profwilliams:
There were people Williams could expect coming into his office. Most commonly, it was a student. Sometimes, a teacher. But a majority of the time, that was it. He had no way to expect a woman he had only seen in passing before.
So he sucked in a breath and gathered himself, suddenly self-aware. He could explain his kurtness to a colleague, they would understand immediately. But not to a practical stranger. That was just rude.
“ Apologies. You’re not in trouble, I’m simply used to my students needing to interrupt my post-hours night, ” His voice quieted, trying to explain away how rude he was. Oh. There was also a cat.
He reached up and let the cat sniff his finger, ready to give affection.
“ Professor Williams. Is this darling yours? ”
Grace’s smile looked a little uncomfortable when the man asked her about this cat. Did she really have to tell him how she ended up here? Grace couldn’t stop thinking about how much of a stereotype this man was, he didn’t only look like a professor he even sounded like one.
“I’m not sure if she’s mine. I followed her like a drunk Alice in fucking Wonderland and here I am. “ she said almost hitting herself for using such a language in front of a professor.
“I’m not drunk. “ she said “yet”.
The brunette looked at the cat and gave it a little pet on the head. “ I guess I’ll keep it. It’s cute and I don’t often find things cute. Besides it’s black so it fits my soul. “

@itsxanderfyfe: what's with this town and people finding cats randomly at every street corner?
@grace-rosenburg: what i'm not the only one? Is there like a creepy cat epidemic that I don't know about? Should I throw the cat out?

“I guess I’m okay with it.” She shrugged, her voice low. “You don’t give yourself enough credit though, Grace. You always look good.” She pointed out, shifting a little in her chair. “I mean, you’re sure it looks good? I know I’ll get used to it eventually. But.. Maybe it’s a good thing, right? I needed to do it, and now it might actually give me and my sister some room to become our own people. Being a twin makes that hard sometimes.”
“ Thanks for the compliment. “ grace didn’t know what else to say, it was hard for her to accept compliments about her looks, even though Grace did like the way she looked, it was just uncomfortable accepting the compliments. “ It looks good. Trust me. Exactly, I imagine that it’s hard living with a twin. I hate having two sisters who look a lot like me and we’re a few years apart from each other. “

grace looked at the young woman and raised an eyebrow. “ I guess it’s different. I mean I don’t know anything about fashion and all that so you must have a reason for this drastic change of look. I like it though! But don’t listen to my opinion, I haven’t changed my wardrobe, hair or make-up in like fifteen years. You’re the only person in the world that needs to be happy with what you did to your own body. Are you? “
“Before I explain myself, can you at least give me your honest opinion? I literally chopped my hair, and I’ve never been anything but blonde. This is… weird for me, too.” Sabrina rambled, an obvious sign that something was wrong. After all, how often did women make such drastic beauty decisions without reason for it?

grace was wandering the streets of Derry when she noticed a small kitten sitting next to a tree, the woman hated animals that looked this cute but the urge was too strong and she decided to go check the animal out anyway. “ hi there. “ she said with a soft voice, the woman looked around to make sure no one heard her talk like this.
“I’m Grace, I’m lonely most of the time. I’m not sure if I want a pet but- you’re kinda cute. And you’re black so maybe we can be-- “ the animal smelled her finger and started walking away, grace followed it into a building, the woman didn’t realize she walking into Derry College, her only focus was the black cat.
She picked up the cat and turned around when she noticed a door opening. “ O- I mean I don’t want to see you after class tomorrow because I’m well- not a student. I just impulsively followed a small cat into the building and now I’m here. “ she smiled a little uncomfortable. “ Why are you looking at me like I’m in trouble? “

Williams eyed the clock hanging besides his bookshelves. In his office, he felt an anxious safe-haven, which was alright sometimes… but when it was 4:29pm, it was time for it to let him go. He mulled over what he planned to do for the night, finding the only exciting things to be grading a couple papers and taking his nightly walk.
Freedom was so close, he could taste it. However, the taste stained his mouth as an immature blue, knowing that he was no better than his students counting the second hand slowly… slowly…
4:30pm. Time to close up. He stood, grabbed his items, and made his way to the door. The longer he spent here, the longer a student could assume his office hours were open. The longer a student assumed his office hours were open, the longer he would have to stay back to help them.
Nothing against… helping a student… of course…
But rules existed for a reason. That reason was how cool the metal of the doorknob felt on his hand as it turned open. That reason was the satisfying click of the door opening. He could feel the night air already-
But there was someone in his way.
Letting out a soft huff, he moved his hand to defensively clutch his briefcase and files.
“ Office hours are 2:00pm to 4:30pm. It is now 4:31pm, so I am no longer in Office hours,” His voice was kurt, not looking at the person at all. “ Please see me after class tomorrow or tomorrow afternoon. ”
“ Unless, ” He adds hesitantly.
“ It is an emergency. ”

grace walked home from her early shift at the bar, her hair was in a messy bun and between her fingers was an almost burned out cigarette. she noticed Jemma and grace let out a soft grin when the woman yelled at her. “ calm your tits Jem. It’s me- grace. You look a little paranoid. I can’t blame you though. “
Heading out the door and away from the gym, Jemma sauntered down the street with her bag slung over her shoulder. It was warm enough outside that she didn’t feel like she had to change back into her street clothes, so a t-shirt and yoga pants it was that she sported while walking home. It was nearly dark, so she held her keys in her hand, her house key between two fingers as she walked. Spooked by a sound, she turned quickly. “Don’t come any closer,” she warned.

emilywillicms:
“no, i’m not from around here,” emily supplied, carefully watching for what little clues the mask allowed. part of her didn’t doubt for one second that grace was perfectly capable of recognising her, the other part… was several drinks past having any fucks to give. whether there was or wasn’t a shared understanding between them or whether grace simply didn’t care, emily was more than fine with the idea of supposed anonymity. “no names it is then. —but you look like you could use a refill. allow me to get you a drink?”
grace gave the woman a quick nod with her head. “ of course, but watch out. I know a lot about drinks and I only like the real good stuff. “ the woman didn’t want to go too far with giving clues, even though she knew that Emily knew, but playing it on the edge was interesting and fun. “ I’ll wait here. Promise. “

“okay, i know there’s enough girls here who like girls, but the question is, would they pay for it? that’s the real kicker.” noelle smiled. “listen, everyone’s time table is different. sure, maybe you won’t be able to have biological kids, but adoption is a thing, it’s never too late to find a wife, and i’ve heard of sixty year olds gardening.” noelle paused, thinking for a minute, “are you actually trying to find someone to settle down with?”
“ I don’t know. I don’t think so- I’m not good at keeping relationships or making them last. Maybe I’m just not meant to be a wife. “ grace shrugged trying to avoid the conversation again. “So how are you? I know I haven’t been around that much. I’m sorry for it. “

“Parents can do that to a person,” Fallon mused, but cocked her head slightly at Grace’s offer, laughing a little. “Don’t worry; drugs aren’t really my thing. I’ve seen enough. A drink, however - I’d be a fool to turn that down.”
“ I’ll bring you a surprise okay? “ grace had this kind of talent of telling what drinks people liked, was it her experience as a bartender or maybe she was just extremely good at reading people. The brunette came back with two cocktails in her hand. “It’s a special mix I made up- but o my god it’s good. Try it. “

“well, let’s hope you don’t predict the future anyways. not like that. i’m hoping tonight goes as normal as normal can be for derry.” liam replied as he took another sip of the drink in his hand. “so far but the night’s still young, huh?” he paused, swirling the liquid around in his cup. “i think it’s fun, yes. do you?”
“depends, i like it here but i’m also trying to figure out how long i should stay. i’m not good with social events but sometimes i do enjoy them yes. somehow everything seems more interesting with a mask on. “ the woman licked her lips a few times before she talked again. “ now I know why all those superheroes on television look so fucking confident. “

lyrajean:
Lyra watched with a keen eye as Grace moved through the crowd, a playful smile on her lips. Every few minutes, she’d push herself further against the wall to let someone side-step her, only losing her companion for a few seconds at a time before her eyes found her once more. But as Grace made her way back, Lyra’s smile turned into a wide grin and she reached out to take her face, pressing a large, sloppy kiss to her cheek. “You are a godsend to my life,” she teased, reaching to take one of the glasses.
grace filled both of their glasses and winked. “ I know. I get that a lot. “ she laughed, knowing that the person behind the mask didn’t know who she was made everything a little bit more comfortable. Grace wasn’t always this confident. “ Cheers, to this evening and cheers to the moon. “ the woman’s brain was already a little affected by the alcohol. “ Because why not. Right? “

tatumfoley:
Tatum had always been too girly for her own good, so things like this were right up her alley. “I’m sure you hear it plenty enough.” She countered, a smirk on her lips. “I mean, they wouldn’t be wrong. Though, personally? I think a person’s eyes usually do the trick for me. Or their smile.” She’d always been more of a romantic than she wanted to let on. Things like physical traits were hardly went unnoticed, but she had equated beauty with attractiveness long ago, noticing things like painted nails on slim fingers or long lashes before taking notice of somebody’s breasts. That didn’t mean she knew how to flirt, though.
grace nodded in agreement “right. I love observing people’s eyes. it’s like looking right into the soul. “ the woman turned her head to the woman once more. “ but I’m secretly also a fan of hips and boobs. “
