We've started a new City of Mist game, and currently the PCs are:
A shockingly middle class coffee-addicted lawyer
A redditor who sleeps in a dog bed
A theater kid who is easily foiled by moral lessons
And I can't wait to see where this goes.

Navarr: The Druj! So glad you could make it. We were just about to play Twister. It involves me twisting your neck until it snaps.
Navarr: We were also going to play Snap.
Navarr: It has similar rules.

So ... I started this in April. And worked on it a bit, and then next picked it up at Christmas. But it's done! My LARP group, Hearthfire Hall. Closeups and character details under the cut!
Tumblr media
Isolde Hannasdottir, Tempest Shield, Night Bringer. She is the one who started the whole thing, seeing the refugees (of which she was one) sheltering however they could and realising they needed two things: a place to stay to survive the harsh Wintermark winter, and purpose. She found the land, got the resources however she could, and rallied anyone who could help to build a brand new hall, who would take in anyone who needed it. She's now their Thane and leader, although often doesn't feel she's a good one, as she's not bold or commanding as many others are. The rest of the hall, however, follows her very happily, as she's got the perfect leadership skillset for them. A skilled healer and one of the best crafter Runesmiths in Wintermark.
Tumblr media
Ida the River. She was in the same group as Isolde when they were forced out of their home by war, and followed Isolde south to give what help she could to people as a healer. She has backed Isolde up every step of the way forming Hearthfire, and now serves as its Grimnir and runs its hospital with the help of a large bevy of apprentices. She and Isolde don't always agree, but they have a very reliable working relationship and the easy intimacy of people who have lived and worked together for years. They might have different oppinions but they're pushing in the same direction. She's an extremely skilled healer, sworn to the craft, and now a Priest of the Way, too, to offer spiritail aid and guidance to those who need it and a refuge has lots of them). (Ida is also my character!)
Tumblr media
Unnr. He's joined the hall with Tulli a few years ago, wanting to help their mission of helping people. He's a skilled midwife and an even more skilled merchant and dedicant of Prosperity. He's the hall Alderman and in charge of resources, a job he's far better at than anyone else around. He and Ida frequently clash on the right way to grow healing herbs, the right way to organise the hsopital and the best way to go about doing things. Despite both being loud, forceful people with loud, forceful opinions, much to the chagrin of the rest of the hall, they do both respect each other. He's also trying to woo Tulli, although nobody is sure if either of them have noticed yet. He keeps birds. The only one her with no priest training.
Tumblr media
Tulli. She joined at the same time as Unnr, having stopped in the hall over winter and liking what she found there. A sometimes mysterious and often aloof presence, she is a Stormcrow and Priest of Wisdom, and does her best to guide the hall on those precepts. Often tries to mediate Ida and Unnr's argument's, generally to the detriment of all involved. She has the ambition to attain a high rank in the Imperial Synod, thinking the current leader of the Wisdom Assembly isn't up to much. Has certainly yet to notice Unnr's interest in her. The only one here with no ability to heal.
Tumblr media
Eldrid. The most martial of the group and who only joined this year, she is Champion of Ambition, a formidable warrior and battlefield healer. She seeks to inspire others to ambition by example, and can be found encouraging people to pursue ambitions both great and small. A woman of action, she admires Isolde's ambition with Hearthfire and wants to help and support that.

The Neighborhood Watch s4 ep4: The Best Laid Plans...
[Summary: The Main Cast devises a plan to defeat Douglas Baxter.] @gr3y-plays-ttrpgs ___________
In Emmet's house on the edge of town, the Main Cast has a discussion on how to defeat Baxter as Emmet looks at the object John gave him in the basement. Bob Patterson is tending to the camera girl we found earlier in a different room.
The Main Cast theorize maybe they can get Entity X to crystalize the leylines under town- like how Song's mother was trying to do, just on a much smaller scale- so they can properly leave Greenville and perhaps have an advantage over Baxter.
Markus asks X if it knows anything about the leylines; it doesn't know much, but Baxter said it was supposed to be there with the lines. Song joins in on the telepathic chat, introducing herself to Entity X.
Upon being asked X explains it gains new abilities after eating things, and Song relays this to the group. She also gets a chance to pet Entity X. Song rolls to see if its ability to crystalize leylines depends on its form, aka if its more centipede or ant or what- with her roll she determines that's not the case, and that perhaps typical food is not the only thing it can eat; maybe it can also eat the magic of the leylines and quickly crystalize it that way.
We also don't need to directly head down to the leylines, either- Everything in Greenville's been affected by leylines; but there's a lot of magic in things around here, and who knows what will happen if you just eat a random berry bush. [I suggest the idea of John offering to have his flesh eaten by the Entity, as he's a lifelong resident of the town and would probably have the most leyline energy out of everyone here- I am immediately vetoed by all the other players.]
The Cast wonders if the town's water would have sufficient enough leyline magic; Markus goes to get a glass of water. Meanwhile on the train of though of X eating part of his body, John connects the dots that at some point Douglas Baxter must have had X eat from him to result in X's telepathy. He relates this to the Song and Louis, who state that that's even more reason to not let X take a bite out of his arm. Markus returns and we find the water doesn't really do anything save for making X a bit more translucent.
Regardless, the Cast still needs to get Baxter away from the leylines; Emmet enters the room, telling them Bob's heading out and also tells them about the item he was observing- he asks where John found it and he's just like "a box with no return address, sorry." Anyway Markus decides to show him Entity X. Emmet's intrigued and Markus tells him it's from Mars, and Baxter plans to drain the leylines with it, so we kinda need to get X home. Song mentions X is the best bait we've got to lure Baxter to us.
On the mention of it being an alien, Emmet brings out newspaper clipping with a headline stating a meteorite crashed near town recently. A photo on the paper shows a crowd around it; Baxter is singled out with a red circle drawn around him. Entity X confirms this meteor crash is how it got here.
(Song finally asks Entity X if it has a name; it doesn't, so Markus hereby names it Jimmy Jr.) Song explains to Jimmy Jr our plan to lure Baxter, but it rejects her idea of having to call out to him telepathically as a lure, since it's scared of him. It is willing to just check what he's doing though and mentions that Baxter is gathering people to look for it, as well as the Cast.
Since the X Lure idea is a bust our next idea is to have Emmet call his brother and say he found a creature more up Baxter's alley to lure him over- Emmet hesitates on this but eventually agrees.
----
Now the Cast has a plan to lure Baxter over, now we need a plan to kill him- which might be difficult given he's a very powerful telepath; earlier he had made the Cast feel nauseous without any effort, by merely just taking off his bowler hat. Emmet seems to have a reaction to this and leads us down into the basement. He goes through his design papers until he shows us one that he created- a bowler hat that can suppress telepathic abilities with a little electric chip.
Emmet realizes his brother had stolen his design and erased his memory of it and how to make it; he's been unable to replicate it or any sort of suppressor ever since. However, he lets us know that it also helps Baxter, as his telepathic abilities can overwhelm him without it and he can only go without the hat for so long. Emmet can build an EMP within an hour to shut it down.
Markus is wondering how Entity X/Jimmy Jr is able to hide itself from Baxter's telepathy; X reveals that it doesn't know how to do that. So basically we might all be being tracked rn. We do some tests to see if Song can cast a mental shield, and Markus is all "Well if this plan goes wrong and well all die I might as well tell yall my real name." They're really called Anatoli Markus Rossu, and with the help of Louis they had left their home in Budapest to escape their parent's treatment, which was largely due to the fact they didn't accept them and their bug abilities. Markus states that even if their parents wanted them back, they're an adult- they can't make him go back.
["That being said, we're not going to lose, we're going to kick ass and save the world."]
Song offers that once this is all over, Markus can join her family if they so choose; Markus states that everyone here is already their family. John hugs them, and a lovely group hug ensues- Song pulls Louis into it. ["Okay." John is the first to pull away. "I should withdraw before I get the urge to bite you."]
Song continues her practice of magic shields so we can hide our presences from Baxter later as Markus promises to protect Jimmy Jr from Douglas Baxter.
So we have a plan to lure him over, but we still need a way to attack him once his hat comes off. Louis and John can be there for close-range combat, and perhaps Song can cast some sort of barrier spell, as well as contributing to close-range and mental attacks- But all of this is very high-risk/high-reward. We turn to Louis for advice since he's probably the one who's killed the most people; Louis looks honored at this, and says normally a gun would work. He's got some guns with him as well- a 9mm and a shotgun.
Markus concludes we've got a good base for a plan, and if it goes wrong (like most of our plans tend to go) we're always good at thinking on our feet. Song wonders if Douglas will bring specialists to help him fight, but Louis just says if we kill Douglas then they wont have a reason to fight.
We look through Emmet's map of town to plan out where to have this go down. There's leylines covering the town all over; the only gap we can find is a triangular spot over a lake. A few cabins for an abandoned summer camp is near the shore, and Emmet suggests the Cast could all hide out there- to reach them, Douglas' helicopter would have to go right over that triangle if it was going in a straight line from town.
Plan A is to shoot down the helicopter. Plan B is to equip mind shields and get him with physical attacks and an EMP.
But first, the Main Cast should probably get some more supplies- and, the Circle General Store pretty much sells everything!
--------------------------
Notes:
Alright everyone. Let's kill a billionaire /hj
It was Very nice to be back with my Thursday group aaaa <3
Louis admitted he was more often used as a lure than being the one killing during his time with Lestat.
"If we can handle a plant monster we can handle an asshole with psychic powers"
I'm pretty sure the abandoned summer camp is a reference to Friday the 13th; Emmet mentioned it was abandoned after "The Incident" and wouldn't elaborate
John's going to get a shotgun btw. The mental image of it rocks

great news guys, the blockchain-supported restaurant for commies went down a treat
the fact that it's taken me this long to make a character whose character sheet has a table to roll on for products to sell is frankly impressive. i'm so excited to inflict it on people.
