This grrrl is stronnnng @gabigrl This is literally the heaviest thing I’ve ever picked up... I even screamed at the top and anyone who knows me knows that is NOT my thing 😂😂😂 This felt THAT Heavy & my body still hurts 3 days later!!! Back in March this year (remember then?) we had an idea to create our version of the Mulan trailer to reinforce that yesterday's expectations of us were just that - yesterday's. The idea that half of the world's population need to play some kind of weaker submissive role expected to be quiet and know our place. Yes, we repect, honor and cherish the gentler, kinder, nurturing, loving aspects of ourselves and nature. But we get to define who we are as individuals and a collective, not society. We've also wanted to challenge and reclaim the language that was stolen from us and used against us. That somehow doing something like a girl was doing things less well or less powerfully. That's clearly an idea that has no value and we are all taking back our words and language and reclaiming. It makes us so proud to see your posts every day, to see your words and actions reclaiming our power. That doing things like a grrrl is doing them with strength and purpose, power and freedom. That we are unlimited and undefined by society's words and limits. But, then, covid. So instead of armies and great walls we have one grrrl and one camera in a park. We’ve been conditioned to believe that beauty equates to a thin, toned, tall, hair-free white woman with flawless skin and a symmetrical face. And anything less than is not worthy. Because *that* woman will attract the partner of our dreams, will be loved and successful and happy, right? ⁣ @alexlight_ldn ⁣ Wrong. So, so wrong.
