mother is furious once again.
it was almost a comedy routine. their identities as mother and daughter shed as new ones came. saeron was no longer her daughter, she was merely a princess. her mother no longer held warmth, she held a crown to replace such presence. hence, the youngest wasn’t able to bear with the pressure as she scurries off the castle.
the servants knew to not bother the princess as stopping her in her heap was a mistake. the female gets greeted by the wind as it makes her cheeks flush in a shade of red. her gaze flickers upwards as it was a habit to stare at the stars when anger invades her. in her brash nature, her arms reach the bark as she climbs in the hopes the servants don’t get her.
for a few moments, silence eludes in the air followed by the crickets crawling in the grass. but, such serenity is disturbed once saeron hears a male voice resonate in the atmosphere. she attempts to remain silent but the man below already caught her.
“if you weren’t, you wouldn’t disturb a lady in her free time with such comments.” she replies back mockingly, her tone resembling her mother’s. yet, such solemn attitude doesn’t remain long as saeron can’t help but chuckle at his last statement.
“but, talk about cynical man! it’s not all about the view! it’s about how certain spot can make you feel.” she jests, her tone cheerier than previously. “have you tried looking the stars from here? their beauty seems more tangible from here. almost as if you can take one.”
stars ;
( @haesaeron )
The moon illuminated Joseon in a pale, cold light, unobstructed by clouds. Clusters of bright stars dotted the dark blue canvas, each one as clearly seen as the next. Seongjin considered himself a bit of a dreamer and wondered how many there were - how many he could not yet see. The memory of him as a child, arms outstretched, short fingers grabbing for something he could never fathom of touching. The irony was that he perhaps still thought reaching them was a feasible achievement.
To his left, a tree rustled, its extremities visibly trembling. Peculiar, he thought, as the air was still, silent save for the faint lulling of crickets and his footsteps against the uneven stone path beneath him. Then he took a step forward, determined to satisfy his gnawing curiosity.
He pressed his palm against the rough bark, gazing up. In the dim lighting, he could barely make out the outline of a person appearing short in stature, skirts billowing over the thick branches. “So there’s someone up there,” he called out. “Not meaning to so outright offend a lady, but you don’t make a particularly convincing … tree dwelling creature,” Seongjin drummed his fingers against the trunk.
“If you wanted to gaze up at the stars, they look all the same from the ground.” Nevermind why a young girl was perched in a tree at such a late hour, let alone in one so close in proximity to the palace. Ah, but that was none of his business, was it?

belle.
@dalahreum!
she heard everything about women.
she heard how vicious they were. she heard how malicious they were. she heard how women were the ones who craved power. which, saeron wanted to refuse the statement but couldn’t. after all, she was proven correctly when she saw her own mother.
she saw it right now as she waltzed in the store where silks were stacked. the silks radiated with vibrance as they brought life to the small store. the atmosphere masked as jovial by how various women gathered together. their chatter painted with tones of delight. yet, the female felt trapped as reality settled upon her. this atmosphere was nowhere near kind, it was rather suffocating.
competition strings their actions as saeron walked farther from the crowd before bumping into someone. despite her first reaction was to retaliate with hostility, she refrained from such as her visage encountered the other. her memory jumbled names as the female’s face remained familiar but unrecognized.
yet, the more she saw her face, the more saeron felt suffocated. the latter reminded her of the crowd she tried to evade. this girl probably desired the throne as everyone on their vicinity. so, it didn’t matter if she didn’t know her name now. saeron would learn it if the other triumphed.
“ah. sorry, miss.” the princess voices out with foreign politeness, her fingers clutched into her skirt as she takes some steps back. “rather lovely colour you have there.”

❝ What did you see? ❞

saeron was merely bored.
there was nothing amusing in her surroundings. the vicinity comprised of people who lied often to each other. whenever it was their smiles or their coy actions, everything was a lie. hence, the female usually shied her sight from those repetitive scenes. yet, this time, even the youngest of the castle couldn’t help but see.
the people who waltzed across the halls with different purposes. one of them who caught her eye were a few affairs happening in the room. young women linking fingers with men who smiled with intoxication. but, the surprise came in the form when their respective couples strayed from the scene. even when their eyes lingered longer than they intended, everyone knew what they did.
saeron is surprised with her half-sister’s sudden question. her hands that were clutched release the fabric. at the ambiguity of the inquiry, the younger took advantage to feign innocence towards it.
“what do you mean, beloved sister? i was merely staring at some birds outside. i thought they were lovers but, alas. results, they had other partners.” she jests happily, her attention already pivoting to the main couple of the night. “funny how appearances lie all the time.”

❝ Were you following me? ❞
meme: royal wedding prompt.status: closed.
saeron believed only her siblings would be crest-fallen. after all, the wedding affected those who were close the pair. with the exceptions of her father and her mother, everyone felt heartbroken. said emotion displayed in their actions as they expressed a tender gesture to the woman. yet, it seemed there was someone else who was easily as affected as the rest of them. in saeron’s humble opinion, she would believe the male was more heartbroken than they were. after all, he seemed unresponsive as alcohol drained all the reasoning behind the event. he looked like he lost all the composure that held him together by the wine offered in every corner.
her fingers linger in one of the cups filled with the substance, she takes a sip as a small hum escapes. ah, so that was how it felt. with the said emotion understood, saeron left the cup for a water. her head peeked from the multitude as people passing by expected some greetings from her. as she attempted to comply them all, her feet were already stumbling against others to reach the male quicker.
it seems that the young man already knew what she was up to as he turned to ask her. her cheeks flared with embarassment to be caught so early when she overvalued her skills of being sly. yet, there was no can do as she lets her flesh return to its state as she extends the cup to the other.
“well sir. saying no would make be look foolish. so, yes. i was. but, it’s only because you need something to quiet down your spirit. they say a cup of water usually does the trick as the king says.” she can only rehearse from what she knows her father says when he is overly drunk.

❝ Everyone looks so awfully resigned. ❞
meme: royal wedding prompt.status: closed.
his comment is no news. after all, everyone represents it. they were solemn faces scattered all over the place. their spines straight enough to carry the lie about the wedding. how it’s an event that brought two people together for the sake of love. after all, in the world where luxury bears normality, lying wasn’t exactly a bad thing. yet, sometimes even a lie can’t triumph when dejection strikes down their straight spines.
the princess represents one of the few who keep feigning the innocence about not knowing. the child who followed orders with blind eyes even when her voice didn’t dim in the slightest. hence, his statement makes her chuckle slightly. she nods in agreement with the older male.
“did you expect any less, lord nam?” she questions, her tone laced with courtesy she never mastered. before her inquiry is taken too seriously, saeron adds an laughter that drifts longer than she intended.
“well, you shouldn’t. after all, this is a wedding. an event where everyone wears happiness. even if sadness lingers, do us the favor to brighten up. we don’t want anymore sadness, right?” the little tilt on her tone returns, the vehemence of her voice comes in force at last as saeron didn’t want to hear it longer for the sake of her wrecked sister.

❝ Would they come to love each other, you think? ❞
meme: royal wedding prompt.status: closed.
she didn’t expect him to have the standard, naive thought. it may be wrong of her judgement to perceive such when her interaction with him is scarce. yet, saeron wondered where such idealization came to his mind. after all, most nobles have agreed with the idea about marriage being difficult. whereas love wasn’t the exact goal as it came in the form of luck down the road. most adults were already preparing her to take such path with a clenched jaw. yet, there was the crown prince of their nation asking her about an ideal of love. did woon held someone dear enough to wish for that?
her expression reflected the amusement that bubbled inside her. her eyebrows woven together. but, it fades to an chirper one once she processed his thoughts well enough to respond correspondly.
“maybe,” she answers first, the first word being a wish for the pairing in front of the pair. “there may be a day where they will stop hurting their bruised feelings and accept each other. yet, that would go against all the sorrows they are facing.” saeron rambles slips a bit. “i wonder if they would let that sorrow go away so easily by letting those emotions be replaced.”
an brighter expression returns to her previous drowsed one. “how about you? do you believe those two will ever fall in love?”

❝ You didn’t have to do that. ❞
meme: royal wedding prompt.status: accepting.
in that current moment, saeron felt she was staring someone else. the usual warmth portrayed in her sister’s persona was no longer standing in front of her. there was simply a hollow woman who was drowning in her own misery. the streaks of tears smudged down the pretty face that no longer beamed.
in that moment, she acknowledged that miyoung looked ethereal. she was flushed to resemble a flower who bloomed in the adversity of the lavish. yet, saeron only sensed her as an ephemeral being who would fly away soon. despite their fingers were laced against each other, the emotion of dread filtered her. because she knew, she knew the young spirit of the woman vanished with the announcement.
her fingers were wrapped around the small box of gold earnings. despite in most situations they were meant to flaunt luxury, saeron bought them with an pure intend. even though her features contorted to mimic the other’s sadness, the younger retained a happier look. her cheeks flushing with the make up as her lips were curved into an effervescent grin.
“talk about modest, it’s an event that requires me to give you a gift!” she chirps as she hands it to the other. saeron presses down the box into miyoung’s palms. hoping this could let her mood lift up, even if the effect lasted for a second. “you know, we are not full sisters. but, i consider you as a full one. so, accept this small token of my appreciation.”

❝ One of these days it’ll be your turn. ❞
meme: royal wedding prompt.status: accepting.
her words sounded like their mother’s.
she knew both of them sounded the same because they went through the same situation. despite her advocation against the motion of marriage, she remained silent tonight. because she could see it once again, the older’s words reminded saeron of the other’s marriage. her hands clasped against a man who are married with a compromise. a compromise of power and future without any taste of love behind. saeron wonders if how she will look in the same scenario.
she simply lets out laughter erupt as her first response, the sound drifting on their vicinity.
“you are right, beloved sister.” her tone doesn’t reflect the tone of her previous action. instead, there’s simply a tone of solemn lingering on every word. “i wonder if i will look as pristine, as deranged,” the younger of the two starts off before gulping her last thoughts and adds quickly, “and beautiful as miyoung unnie.”

the prey,
saeron is stupid.
she knows that very well. the thought itself carries itself in her spine. she wears it as an iron-forged armor. the armor depicting itself in the form of a laugh. a laughter that bubbles in the instance. it resonates in the fields to resemble the ever-growing flowers. she consumes her title as her glory and keeps it safe. it festers in her mind every once in awhile where the moon reminds her it’s late. it resonates on her ears, the rampant demon who tells her to give it up.
let the hunter bask in its glory, open the path to a secure life.
saeron is naive.
she knows that very well. she grasps the thought as her friend. her arms sway around it, embrace it as it etches in her skin. those patterns never left behind as they emit through her actions. arms raised to protest against the king’s desires. feet struck to the ground where it’s unwilling to shake at power. her will intact as it refuses to grow soft for the sake of others’. it manifests in her mind at the times, how does it feel to be so naive. yet, the thought reminds her it’s okay because oh darling, people like you were destined to be buried with their ever-insignificant impact. after all, what makes the prey fun to be around when it speaks back?
let the hunter bask in its glory, let the people know they are right.
saeron is tired.
she knows that very well. she drowns that thought in the core of her soul. even though, it comes back in the form of figures who tear her dreams apart. the impugned scent of perfume brushes against her lungs, reminding her of a nearby future. the tightly pressed clothing pushes her spine downwards where acceptance awaits her with open arms.her rampant demon comes in the form of love that curdles the emotion of self-hatred. after all, she gets to accept society once she lets her act of self-defiance falter. it breaks and tears once self-hatred bears down her. after all, some demons are meant to win. because only justice gets to be delivered till the lion knows how to write.
but, it must not meant to be in her story.
because the hunter is already getting glorified for tearing another naive, stupid, tired mind.
