” don’t even care about teaching anymore.

i got into reading an academic paper about the most statistically beneficial time to pull the goalie in a hockey game because idk bored but it was a fun read and and the conclusion seems to be that coaches, at least of the time the paper was written, were actually too conservative and the best thing to do if a team is down by 2 is to pull the goalie with 6 minutes left. the headache i got just thinking about that. can you imagine. thank god none of these coaches can read bc everyone's collective sanity would NOT survive that
