I have been rotating in my mind some headcanon's of the Orb and its influence on Gale's body, because I feel like its design could be improved + I really like his early concept where his hand was bandaged

A Shared Space

A shadow loomed over Tav's shoulder, obscuring the light by which they read. With the clearing of a throat soon to follow.

"Good evening." Gale began, rather stiffly.

Tav was, by this point, accustomed to the formality born of nervousness that occasionally decorated the wizard’s speech. Tav closed their book and looked up at Gale, smiling encouragingly. Which seemed to ease his worry somewhat, as he returned the smile with great warmth.

"The all consuming cold of the Shadowlands seems as oppressive as ever..." Tav nodded in slow agreement, awaiting his true missive.

"Though we've vanquished all obstacles, it has done little to improve chill of the darkness of standing within Shar's shadow. Such ill-tempered circumstances cast a heavy pall over one's self, if you catch my meaning." He'd become unnecessarily verbose even by his own standards as his nerves had crept back in.

"In light of that or rather lack of light if I were to be accurate. Hm." He'd allowed himself a little chuckle at his own joke.

"In light of our...evolving bond, I was curious if you'd consider a relocation of your sleeping arrangements. Namely to my tent?" He shifted on his feet uncomfortably before adding. "Although if you'd prefer the modicum of privacy our tents provide, I would, of course, understand." He paused in his ramblings, clearly attempting to gauge if Tav knew what he was implying and seeming to await swift corrective action. When none came, he forged on. "But it would brighten my lodgings considerably to have you there. As I would yours. I hope..."

Tav feigned consideration. Their mind already made up. Before nodding and smiling brightly.

As though sun had broken through the clouds and shone upon the Shadowlands again, Gale grinned broadly before beginning the work he'd clearly deemed necessary and immediate.

"That is, most excellent to hear. I shall attend to everything, you needn’t concern yourself with the relocation beyond your eventual presence."

As he spoke, all manner of Tav's personal belongings floated behind him. In a slow procession towards his tent. As Tav watched their items float through the air, Gale smiled with ill concealed glee, the adoration clear across his face as he observed them.

"You will of course have final say upon the arrangement, but I assure you I've orchestrated quite the luxurious accommodations for us both."

He glanced at their hastily prepared reading nook.

"Perhaps you'd like to take your reading to a more private local? Ensure it is to your liking." He offered his hand, which Tav now gladly took. As he led them towards their shared tent, following behind the last of their effects. He gave their hand a firm squeeze as they ducked into the doorway.

A Reading List

She could not see Gale through the tall pile of books he balanced in his arms. They landed with a loud whump as he unceremoniously set them all down at once on the small table she had in her tent. She rose, taking a thin one from the top to examine the title. 'Aromatics and Romantics, a guide to sensuous mixtures.' She bit the inside of her cheek, keeping a hold on her expression as she picked another. 'Intimately Intangible: Gelatinous Love-Making and You!' Another read 'Night Postulations and Positions' by one Kitty Tabby, which Tav was 100 percent certain, was a pseudonym. Another was labeled simply 'Erotic.'.

"What are these then?" She kept her tone as even as she could manage given the circumstances. He'd busied himself with organizing the book into seemingly unrelated piles. But glanced up at her puzzled as if uncertain of the purpose of the question. She gave what she had hoped was a nonchalance nod to his reading materials. He seemed to recall that perhaps an explanation was owed when dumping 20 pounds of smut in someone’s tent.

"Ah, yes, of course." Now seemingly slightly embarrassed by the circumstances. "These are -" He placed a hand atop the tallest pile "- a gathering of my more personal collection. Most personal, some might say." He glanced at her nervously.

"You mentioned some interest in the unconventional intimacy and affirmed you enjoyed our night in the stars. So I was naturally curious on if any of these would be... to your tastes?" He seemed to dangle off the word tastes, now uncertain of her receptiveness. Upon closer inspection, Tav realized a large number of them sported bookmarks in various places throughout.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. The repeated theme in BG3 for every companion's story is a loss of autonomy. By a more powerful figure in their lives.

Then people will turn around and suggest Gale is the exception to this? His theme overcoming hubris? His ultimate lesson is 'fuck around and find out'? Are we sure? Are we sure that for some reason, they decided to break away from the theme for one character? Like please come on people.
