i keep thinking about this. except in this universe chappell (babitz) actually gains notoriety and the success she deserves. i think eve would have as many complications, maybe even moreso, if she achieved didion level fame in her time. its kind of volatile to say but posthumous notoriety suits her. she was a contrarian and an enigma. and anything but traditional.
