they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!

i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies

it's so funny to me when i see pearl-clutching articles about how "teenagers are diagnosing themselves with mental disorders via tiktok" because like. this is not happening in a vacuum. teenagers are severely and i mean severely medically neglected. i cannot stress this enough. teenagers do not have free access to medical care. those same news outlets would be clowning on women with housewife psychosis in the 1950's.

i sometimes go pale when listening to some of what my friends have gone through in their childhoods and teenagehoods. they talk about it so nonchalantly, things that would be considered straight up torture if done to an adult, can't fathom the effect this has on children. they are on multiple anti-psychotics and several antidepressants and anxiety meds now that they are adults. medical neglect has legally and effectively disabled them. a timely diagnosis and intervention could have saved them. of course teenagers are self-diagnosing using tiktok. if your knee-jerk reaction is to scoff at the idea and dismiss it as dumb teenager shit instead of being radicalized because the best shot young people have at attaining the mental health support they need is a fucking dancing videos app, you're categorically a political enemy of the youth.

Growing up queer, I always assumed that at some point I would experience the whole "everyone assumes my partner and I are just roommates/friends" thing, but apparently my blue hair and pronouns are simply so powerful that I keep having the opposite problem instead. THREE times now, my friend and I have gone on vacation together (bc we like travelling, and it helps to split costs) and everyone automatically assumes we're dating. We're given double beds even after asking for twins. Photographers and tour guides ask us to "scooch closer together, there we go, put your arm around her shoulder!!" One guy even asked how long we'd been together and after we replied "LOL no, we're just friends," was like "Oh, ho-ho, riiight ;) We've all been there ;)". Same guy even heard my friend mention their partner later on, looked briefly confused, and then started telling us about how he once lived in a polyamorous compound, so I can only assume he jumped straight to thinking we're actually a throuple. I cannot stress enough that we have NO interest in actually dating, and in each instance were simply Standing Next To Each Other, but apparently our combined queer vibes are so off the charts that everyone is convinced we must be secretly making out. I feel like I've been cast in a fanfic against my will

I think it's more than fair to want gay sex on tv and evil gay representation and hot gay serial killers etc etc but I keep seeing a lot of pushback against "sanitized" gay representation that often just encompasses "family friendly" (aka g, pg, pg13 rated media) gay rep and, while I certainly don't think it should replace hot gay sex, hot gay villains, trashy gay rep, slutty gays, etc etc (in fact, imo we need more gay media of all types and genres and ratings), this family friendly gay media serves the purpose of giving lgbt kids representation that they may not even realize they want or need yet until they see someone onscreen that they finally genuinely connect with, which they otherwise may not have until they're much older. Also I just don't like this habit of begrudging younger lgbt generations of things. Who cares if the cartoon shows are cheesy or the high school romcoms are cringy! They're not necessarily for you.

I lost interest in men a few years ago, fell in love with a non-binary person, and now I give them their T shots

Life and love are unpredictable

And "queer" is a great word that all of us like and self-identify with (along with our other, more specific labels), and I love that no matter what else happens, we're still, always queer
