ariya does not know of his origin and doesn't find it important to know. as far as he is concerned, he is a sunglass regardless of the blood that pumps in his veins, and that's what truly matters. being the third eldest in seven children has given him a bit of a complex, though, a striving to be seen and showered with love and affection, no matter where or who he gets it from.

his talent in music was obvious early on, though he wasn't given proper training until well into his teens. ariya had an affinity for all instruments, including his own voice, though he rarely sings these days. he is skilled in the flute, fiddle, harp, lute, and reed pipes. ariya's preference is for the harp, both for the skill required and sounds it produces. he has a custom made high harp with gorgeous detailing that he would start wars over.

they rarely asked how they came into possession of the starks — if they simply ignored it entirely, they could pretend they belonged as the rest did. lady leona, however, would tell them a grand story of lysen, barely a toddler, stranded beside human remains and hugging a direwolf pup found by a hunting party. despite lysen's inclinations for fiction, they found it difficult to believe tall tales when it came to themself. they stopped asking soon, and lady leona stopped speaking of it.

lysen always favored books to blades, but nevertheless practiced and sparred as required. while they seemed competent with a sword, they didn't often escape unharmed. lysen saw little point in using a wooden sword when real battle used steel. practice should reflect reality, even if it meant blood stained snow crunching under their boots.

their reserved and reclusive disposition affords them the gift of observation and insight. they weren't allowed to sit in during what was labeled important, but that didn't mean they wouldn't find a way to linger a moment longer beside a cracked open door. they are adept at sneaking around and eavesdropping, learning about things they have no business knowing. rarely do they ever use what they know for action, instead filing secrets away for when it is necessary.

lysen is desperate to be needed, to be useful. they feel as if they are wasting everyone else's time and taking up space if they aren't doing something. they're capable of being a good advisor or strategist, and will occasionally offer insights along those lines but only if asked / if absolutely necessary. they fear stepping out of line as much as they do being seen as unneeded.
