Life drawing at Covent garden 14/10/2021

I really like the outcome of this life drawing. I took a lot of time focusing on the details of the building and its surroundings. As I used only a pen, It allowed me to focus more on avoiding mistakes.

Silhouette 21/10/2021

These are silhouette figures I made of the life drawing figure. I really like the outcome of these figures. I imagine these figures to be in a scary animated film.  Despite these being only short timed drawings of silhouettes, I managed to capture the figure of the person.

Collage and pen.

These are some life drawing illustrations using collage pieces from paper I made (some had patterns). I really like how they look as it is abstract. I really like how the combination of different material makes certain features in the persons body stand out.

Internship

250 word reflection

This project has helped me towards my research skills. From feedback I got from peers and teachers, I have learnt how I should approach people when asking for advice or contacting artists. I also learnt that it is important to always keep trying to get yourself included or gain advice from other people that work in the industry as it could help you gain different tips into future jobs.

Despite not having replies and gaining personal advice, I have learnt through my own research that in order to get a job in the industry, you must obtain some kind of experience and knowledge with different softwares. You also have to have a good ability in demonstrating a story as narrative is the main focus in animation as it obtain the character development and basically the whole purpose on the animation boeing created. I have also learnt that there are many opportunities out in the world if you search carefully for them even if they are not great opportunities it’s a little something that enables you to gain experience for your future/main job.

Overall, this project was very useful in giving me knowledge and having a better understanding of how I should approach my research. In my spare time, I will continue contacting people for my own benefit as-well as look at peoples experiences on YouTube when trying to get into the industry.

250 Word reflection

For the ball project, I tried to mainly use colour to represent the emotion of the ball as we could not use different forms of shape except a circle. In order to show emotion, I took advantage of the shape and speed in order to demonstrate a sort of personality for the circle. For example, at the start of my short animation, I made the circle grow big and bright colour to show strength/energy after I transitioned into a slower pace and made the ball size smaller and darker colour to demonstrate a gloomy mood (not much power or strength).

Overall, I enjoyed the project as it helped my problem-solving skills towards animating as I had to figure out how I would demonstrate personality through movement and colour. It was a bit tricky as I tried my best to avoid changing the form of the shape. For improvement, I would make the animation longer and add more keyframes so it would be more engaging and go smoothly. I feel like my dot animation was a bit too fast for the transitioning of emotions. For improvement, I would be a bit more patient so the animation doesn't look very rushed.

I learned how to use my creativity very well towards the limited restrictions I had for the project. In my opinion, I feel like I did good in demonstrating personality as well as creativity with colour. Movement could be improved but I feel like I did a good job overall.

Quick sketches  31/03/2022

These are some quick sketches I made of the male life drawing figure. My approach in making these quick sketches was to see how shapes can create the idea of a character design. As you can see in the top image, the drawings don't look realistic or very detailed. Instead, I stuck with using shapes (mostly rectangles) to help give a more cartoon figure. I wanted to explore how I could use real-life people to form 2d character designs.

Digital illustration 10/03/2022

This is an illustration I made on my iPad. I decided to avoid using the colour black and only stuck with bold colours. Because I have already done very detailed drawings and painting before. I wanted to explore something different and create an illustration instead of a realistic portrait. I really enjoyed doing this as it reminded me of music albums and how many of the artists I listen to have a similar style to what I produced.

I kept going with the illustration approach and these are one of my favourite drawings I have made throughout the year. I was really happy with the simplistic look and how I added detail but not a lot of make it fully realistic.

30 Minute drawing 31/03/2022

This drawing is really nice. I like this one a lot as my main focus was to create emotion through the use of colours. I did look at the composition of the figure but I also wanted to focus on the lighting and colour. In this drawing, I wanted to demonstrate something realistic but not too realistic. I want to be able to use my imagination from real objects and put it into a more creative form. This drawing is what I was aiming for. I really like the outcome as I feel like the use of colours blend in very well with each other as well as the lighting.
