Tales of an Age: Cole, From Pillar to Post.

During a patrol you come across a simply attired man and are struck by a sense of Deja Vu. You cannot remember who belongs to this face; you have but a vague notion of a name…Cole. Being around him feels as if your regrets are being cleansed, as if your past is sanitized, but you start to recall a forgotten memory. Through this numbing experience, you recognize pain. Meanwhile, Cole seems to fade in and out of existence, you recognize a ghost that holds silent vigil on the souls of the ailing. 

He knows not whether to end suffering or let it proliferate; whether to obliterate the person you are now by resetting your past or to let you suffer and grow with this pain. You want to make the choice for him. You conversate with the empty air around you and hear sobs. You see the brim of a farmer’s hat manifest and nearby weeds cut as if by a sickle. You want to tell Cole that you see him, that you see into him, and that he can be safe but suddenly the brim is gone and you know not why you are here. You have no recollection of the brim, of the ghost, of the pain, of the choice, no…you have forgotten Cole and somehow, somehow, your heart feels lighter. You continue on your vigil and so does he.
