The ghosts of poets

Old and young

Invade our house

Every single day.

They sweep the floors

With pencils made of clay

And scrub away boredom

With clever wordplay.

They make no noise

But don't fear

They don't bring bad spirits,

Only bring good beer.

Don't tremble or flee

They aren't scary or mean

They just want to come over for the night And work on their poetry.

So grab a seat

Biohazard (A Serious Nonsense Poem) (9/12/22)

I.

Barely clothed lady 

Held by a fuzzy monster

Trudging together 

Across an endless ocean,

Sucking dry her glamour

From the depths of Saturn's legion.

The distant moon 

Shines an artificial hue

Attached to a string and a rainbow

Held by an underpaid worker 

High on booze,

Peeing all over the camera crew

On a diet of cocaine snow.

Bombs deploy from a miniature zeppelin

Sealing the fate 

Of the monster's unholy love

Born of cheap effects and ritual sin

In a last kiss 

Infected with drugs.

The set demolished 

To make way 

For a hive mind fungus

Enslaving gullible actors into mindless sex

Under the guise 

Of a lead role

All while spreading their cancer

To infect the rest.

Stoners reincarnated as moocher cats

Patrol grimey streets 

In search of smuggled catnip

Scattered around Los Angeles

Littered 

In lines of the desperate

Killing each of their 9 lives 

Just for a fix.

Children scribble crayon crustaceans 

Upon sidewalk canvases

Decorated in flattened roadkill

Who protest

Against art's endless droves of shills.

An old bearded hobo

Meditates atop a shopping cart,

All doped up 

And seeing stars

He smokes a cigar 

Between two fingers on fire;

Too high off desire

To even care.

The homeless lie crucified 

Upon streetlights,

Left to die huffing pollution

With bonzai fireworks 

Pointed at their heads

As all the citizens look away

From the spotlit damnation.

Children mourn the corpses

From their drug stained ghetto mattresses,

Pleading for release

From the rhythmic gods' judgement

But the siren wails

The wandering willows of the world

Without clothes or food

Basking in the blazing heat

Searching for another temporary home.

The nomad nobodies lurk around

Hollywood's disease ridden streets
