Coming back from the dead to do a lil celebratory post.
As some may know, I had an incident a few years back in the Layton fandom that was, to put it simply, not nice at all. It left me in a terrible mental state, where I was scared to even leave the house or answer the phone. I was 15.
Today marks 5 years since I last spoke to the person that was involved in said not-nice-incident.
Looking back, I am proud of how I’ve been able to heal and become stronger. It definitely has not been easy, and I have had to face some harsh truths, both about myself and about others that were around me. However, in doing that I have been able to discover more about myself and to learn from the past so it does not repeat in the future.
From that I was also able to work on accepting what had happened: in the beginning I constantly stressed over what I could have done differently, how I should’ve been in order to prevent certain situations, looking for ways I could have either gone back, or in the moment, stopped things from going the way they did.
But here’s the thing; it wasn’t worth it for me to keep focusing on what I could have done, as what is done is done. Things happened the way they did, and there is nothing I could have done or can do to change that. And that is ok.
Those events helped form me in to the person I am today, albeit not through a pleasant or easy to handle way. They don’t define me, though.
(NB: I know I am being slightly vague in my wording - I don’t want to trigger anyone reading, and also I don’t really want to think too much about all that happened.)
So, yeah. I did it. I made it out and I made it to the five year mark. And it feels … okay. Relieving. Like an achievement.
I feel like I won.

So, India is dying.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Tumblr media
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
Tumblr media
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
If you can, donate.
Or spread the word.
Help. Please.

Surreal scrolling through the Layton tag for like an hour before going downstairs to be greeted by your mom saying, “I have a riddle for you”. It feels like there’s an exclamation point and the screen pops up in real life
Puzzle 001
70/70 picarats
In Ethiopia there is a trail of tears where slaves were being marched across the desert. Their masters were giving them something along the way and that led to an indication of where the trail was that still exists today. What were the masters giving the slaves?
(Drop a hint coin in the replies if you want to solve it but are having trouble, I promise I have good hints ready)

Your inktobers are all really great! I showed my gf the Blodeuwodd legend one cuz we both like owls and I'd never heard of it before. The more u kno
Awww!!! Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the Blodeuwedd one especially - we have to study this film in my Welsh class and part of it revolves around the legend of Blodeuwedd (she basically cheated on and tried to kill her husband and her punishment was to be turned into an owl/Tylluan - lovely imo), and when the prompt was ‘Legend’, it was the first thing that sprung to mind. Thanks so much!!! 🥰🥰

Inktober day 31: Ripe!
Wow, another Inktober finished already! I’ll be honest, it was hard keeping up, especially as I was doing this and Laytontober. But I did have lots of fun, and was able to develop my style more (as well as work on anatomy!).
