the 1997 Anastasia film decided rasputin made a better villain than the bolsheviks and i’m still reeling over the fact an american company was given a once-in-a-lifetime historically justified reason to vilify communism and they SKIPPED it

Show, don’t tell
"Show, don’t tell" means letting readers experience a story through actions, senses, and dialogue instead of outright explaining things. Here are some practical tips to achieve that:
1. Use Sensory Details
Tell: "The room was cold."
Show: "Her breath puffed in faint clouds, and she shivered as frost clung to the edges of the window."
Tell: "He was scared."
Show: "His hands trembled, and his heart thudded so loudly he was sure they could hear it too."
2. Focus on Actions
Tell: "She was angry."
Show: "She slammed the mug onto the counter, coffee sloshing over the rim as her jaw clenched."
Tell: "He was exhausted."
Show: "He stumbled through the door, collapsing onto the couch without even bothering to remove his shoes."
3. Use Dialogue
What characters say and how they say it can reveal their emotions, intentions, or traits.
Tell: "She was worried about the storm."
Show: "Do you think it'll reach us?" she asked, her voice tight, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt.
4. Show Internal Conflict Through Thoughts or Reactions
Tell: "He was jealous of his friend."
Show: "As his friend held up the trophy, he forced a smile, swallowing the bitter lump rising in his throat."
5. Describe the Environment to Reflect Mood
Use the setting to mirror or hint at emotions or themes.
Tell: "The town was eerie."
Show: "Empty streets stretched into the mist, and the only sound was the faint creak of a weathered sign swinging in the wind."
6. Let Readers Infer Through Context
Give enough clues for the reader to piece things together without spelling it out.
Tell: "The man was a thief."
Show: "He moved through the crowd, fingers brushing pockets, his hand darting away with a glint of gold."
7. Use Subtext in Interactions
What’s left unsaid can reveal as much as what’s spoken.
Tell: "They were uncomfortable around each other."
Show: "He avoided her eyes, pretending to study the painting on the wall. She smoothed her dress for the third time, her fingers fumbling with the hem."
8. Compare to Relatable Experiences
Use metaphors, similes, or comparisons to make an emotion or situation vivid.
Tell: "The mountain was huge."
Show: "The mountain loomed above them, its peak disappearing into the clouds, as if it pierced the heavens."
Practice Example:
Tell: "The village had been destroyed by the fire."
Show: "Charred beams jutted from the rubble like broken ribs, the acrid smell of ash lingering in the air. A child's shoe lay half-buried in the soot, its leather curled from the heat."

ᯓ☆ 11:52pm Spiderman!Percy Jackson x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
⭐︎Synopsis: Cleaning up Spiderman!Percy ⭐︎WC: 492
Tumblr media
"Percy?"
You raise your eyebrow at the mop of brown hair standing at your fire escape. He's panting, his lip is busted, and in one hand holds his Spiderman mask, and in the other he's holding onto his rib very cautious.
He softly tapped his fingers against the glass as he watched you speed walk and open the window. "Hey there."
"Well don't you look like a million bucks," you said sarcastically, making him laugh. He winced in pain as you ushered him into your bedroom. "Try not to bleed on my carpet this time."
"Hey c'mon, you laughed at the way it spread into a heart," you rolled your eyes as you rummaged through the drawer in your nightstand, looking for your emergency stash of bandages and antiseptic for nights like these.
"Yeah but my dad barely believed that I had a nose bleed," you scoffed, sitting Percy at the edge of your bed as you cleaned his lip as softly as you could. "I've literally never had one."
"I mean, never say⏤," he winced, tightly shutting his eyes while he gripped your sheets. "Never.."
You momentarily stopped cleaning, jutting your hands on your hips as you stared in disbelief. "You said you'd never show up at my window all battered and bruised again, but here you are."
He chuckled, and grabbed at his chest once more, "Saying you don't like my visits? I'm a little offended."
You finished cleaning and bandaging his lip, gesturing for him to slide the top half of his suit off. "I don't like how many times my dad has come close to finding us."
You sat next to Percy and inspected the massive bruise covering the right side of his rib cage, and grimaced in pain yourself. His rib wasn't broken, thankfully, so you just wrapped him up and called it a day. Pre-med comes in handy for times like these, and by times like these you mean patching up that cute guy in the back of your bio class. "We're in college, why don't you just get a dorm?"
"And waste a couple grand I don't have when I live just a few short blocks away? Blasphemy," you laughed. "Plus, the dorms don't have fire escapes for a certain someone to land on."
"Ahh," Percy sighed, grabbing the hands that were examining his injuries, and pulling them closer. Pulling you closer. "I knew you liked having me around."
You hummed. "I mean, you're alright," you sarcastically dragged.
"Alright huh?" He challenged, planting a chaste kiss on the corner of you mouth. "I though we had something special here?"
You hissed and shook your head, wrapping your arms around his neck as you spoke. "I don't know, still haven't forgotten about the blood stain on my carpet. Pretty gross, if I may add." Percy rolled his eyes and held your waist. "But I guess I could make an exception for you."
"Knew you would, doctor."

Honestly, I think it would have been really interesting if Natsuo had been the traitor.
He had a hell of a motive. Older brother is killed in a tragic accident brought about because of their father, younger brother is abused by their father, mother is institutionalized because of his father, and Endeavor faces justice for absolutely none of it.
All of a sudden this news broadcast showing Stain yelling for the public to open their eyes to the false heroes among them happens...just saying, that could have appealed to more than one of the Todoroki siblings.
And with Shouto a UA student, that places Natsuo in a prime position to potentially gather information about classes on and off campus. He wouldn't be an active member of the LoV; he's just the mole. It might be a stretch to say he wanted Shouto in harm's way, but if you remember that Shouto was exhibiting the exact same anger and arrogance Endeavor had, there was room for a narrative where Natsuo reached a, "Fuck, now there's two of them," mentality and didn't care what happened to him. And that only expands on the betrayal. Shouto realizes he's on a path to become his father, then starts trying to reconnect with his mother and estranged siblings. Natsuo doesn't even have to approach him to form a connection.
...
Shouto: Why did you do this?
Natsuo: If you had any original thoughts of your own, you'd have done it, too. But I guess it's not your fault Endeavor raised you to be a puppet.
Shouto: This isn't who you are.
Natsuo: *not even anger at this point, just pity* Are you sure? Can you say with any certainty that you know any of your siblings? Or am I just the one who went to college, Fuyumi is the one who cooks, and Touya is the one who died?
