Hi!
I saw your post on engagement rates…I do actually work in social media marketing / influencer marketing (so we do actually analyze engagement rates of influencers when decided if we should reach out to them or not) … and instagrams engagement rate does not actually involve clicks unlike other platforms (like LinkedIn for example or gossip articles) 😊
Instagrams engagement rate “formula” involves the total number of likes, comments, and SAVES (interesting right 😁) on someone’s profile divided by the number of posts. That number is then divided by the total number of followers.
So glancing at her profile won’t drive her engagement rate, it won’t do anything for her but give her profile views. It’s the follows, likes, comments (even negative ones), and photo saves. Neither will clicking on gossip articles about her, that however will drive the engagement rate of the gossip magazine…which in turn will make them want to put out MORE content containing her name (Us, E, people). Because they can see analytics on how that topic preforms. And I hate to say it but those articles preform pretty well…which is why we keep seeing more and more.
Now, her overall engagement rate isn’t really important in terms of data. What’s more import really in social media is the engagement rate by post…her post engagement rate average is like 10%. Which is above average (avg being 1-3% lol) but it makes sense for the amount of followers she does have (that aren’t Chris relayed).
Chris’s average by post was…I THINK above 20% per post (i could be wrong but I can’t check it on our system because he’s deactivated)
Ever since he commented on that one post with 🫠…her posts after that had double the engagement (jumped from like 8% per post to 16%). Her post with dodger hidden in the dump was actually one of her lower engagement rates (at only 12.7%).
And she’s also 100% buying followers. The jumps in follows don’t make sense for the lack of posts…and gossip articles just mentioning her name don’t drive that many followers as some people might want to believe. All it does is create awareness. What drives follows is tags and Chris deactivated and has never tagged her and the gossip articles aren’t tagging back to her either. The follows have gotta be fake…which is not shocking in the slightest 🤣
I didn't want to post your message because I don't want to start the discussion about the engagement rate. But I think we can agree that we give her too many interactions on IG.
However the engagement rate by post is very interesting. 👀

Long list of truth lol
Im not entirely sure where to begin even commenting on this awful PR stunt but I feel some quick background will help make sense of this shituation (see what I did there?!) I no longer work in public relations due to personal reasons but I have been around the block or two in this arena and this is the most PR thing I have ever witnessed in my life. It’s also the worst PR I have ever witnessed. As someone who worked in the field, I have so much I want to scream and say but I’ll try to make sense of it here in one post. Grab some chips or popcorn or ya know whatever your heart desires as you’re gonna be here for a while. 🍿
Celebrities doing PR isn’t new. It’s been around since the 1920’s and it has not left Hollywood. In the 60s it was outlawed that studios cannot force marriages any longer but PR relationships are still very much a thing today. They’re relatively cheap marketing and they bank on fandoms to sell it. Especially in the era of social media, tabloids like the National Enquirer or US weekly is ever used. They bank on fans spreading the word through sites like tumblr, Twitter (Sorry, X), and other platforms to do the dirty work for them. See, back in the day Studios were the ones who managed actors careers. An actor would only appear in say Universal films for their entire career. Nowadays, actors are managed by agencies such as CAA. They get to freely work studio to studio whenever work is available. PR is created for a celeb from the moment they get a bit of fame. See public relations runs deep everywhere, from public corporations to small business. Hell, the city of Hong Kong had to bring in a PR firm from England (I’m sure you can find the irony there) to convince the public that their government had their shit together. PR specialists have always been known as spin doctors, in that they can spin a story however they please to get the most favorable outcome. That’s the goal! Good image. So to get more exposure, managers will bring in a PR specialist that will help get that celeb to the public. After all, an actor or musician is not a human to these agencies but a product to sell. In Hollywood, any talk is good talk as long as the name is out there. PR agents will literally create feuds to get their clients name out there in the tabloids. Stories sell, which attracts attention to the public who is more likely to want to see a show or a movie because so and so is in it. Selena Gomez and Hailee Bieber anyone? Anything a celeb does from a charity hospital run, to the red carpet to even their social media is PR run. They tell their clients how to act, what to say, etc. Sometimes in press interviews, the publicist will even plant a question that they wish their client to answer that will drive a desired image. I wish I could say everything you see in the media is true but unfortunately it’s all curated to a precise formula.
PR has a nasty side too and will dig up dirt on anyone to purposely destroy someone to help benefit their client. If you haven’t yet, I recommend the instant Christmas classic “Spirited” on Apple TV starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrel. In the film, Ryan plays an owner of a media consulting firm (PR) who tries to help his niece win a school election by sabotaging her opponent. He has his assistant played by Octavia Spencer, dig up dirt on the classmate to find evidence to destroy the kid. She does much to personal moral regret. It’s a beautiful concept and insight into the world of public relations for those who are not familiar with what goes into it. There’s a reason his ass gets haunted by Christmas ghosts in the movie. It’s a brutal world in that industry.
Now back to relationships. Most celeb relationships are fake, I’m sorry to say. I’m not saying all relationships are fake as there are many real ones but it’s super easy to spot the fake ones when trained what to look for. Signs it’s fake is when a relationship debuts and one or both parties have projects premiering at the same time. Articles will be pushed repeatedly nonstop. And finally pap photos. I’m sorry to also say that most pap pictures are not natural sightings. They are called in by PR agents and the paps are told when to be there, where they will be, etc. And the public eats it up and falls for it every time. This is why these stunts continue to happen today because no one thinks to question what is presented to them.
Two celebs will choose to get into a PR relationship for a multitude of reasons. Money, exposure, cleanup, guaranteed future work are all the most common reasons. Usually they will pair a well known celeb with a lesser known to help boost the lessers status and get their work noticed. Usually the one with more well known status gets paid $$$ and guaranteed projects. It’s a scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Contracts are created by PR agencies as they are the ones who will move the narrative along and make sure everything goes smoothly when launched. A successful PR stunt will bring chatter, and help boost the status of both parties. A bad one will be immediately terminated early on with no expectation of completing that said contract. A contract will have various requirements from demanding a specified number of pap pictures completed, carpet events, articles and now with social media, a number of SM interactions.
Now to this specific Chris Evans shitshow.
I will get past the elephant in the room and say yes, at the end of the day he did agree to sign this and go along with it. He’s been with Megan for over 10 years and trusted her as she’s the one who went to college for this, not him. Actors pay for the professional input of PR, management, lawyers, accountants because an actors job is to only work on their job which is to act. Lesson learned? I’m sure he’ll never make this mistake ever again. What the important part here is his longtime publicist, Megan Moss Pachon, was the one who even came up with this idea and said “yup we about to do this!”
I’d like to roll back here and mention that Megan was fired from her past PR firm along with her co-owners and thus created the company known as Narrative PR. Now I’d like to say he probably should have never signed with them but from my understanding he was only with her briefly before signing on with Marvel. During the 10 year Marvel run, Disney oversaw Chris’ PR for the majority of the time. One thing you learn in the industry is do not fuck with Disney. They have an image themselves to maintain and they’re not going to have talent coming in and messing that up. They take matters into their own hands and oversee everyone who has a contract with them. During this time, Megan’s job was simple for the most part. Fast forward and Chris is no longer under the Disney bubble. Suddenly Megan must do her job to help him out while juggling the careers of many other celebs she is publicist for. The first indicator she’s horrible at her job is that she agreed to a publicity stunt to help Lily James clean up her image after playing with “snow” in a public park. Not only could that backfire on Chris regardless, she also had him do it in the middle of a fucking global pandemic. Nothing says love like a bootycall while people are dying. “People are dying, Kim!!” Defending Jacob was one of his best roles to that date and there was talk of Emmy nominations. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that ice cream date in the park with makeshift masks didn’t sit well with the Emmy voting board and he was snubbed. She literally cost her client a chance at recognition for his own craft to help out cocaine Cinderella. If it’s one thing I quickly picked up on, it’s that Megan doesn’t know how to read a damn room.
Now, I don’t know if Megan had it on her brain that the only way to help Chris with publicity was for him not to be single but apparently that was the only playbook she had because here we go again. Based on how these go, Alba who will now be known as 🐟 - her agency reached out to Narrative for PR help. In these deals, money is usually offered for assistance. ***I want to note here that Lucas Bravo is also a Narrative client. He dated 🐟 for a while. Idk if it was PR or real but either way, this means Megan had to know about this little girl. But for anyone who knows Megan, you know she loves her Birkin bags and she saw $$$$$. Hence a request to her most eligible bachelor client was offered. I can’t say what happened as we can only speculate but somehow she convinced him to sign a contract that was pure horseshit with a girl she should have known was a walking disaster.
One could say Megan was pissed at Chris for something. Honestly it’s the only explanation I can come up with of why a publicist would sink her client on purpose. That or she’s the worst publicist to ever exist and there’s a reason she got fired from her original firm after all. I think most of the fans have found out that the initial timeframe for this launch was delayed once Warrior Nun was pushed back. Not because of Netflix but because the producer of the show did not meet the required deadline for post production. I think you all know which “Uncle” I’m referring to here. As soon as this show was delayed, Megan should have cancelled the contract and said “sorry we’re not doing it because your clients project being delayed has interfered with the set timeline.” Publicists have the power to terminate the contract at any time because they’re the ones who create it in the first place. Now fast forward to November and she’s forcing her client to do their first pap run through Central Park - someone he has fists with and drops her hand the moment the photographer is out of shot. True love, am I right? This goes live, fans are angry and upset. I don’t agree people should be mad about an age gap relationship and I don’t agree with the names he was called as she was 25 and an adult. A young looking adult who loves being a Lolita but an adult nonetheless. Again, Megan didn’t think the optics would be terrible? Now fans are digging up dirt on her. This shouldn’t be a surprise because every good publicist knows you do a deep dive before even asking a client to sign onto a stunt. All this dirt about 🐟 clearly didn’t surprise her. Their strategy? Block any and every fan who questions it, reposts the dirt and even calls the PR what it is - PR. Now she’s alienating his fan base. The same fans who pay to see his movies which makes him more money and in turn makes HER more money. Great business strategy Megs! The moment 🐟 racist, antisemitic remarks, body shaming, cultural appropriation came to light, she SHOULD HAVE called it OFF! You yank your client from that as it can have deep impact on their career. Look at Taylor and Matt - that shit was shut down fast. There is ALWAYS an eject button. But no, we stumbled through that, she let the other agency have their client crash Chris’ private family vacation. Nothing happens. 🐟 takes a shower in a filthy shower stall with shampoo that is terrible for your hair and leaks it on IG. Immediately removes it and leaks the screenshots herself to Twitter as a way to cover up her racism and horribleness. Now she’s releasing shower porn. Again, Megan should have PULLED THE PLUG to protect her client. Nope. January comes around and she forces the infamous scare videos to commence. She lets the backlash continue with no cleanup. Valentines Day rolls around and he’s forced to publish a vomit inducing montage of photoshopped images because his fake girlfriend got banned from IG for leaking her own nudes. He takes the heat again, and once again, Megan does nothing.
I want to mention her idea of cleanup is just monitoring Wikipedia, removing tags on Ig and pushing old ass articles saying he dated 32 women, he wanted to marry Jessica Biel, blah blah Captain America, and oh in case you forgot, here’s a list of his exes again. That is NOT cleanup. Not even close. Ya know what a good publicist would do if their client was receiving backlash? 1) they’d yank them from the contract. 2) they’d push articles about positive fan encounters, have him do a charity event, show him with dogs, etc. Also she can adjust the google algorithm. She doesn’t need to push 599 articles to bury the 🐟.
I’m editing this to add this blurb: I do understand completely that many looked to him as a voice of reason in an industry that is well….ya know. I know many admired him for his stance on issues, me being one of them. I know many are disappointed he’s let it go on, but once a contract is in play, it’s no longer between him and the publicist. It’s between him, the publicist, the other publicist and the other party 🐟. Megan wields the power now in this scenario instead of him. These contracts also come with NDAs. (Non disclosure agreements) These usually state that neither party is allowed to freely talk about the relationship other than approved posts or interactions. At most the only people who would ever know it was fake is close family and friends. He literally cannot speak out without breaking the NDA. A breech of contract is costly - I’m talking about possible millions plus court fees and court appearances. This is why the poor Pottery place didn’t know better making that post. Yes they’re from the town but he can’t tell them it’s fake. NDAs can last anywhere from a few months after a contract ends to a few years to a lifetime. I can’t say where his falls unfortunately as it’s different for everyone. But for those who may ask why he won’t do anything or why he won’t speak out - I ask you if you can pay for his lawyer fees then.
I admire the PR blogs that have stayed true this entire time and have not swayed but y’all have to stop giving Megan the credit. She hasn’t done Jack shit this entire time. She is not behind any of the Jinx things. A publicist does not need to give permission for her client to do something with a private company he has a private partnership with and is a top investor. That is between Jinx themselves and Chris. One look on their website and they explain the partnership. He is not a spokesperson or brand ambassador, he is a PARTNER. He gets to make decisions with their marketing team without his agents or PR peoples opinions or permissions. Jinx is a completely separate entity away from his acting career.
This new GQ interview comes out which is a hot mess with the interview itself and the photos and Megan is like YAY!! A good publicist would have said that’s not going to print. A good publicist would have shut down marriage rumors back in February. An even better publicist would have yanked him from this in December. A fucking fantastic publicist would have never considered doing this PR stunt from the get go in 2021. Right on Narratives website they say they look for people to hire who can think 10 steps ahead and plan for any possible outcome. Apparently they can only plan 1 step ahead and didn’t see this backlash coming? Really?
If I can add one thing in about this “wedding” of the century - if you honestly believe this is legit, you have proved you have genuinely no idea how US Immigration law works. That is the only way to obtain a valid US marriage license. It does not happen overnight, or in 6 months or in a year. Sometimes it takes up to 4 years to go through. Also how did they meet in Europe when covid restrictions were at the highest? You were not just allowed to pass through borders just because you were in love. I feel there is no critical thinking going on aside from all the obvious things that man has tried to do or say he’s not with her. Even though they edited it to include girlfriend in GQ, he still sounded like he’d rather be alone forever. That sound like a man ready to tie the knot after going through grueling US immigration interrogations and forms? Nah. Every article says “not confirmed by either rep.”
When I say I sincerely hope he fires everyone and gets a new team to start fresh, I say that from a place of experience and sympathy. I feel horrible for the guy. He was brushed aside because Barbie was happening and Meg represents Margot too. Megan doesn’t care about the human experience or loyalty. She cares about who’s throwing the most money her way. Money is the root of all evil folks. She tried to take on a project that was too far above her experience and ruined someone’s life instead.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk!!!! 😘
