After the Red Death's massacre, Chieftain and a small group went into hiding and later revealed themselves after the cost is clear. The group then found Gourmand and, despite their fears, allowed it to help them out. Gourmand showing them kindness help healed their fears of Scugs and the group joined it's clan

(this is before I figured out how to draw Elite Scavs so Chieftain's design is outdated)

After Remnant's struggle and breakdown to which there were certainly witnesses, word of course got back to Gourmand. At the next opportunity they catch the twins alone to have a word with them

i’m not the biggest expert on rain world lore but since five pebbles tells gourmand to make the slugcat colony migrate, and since they migrate during survivor and monk’s campaigns because they’re at outer expanse in the opening cutscene and gone at the end, i wonder if the two interacted with gourmand since they’re implied to be the leader of the slugcat colony. i would imagine so!
