Everyone has at least one TERRIBLE movie that they'll defend with their entire lives and mine is The Island of Doctor Moreau (1996). The nightmare of its production is admittedly more interesting than the movie itself (I highly recommend watching Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau), but what we ended up with is still just too strange and memorable to be written off as garbage. It's gnarly, it's aggressive, it's weirdly erotic and it's good shlocky fun. Plus, David Thewlis is sweaty and terrified the whole time <3

I will genuinely start like hyperventilating if things don't go exactly according to plan and I'm REALLY anal about punctuality. Like, today is the first day of a week-long petsitting gig that I'm doing, and I was supposed to be at this lady's house by 12:00, but a bunch of roads are closed for a pride event so it's taking me twice as long to get there. Now it's 1:30 and I'm only halfway there and feel like I'm going to be shot. And when other people are so nonchalant about being places on time it drives me fucking nuts. I can only go see movies alone (with some exceptions) because no one else wants to sit through the 30 minutes of previews, but if I miss one preview then I've basically missed the whole movie, yk what I mean? If it says the movie starts at 3:00, even though it doesn't ACTUALLY start until 3:30, I've still GOT to be there on. The. Dot.
