shout out to adhd, autistic, learning disabled, gifted, and twice exceptional that actually hated school at certain levels instead of enjoying school but struggling.

who were more interested in special interests/hyperfixations than grade school subjects. who, at best, worked for a reward or punishment or liked seeing friends at school.

it’s not malicious. it’s not a choice to disappoint. it doesn’t mean you can’t be ambitious or passionate at other things. it doesn’t mean you’d never try anything challenging. school at lower grade levels is very regimented, no child chooses it, let alone to enjoy it.

new d.a. book?

friends, i am reading a book called killing november by adriana mather right now. i’m about halfway through it and it is dripping with dark academia. the setting is an elusive school that no one, not even the students know the location of. the students are mysterious and no one knows any intimate details out of protection. it has family rivalry, classes like psychological warfare and archery, and is overall just full of that dark academia vibe we crave. in my opinion, while i don’t really enjoy the writing style too much, it is definitely worth checking out. there’s even a second book planning to be released next year, so if you enjoy killing november, you have something to look forward to.
