I do enjoy it when a game is clearly trying to use a wildly inappropriate pre-built game engine for what it wants to do, but I don't see why RPG Maker should have all the fun. Do grid-based tactical combat in Inform. Write a rhythm game in Twine. Implement that precision puzzle platformer in Ren'Py. You know you want to.

Your heart ached for her, seeing her go through this all, month after month, and still somehow managing to get up every day to carry on doing things for others. This time, you wanted to do something for her.

You shifted the bundle under your arm to hold it tighter as you made it to the worn down old cathedral. Your heart ached even more for her, all these months of living here, and still nobody had bothered to fix this up for her.

You raised a hand, knocking against the wooden door. From inside, you could hear the creak of the stairs and the floorboards grow louder as she came closer, then, finally the door opened and you saw her looking up at you.

"Hey MC, I hope it's okay I came by. I actually wanted to give you something." You explained, moving the package you'd been holding into her direct line of sight. Her eyes widened as she took it in.

"You really didn't have to do that." She huffed, though a small smile graced her face as she gestured for you to come in.

You followed her up to her living area, and sat yourself down at her table. She sat across from you and you slid the package over to her.

"Before you open this, I just want to say you are one of the most brave people I've ever met. I'm sorry we've all been failing to help you and have just been using you instead." You explained softly.

"You're all trying.." She replied quietly. "Though, I guess Darkwick hasn't really been sending me on the most relevant missions.." she laughed humorlessly. "So, can I open this mystery gift?"

You nodded, watching as she carefully peeled back the wrapping and opened the box. She stared inside, tears welling up in her eyes. With shaky hands, she reached inside and pulled out the framed photo.

It had taken you months to convince Darkwick to listen to you, months of fighting and rallying other ghouls behind you for support. Finally, the school relented and fetched the item you'd been begging for them to get.

"I know you must have been missing your family. If, if worse comes, I know, at least I'd want to see my family's faces again somehow." You told her quietly, hoping that this hadn't been a mistake.

"This is the single nicest thing anyone here has done for me." She sobbed, smiling at you through her tears of joy. "Thank you."

I was watching a YouTube video & the YouTuber (who is a lesbian) said that for them, some male characters love women so much that it transcends from a straight man love to a lesbian love & frankly, I think Rui fits that bill.

Mortifying ordeal: being put in a zoom room with 50 incoming freshman, face on camera, and accidentally acting the way I would on a stream because nobody was saying shit and I was supposed to entertain them for like half an hour
